Breakfast is very good and rich. Staffs are very helpful and friendly.
Wifi doesn't work in the room. The room is cold, and the heating system doesn't work (at the last days of August).
Friendly staff at reception desk The room in the staff building with normal windows is good. Close to city center
- unfriendly staff at breakfast - poor breakfast concerning bread and knäckebrød - very expensive parking outside the weekend
Great concept, helpful staff, comfy bed, nice bathroom
Lack of ventilation in room.
Something really different -staying in a converted prison. Well executed with comforts but still original cells on display to create atmosphere and staff in the numbered shirts - very convenient just by a tram stop to the centre - excellent breakfast
The reception staff were very helpful. We had a large twin room at the front of the building so were able to open the window. Breakfast was a good variety of buffet items. The interior of the building had been sympathetically used, a real experience.
Service at outside restaurant was very poor, one day we waited for an hour and a half. An elderly male member of staff was very rude to us. A limited choice of food which was reasonably expensive. The pillows in the rooms were lumpy, asked to have them changed and they were but still lumpy. The housekeeping was a bit hit and miss, sometimes we had things replenished, sometimes not.
No wifi signal in room.
Fascinating and unusual hotel - don't miss looking at the original segregation cell at one end of the dining room. Most staff very friendly and very helpful. Breakfast and restaurant food mostly excellent. Rooms generally very well equipped. Ideal location for nearby Marina Conference Centre (less than 5 mins walk) and also Viking Ferry Terminal for ferry to Tallin.
Pillows extremely lumpy. Air conditioning too cool and not adjustable or possible to turn it off. One member of reception staff overly 'business like' and inflexible, and much less helpful and friendly than the rest of the team. The 'semi Island' of Katajonokka where the hotel is located is extremely quiet and residential, so need to walk 15 mins back to main square before for pretty much everything a tourist might want.
Historical hotel located near Viking line
Prices of souvenirs
summer time- is all great to this hotel, All is Great
Position, quiet, clean, breakfast etc.
TV had no English channels working all weekend.
The location was perfect and the garden around the hotel quiet and relaxing. My room was very clean, quiet and comfortable. good breakfast.
Found handprints from someone else in room mirror, that gave me a bad feeling regarding room cleanliness.
super friendly people at the receptionist desk - location near downtown - impressive building - nice rooms. We fully recommend this house.
chambermaids could perform better ;-) but we had everything. All in all it was very fine and we truly enjoyed our stay very much!
how the jail environment was maintained and promoted through facilities and culture of the hotel; the breakfasts were ample, interesting and delectable; the staff was very friendly and helpful in all aspects; the availability of bikes for hire; the location;
that we couldn't have stayed at this hotel for a longer period;
The location was in a quiet area but wi thin walking distance of the centre of Helsinki. The rooms were nicely decorated and very clean. There was a large choice of food for breakfast. The staff were very helpful in answering our queries.
The evening menu was limited although the food was good. Our room was next to a stair lift which was very noisy and woke us up on a couple of occassions.
Location. Close to city centre, 10 minutes walking from fish market.
hotel not so clean, too many dust on carpet. The nuts found on it, has not been removed for the 3 nights we slept here.
A little bit unusual - many of the original prison features still evident. Very convenient to get to and from central Helsinki on tram 4 - less than 10 minutes A few minutes walk from the harbour front and 15 minutes to the main squares Staff very friendly and helpful
Breakfast was unexciting and the downstairs restaurant in the basement was a bit depressing
The building has been used as a prison, and much of the old style is preserved, very neat. Quiet conferred central location. The tram stop is Close but the market square is just ten minutes walk away.
The cleanliness could have been slightly more accurate, but it was certainly not dirty.
We travel a lot and have seen our share of the hotels. Katanajokka was one of the best hotels we ever stayed in. Everything was perfect, we would recomend this hotel to all travelers.
Staff were very friendly. Interesting location and venue. Very quiet. Nice location near the city center.
The sheets were not changed everyday, but every two days. Not many staff at sight so we had to look for them to ask for something. Not much choice at the breakfast.
Enjoyed everything about this hotel. Staff were great, the facilities excellent and the location of the hotel couldn't be better. Pretty central but in a quiet location. Tram stops right outside.
...bad draining.... bath switch worked poorly....but bath and shower were good.......
We enjoyed the unique history of the property. Breakfasts were good. Room size was better than many.
We were there during unusually hot weather, and could not open the windows at night to cool the room.
