The hotel is very nice and the location is unique: now I can truly say that I spent a couple of night in jail :-) The rooms are comfortable and service is great for a reasonable price. Absolutely recommended!
Extraordinary prison atmosphere in the room and at building at all Tasty breakfast Close to sea shore K-market in 5 minutes walking
Wi-fi doesn't work in the room Expensive parking
Very stylish hotel. Breakfast
Should be, but no wifi in our room at all.
Comfortable hotel in a good location. Everything is great.
Ok, nothing great to say about
food is not so great. in the name of environment friendly don't have soap or conditioner.
Loved to be in the prison converted to the hotel. They managed adaptation perfectly, loved the room and the bathroom and a bit of 50 design (chair, desk, minibar). Food was good, restaurant is apparently really good too. You should check the cells on the ground floor.
Very dry air, but I think it is everywhere indoors in Finland. I wish there was an actual shampoo in the room (mini toiletries) as the shower gel that was there mint and eucalyptus was giving me a rash.
Location is 5mins walk from cathedral. Old features of the prison still preserved so a unique hotel. Really nice staff. Computer and printer too.
The location was excellent with the number 4 tram stopping right outside the hotel. The rooms were quiet and roomy, with comfy beds, great bathroom with a large shower rose.
Pillows were extremely hard.
Stay at the hotel was quite exciting. The rooms are very nice, modern, clean and well equipped. The corridor, doors, breakfast area made a bit of atmosphere of the old prison - was interesting! Location of the hotel is very good: 15 minutes walk to the city center, the tram No.4 stops right outside the hotel. General impressions are very good. Would definitely recommend this place to friends. P.s. Wi-Fi was not functioning in the rooms, we had to go out of our room, but it did not bother us at all as there are armchairs and coffee tables in the corridor/lobby which made everything very comfortable.
The location is a bit far away from downtown, but I took a walk from this hotel to the city center. Every staff is friendly, helpful.
Very nice and close to the center with tram stop just outside the hotel.
Wifi not working due to the big walls
I stayed in this hotel for 3 days. The breakfast is included and was amazing. Whatever your diet/preference, it was there. The hotel is within 6 minutes walk of the waterfront and downtown Helsinki
There was nothing that I didn't like !!
Interesting concept: a former prison turned into a hotel.
Horrible smell in the bathroom. Mold?
No wifi at room
The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very satisfactory. The room was clean and comfortable. The overall atmosphere was quite upper class. Good value for the money.
As this hotel used to be a prison, the walls are very thick. This means no disturbances from noisy neighbours, but also extremely poor wi-fi signal in the rooms (it works well in the corridors and in the lobby though). Ethernet cables can be borrowed from the hotel which solves the problem for laptops, but obviously not for phones and tablets.
The room is clean and big. The food is delicious and in a good price. The most impressive thing is that the people are really friendly and helpful here. I'll be back.
Great location, very nice, clean and comfortable hotel. Defebitely would go back again. Much more interesting because of it's historical background which was amazing to hear about and even see in some places as a lot from the old times was preserved
During 8 night stay breakfast got a bit boring as it was the same every morning. I would recommend to go to breakfast early if you want to have the warm food still warm.
It is not my first stay in this ex-prison hotel. Location is perfect - it takes you only 5 minutes to walk to the city center. Tram stop (No. 4) is not more than 20m from the entrance. Good and very delicious breakfast. Well-sized rooms. Highly recommended!
One day the room was not cleaned up with no notification left.
A well appointed hotel, just outside the city, but tram stops right outside. The staff were charming. Unlike most hotels, no extraneous noises as befits an ex prison. Would return when we can afford drink prices in Helsinki.
No negative reviews.
Staff were extremely helpful, courteous and friendly. The facilities were wonderful and buffet breakfast was sumptuous.
The pillows were awful and left me with a headache they were so hard
Good service. Personnel always willing to help Beds are good. Free tea, coffee and cacao in rooms. There is a computer and a printer free to use in the first floor.
Main room doors are too small (1,80m aprox). Sometimes it feels like there's not enough air in the rooms and windows cannot be opened It still looks like a prison in many aspects, which made us feel not very comfortable. Decoration is not the best. Bathroom doors in rooms cannot be totally closed. WiFi does not work in upper storey rooms and they say that's normal.
The atmosphere at this hotel is unique, with an authentic jail experience.
Wireless worked in the room, the room was warm and comfy, good breakfast selection. The hotel has a very distinct feel to it with many of the structures of the old jail intact, and a few nodds to this history (breakfast juice in tin mugs, staff in black&white striped tops)
Great location with hotel own territory. Very helpful staff, clean and bright room. Tasty breakfast. Very unusual and interesting interior. Great hotel for staying with pets - own territory and even water bowl in room.
It was a little bit cool in the room during night.
Helsinki is an expensive city. This hotel is in front of an overground stop just outside the city center so it's offers better value for money than other hotels. There is a tram every 5mins which takes you to the city center in 10mins. Sauna is free during weekend mornings, otherwise it's just 10€ for 1h
