Score from 1069 reviews Very good
Second time in this hostel and will repeat without doubt. Is near the centre, 100metres from Viking Line, large bedrooms, good equiped kitchen in all floors... The are only 3 showers per sx per floor, but I didn't have to wait.
Cleanliness and facilities were top
The windows opened only a few cms and the room gets stuffy and hot due to lack of ventilation in summer.
Great location if you arrived in Helsinki by viking line. Free sauna in the morning Nothing else
extremely poor kitchen!!!!!! No free wifi location basically need extra money with everything.
Proximity to the harbour. Is cheap and near the city center.
The hostel was very noisy, poor kitchen and so hot in the rooms.
I would like somewhere dry to put my clothes when showering.
I love the location of this hostel and design and facilities are good.Great to have sauna included with price of accommodation The staff are helpful and welcoming and meals generally good value. I have stayed previously it is usually very clean.
On this occasion the upper shelf of cupboard had something sticky on it and floor was not as clean as it could be.But on previous occasion all was very clean
We had a wide room with enough space to lay our backpacks down. We could reach the hostel easily by tram.
If you want to use the refrigerator, you have to borrow a box in it, which is very small. The shared bathroom has 3 showers with swinging doors, which gives you very little privacy.
Cleanliness and location. Bar was nice too.
The stuff is nice, the hostel was cleanly and well looked after - even if there are many guest. The rooms are expedient, but any more.
It was very hot in the rooms and there were just this small windows, which weren't be able to open.
Quiet, clean, easy to center and to shipp terminal
Kitchen on the floor was very badly stocked with cooking utensils. Also, there is no proper oven. They also close the kitchen at 11pm. The weather was very hot but I could not access the milk in the fridge or any cold drink until the morning. The bedroom lacked a basic bedside table so I had to put everything on the floor. There is no communal area to meet other travellers.
Olympia Cumulus Separate room with shower, free shower gel, free breakfast and free Wi-Fi. For the price of your room with a shared bathroom.
- Extremely poor ventilation in the rooms. Feels like sleeping in a sealed box. - No free shower gel in the shower. All other European hostels where I stayed did provide free shower gel. - No free Wi-Fi.
The location is good and the room itself was clean. But it has a feeling as a night asylum and it is not so cheap. Especially that for the second time they charged 56 euros, 10 more than for the first night, according to "dinamic creation of prices". There is small restoran of the hostel where they serve a good breakfast for a reasonable price.
2+2 toilets and showers for 30 rooms (40-50 people), there is not a glass for water, not a little mirror in the rooms. Toilets and showers were not clean. You need to make bed yourself. It is ok, if it was really cheap but it was not. The bed clothes were shabby. The staff behaved as teachers in a student dormitory I had to fulfill all kinds of documents after I arrived at 2 a.m. (I am a 65 year old lady)
Fantastic location and great front staff
This a no frills deal...very basic rooms n narrow beds and you pay for wifi and fridge space.Felt a bit claustraphobic as windows can only be opened a fraction so no airflow! Attached restaurant quite expensive so maybe they should drop prices. Hardly saw anyone in there.
The staff were very helpful and friendly, walking distance to city centre, also near tram stop. Updated/renovated bathrooms, very nice. Loved the bird song.
Could do with a towel rail or hook in room, there was nowhere to put wet towel.
Very good location in the city center of Helsinki, one of the cheapest price on hostel in the city, frendly staff, nice kitchen on my floor, elevator, tv-set.
Paid wifi (2 euros), in the city center there are a lot of wifi hotspots and wifi is not thing people should pay for extra money.
good for travel on budget, free morning suana.
breakfast is quite poor, not worthy of 8.8 Euro (additional cost).
Near Ceter, near the sea
Payment for carpet
This hostel was in a great location with a tram stop directly out the front and a supermarket just a 3 minute walk away. Staff were very friendly and helpful with maps, tram tickets, fridge keys etc. They also have a laundry on site right at reception which was great. The kitchen was small but had everything you needed along with fridge lockers. You just have to leave a small deposit at reception for a key. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. The only downside to this hostel were the showers.
The showers have timers which turn the shower off constantly. My first shower was cold and they have sea through swing doors with a gap so you will be seen naked unless you hang a towel over the gap. Other than the showers this hostel is perfect! Would stay again.
The hostel is quite near the centre of Helsinki, in a quiet part of the town. The staff was very helpful and spoke several languages.
I must say I was mislead by the over-enthusiatic description of the room listing several items present and understood only when in Helsinki that I booked a room without bathroom. Perhaps this was stated somewhere on the webpage (I was booking in hurry) but it would be better to say it clearly in the room description. And when there are common toilets for an entire floor, they would rather require cleaning twice a day instead of only once.
Rooms felt a little like a prison
an area with very little around it. very cold in the room, cold in the lobby, cold in the restaurant. dirty.
Very nice place, clean and neat. Staff very helpful. Full of life in the evenings.
Clean place with a good location and no nonsense operation.
While I appreciate the fact that they are trying to run a budget accommodation in a very expensive city it seemed like every little part of the stay was designed to extract more money from the guest (off-hour sauna access, internet, and other small things cost extra fees that I found excessive and irritating).
Paid wifi. I have never saw a hostel charging money for using wifi. 2 euros per device
