A very cosy hostel in such an unusual place. It was the best hostel I've ever stayed in! Thank you!
The hostel is situated on the island and it is about 2 minutes walk from the ferry terminal.
The administrator is not in from 4 pm till 8 am, so in case of a problem there wouldn't be anyone to help you. Very dirty and poor kitchen. There was no tea.
To get here you must take a short ferry ride and nothing is open late at night, but it's easy to find, clean, and the island is beautiful. It's perfect for a short trip where you can wake up and walk and enjoy the beauty of the quiet island. Staff is only there during day time hours but they are well organized and it was easy to get in and find everything I needed.
Soumennlina is nice, beuatiful and calm place near from city center. Soumennlina have a special atmospher.
Far from the city noise and hustle, on a quiet island
Probably VERY noisy during the high season, walls are thin and doors noisy
Everything was really fine
Noone after 4pm. It was a little bit creepy there, because there were just two old men and me in hostel
The hostel is very close to the Siwa (grocery store) and the main quay. And the rooms are quite large. The wifi was very fast too!
During the off season, most locations are empty and shops have limited hours.
The location is amazing, very beautiful and close to the centre. I liked the history behind the building of the hostel.
There was no wifi in the rooms. Forgot to provide me with sheets.
Dirty kitchen, lacking essential items (like spoons, for instance). Some efforts should deffinetely be done to make it more practical.
room 3 very small for 7 persons, kitchen closes at 10 pM and pool toiles. No Light i toilets. poor rate quality versus price
No curtain, so the room was too light
I liked the way they leave the key for those who arrive late - no troubles at all. It's nice that people change the shoes immediately on coming in and not in the rooms... And general atmosphere of an old school was funny.
Shower/WC facilities were traditionally small. In the morning the tracks were passing by and making terrible noise (I was staying at the ground floor and the windows were open). I couldn't connect to WiFi.
The location is amazing, it is only a 15 min ferry ride from the centre, on a beautiful and quiet island. The staff was friendly and the rooms and common areas were perfectly clean and reasonably comfortable (for a hostel).
Due to the thick walls, there was no wifi in the rooms.
Nice location on the island, close to the ferry pier. Supermarket nearby if you need any supplies. Nice place to go jogging.
Noisy people, lots of noisy youngsters around 18 yo when I was there. Price too expensive for a 10 bed dorm.
the location, the showers. the friendly staff
the flying ants in the bedroom
Awesome location, very clean hostel, friendly and helpful staff. Just beautiful and quite roomy and comfortable for a hostel. The women's room is great for solo traveling girls like myself. Only 8 people to a room, so you aren't completely packed in like at some other hostels in Helsinki. Things are very streamline and neat. There's a nice little store nearby stocked with microwavable meals and other easy and relatively cheap things to make.
Limited number of cooking supplies in the kitchen. Internet speed is good but is only accessible in the common room (wasn't a problem for me, but good to be aware of). There is no one on staff after 4PM, but they leave a number for emergencies (I personally would feel more comfortable if at least one staff member slept there at night, but it's not a deal-breaker). Like all hostels in Helsinki, this is a bit pricey, but it's much better than other hostels that have a similar price range. Despite the minor setbacks, I recommend it!
Great location on a tourist hotspot (15 min boatride from downtown Helsinki), quiet after the last daytrippers leave, historic building, friendly and efficient staff
Registration-hours are rather limited, but the staff arranges it well with doorcode and prepared welcome-package
the place is very nice situated, nice surroundings
Hostel Suomenlinna is a great place, in a wonderful location. It was quiet, clean and well-organized. Right up there with the best hostels I have stayed in, world-wide. High ceilings, big windows, clean showers, friendly staff. First-rate!
Perfect location if you are visiting Suomenlinna. Quite small but nice rooms.
Everything was fine, can't really find anything to complain about.
Excellent location, especially in early June.
Uncomplicated Check-in After reception hours. Well organized and well located. Good Standard, fresh towls and beding.
Shared Kitchen right Outside The private rooms could be disturbingvat times.
Everything was good :)
The privacy and cozy atmosphere! It was like living in a home!
