I liked the way they leave the key for those who arrive late - no troubles at all. It's nice that people change the shoes immediately on coming in and not in the rooms... And general atmosphere of an old school was funny.

Shower/WC facilities were traditionally small. In the morning the tracks were passing by and making terrible noise (I was staying at the ground floor and the windows were open). I couldn't connect to WiFi.

The location is amazing, it is only a 15 min ferry ride from the centre, on a beautiful and quiet island. The staff was friendly and the rooms and common areas were perfectly clean and reasonably comfortable (for a hostel).

Due to the thick walls, there was no wifi in the rooms.

Nice location on the island, close to the ferry pier. Supermarket nearby if you need any supplies. Nice place to go jogging.

Noisy people, lots of noisy youngsters around 18 yo when I was there. Price too expensive for a 10 bed dorm.

Awesome location, very clean hostel, friendly and helpful staff. Just beautiful and quite roomy and comfortable for a hostel. The women's room is great for solo traveling girls like myself. Only 8 people to a room, so you aren't completely packed in like at some other hostels in Helsinki. Things are very streamline and neat. There's a nice little store nearby stocked with microwavable meals and other easy and relatively cheap things to make.

Limited number of cooking supplies in the kitchen. Internet speed is good but is only accessible in the common room (wasn't a problem for me, but good to be aware of). There is no one on staff after 4PM, but they leave a number for emergencies (I personally would feel more comfortable if at least one staff member slept there at night, but it's not a deal-breaker). Like all hostels in Helsinki, this is a bit pricey, but it's much better than other hostels that have a similar price range. Despite the minor setbacks, I recommend it!

Great location on a tourist hotspot (15 min boatride from downtown Helsinki), quiet after the last daytrippers leave, historic building, friendly and efficient staff

Registration-hours are rather limited, but the staff arranges it well with doorcode and prepared welcome-package

Hostel Suomenlinna is a great place, in a wonderful location. It was quiet, clean and well-organized. Right up there with the best hostels I have stayed in, world-wide. High ceilings, big windows, clean showers, friendly staff. First-rate!

The location was awesome!!! We lucked out and got a room to ourselves which was sweet! The kitchen was simply, but good.

The staff had zero regard for being respectful of sleeping guests in the morning hours. The hostel has thin walls and they did not hesitate to shout to eat other and vacuum at really early hours.

Excellent location, near the Suomenlinna sea fortress. Cannons, walls, dungeons and the beautiful northern sea.

Breakfast don't worth its money. Better to buy all you need from local store.

The hostel is big and quite clean, with great facility. And the people there are quite nice.

It's on the island so it takes a little time to go there, but since it's a visitor point itself, it's alright.

The environment is very nice, lying on a peaceful island. The room is very big and there is a grocery store nearby. very convenient.

I have to use wifi in the rest room because it is toooooo weak in my room!!!

    clean place. cheap

reception was not there. they close before noon in the winter. one of the guest let me in and I slept in a 6 bed dorm, which was what I booked. in the morning she insisted that I pay 28 euros instead of 20 with no apparent reason. she just kept saying that's the price.

Excellent location. Nice old place. View of the Helsinki.

Reception closes early at winter time. You need ferry to reach the island (40-60 minutes interval in autumn).

Excellent location, we really liked the island Suomenlinna, it's very nice and picturesque in the summer. Good value for money, Scandinavia isn't cheap. Nice twin rooms, clean, friendly stuff.

I wouldn't mind free booking cancelation because I like to change plans.

Nice staff, very close to the ferry up to the city, very close to a good equiped supermarket, the islands of suomenlinna are very beautiful, it is quiet and remote enough (I´m 63), on Suomenlinna there are no other hotels ore hostels

Nothing to complain. It is first of all a youth hostel with all its typical characteristics

Beautiful location, clean rooms, price is very well. Big opportunities for communication :)

It's really impossible to sleep with people swarming around. This hotel is good only for undemanding people who wants to save their money.
