Henri was very friendly and helpfull Our while stay. He introduced us to the appartment, several excursions around and other interesting things.
Owners where very nice and helpfull. Location is beautifull. Lot of great stuff to do like husky safari.
Kitchen is too small Wi-fi is not always working well
staff very friendly, lots of activities expensive but worth it,we done husky sledge and snow mobiles and both activities we were provided free transport ,if we needed anything we just asked and they provided, tthe owner even drove us to the supermarket!
The location is not only very beautiful, but also perfect for watching the Northern Lights as it is quite isolated from other light sources. The owner is very friendly and helpful and his wife is an excellent cook. The room we stayed in was warm and cozy, with wooden furniture and a functional kitchenette. The comparatively low prices are the icing on the cake. I really cannot recommend this place enough!
The owners are very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere on the park is really informal, which makes it feel like home. We rented the big cottage with own sauna, just perfect. Big, clean cottage with all kitchen facilities available.
The staff and the owner were friendly.
Our unit had not been cleaned properly before our arrival. The mattresses were made of cheap foam and extremely uncomfortable. Overall the unit had a yukky feeling and desperately needs an update. I hate to report this with some frankness because the owner who I had the pleasure to meet and her staff were extremely charming.
nice and quiet location at a river, about 2km away from Ivalo center cheap price
very small beds, extremly soft, mattress very old, felt more like a hammock, cottage was smelling bad, internet very weak, you can hear everything from your neighbours (talking, snorring, toilette flushing), chairs dirty, linen and towel 7€ extra per person, Restaurant was closed
The owner lady is very kind, lively, cheerful. The place is sullen and calm. The aurora in summer time was unforgettable.
Beautiful views and not too far from the town
The room and the utilities were not very clean (and the staff wasn't inclined to do anything about it). The bikes available were all in a bad shape.
Everything was great.
We stayed in an economy cottage. It's very basic, like camping, except with two beds and a roof. Bathrooms and showers in another building, of a camping standard. Nice location, two kilometers from Ivalo. Bicycles--though old and in disrepair--were a nice free treat.
We were really satisfied! We have booked a small cottage, but when we have arrived, the very friendly receptionist Lady suggested us to have a look at it before we really take it, as we might find it disappointingly simple (she said that it often happened). The small cottage was actually quite plain: only two beds and a table with chairs were in the room, and the bathroom was quite far away (all the other cottages were taken, so she could offer only the last one for us). There were no bedsheets and linens. It might be ideal for those who want to be close to the nature (it was close to the lake), and want to save money. But the Lady recognized that we were a bit too much of "urban-people" for that, and she was right... So she has offered us a double room for some extra, which was totally different! A small, equipped kitchen with fridge, a bathroom, two beds with beddings (but no linens), a table, chairs, a cupboard, and even a TV (which we didn't need, but still) and - which can be useful for foreign travellers - free WiFi! And the cozy terrace! The beds were separate, but we could push them together. The kitchen was very handy for us to have a cheap breakfast and dinner. I think anyone can find their accomodation here, whether you wish a cheap, simple place to stay or you wish a bit of higher comfort. The city center (which is very small) is only 500 m away.
Not big complaints... The WiFi was working only on the terrace, but not in the room. A bit more equipment in the kitchen would be useful, but otherwise everything was fine!
The husband (owner) was verbally abusive and rude. Very unwelcoming. The wife seemed embarrassed but also was not helpful except to give me my money back for the second night so we could leave instead of staying the second night as planned.
Very beautiful place, the friendly personnel, is the Internet
There is no microwave oven, rooms aren't completed with ware (few forks, blunt knives, aren't present openers of canned food)
quiet place, friendly host
People in general were so nice they helped out with things like butter. As we were there one night and we saw the northern Light the place was perfect. Small comfortable houses with everything what you would need. It is quite and nice there and really beautiful
Everything was good.
Henri, the owner of the holiday house helps us to arrange all the activities and we had great fun there. We had husky safari, reindeer safari, skiing around the holiday house area, ice fishing, snow mobile. and i highly recommended to rent the BBQ house for BBQ in the winter time. six of us stay in the cottage, but very big but it's enough to accommodate 6 people. and the sauna room in the bathroom is great too. and, Henri replies my emails quick, great help!
i don't have any complain.
very small room for 3 persons.
The owner, Henri, is wonderful. Very responsive when we arrived, offer lots of advice and assistance in arranging transport, activities, etc. Rooms were warm and cozy. The property is on beautiful physical surroundings, with just enough peace and quiet while still an easy and pleasant walk to town center. Logistically, very easy to navigate. Regular buses from the south, some of which even stop closer to the hostel (ask for the stop before Hotelli Ivalo), and regular buses to Saariselka. For those self-catering, Ivalo has a number of well-stocked shops and cafes, so no need to haul groceries from far away. The resort has a sauna (30 euro) which, while more functional than charming, is very relaxing after a long day outdoors.
Very few things to dislike. Overall, a great stay at a nice, relaxed place, with some escape from the winter tourist hordes. The kitchenette is fine for making basic meals (hot plates, refrigerator, some dishes and utensils), but don't plan on any gourmet cooking. Bathroom was a bit on the older and dingier side.
Very helpfull staff, always there for you if you have any questions. Nice place to stay, very calm, beautifull nature.
The owner is very friendly and helpful, willing to answer questions and help in anyway he could, like help calling car rental for price etc.. The holiday center is located in a quiet neighborhood so is away from all the noise.
only very minor issues, like TV is far too high, bed is a bit soft for me.
Very nice staff! Nice environment! Possible to see aurora in the room but not guaranteed. Many activities to join!
Activities are expensive but compared to those offered by the others, it's relatively cheap!
henri and his wife are nice and friendly. we tried both self-catering and meals in the restaurant. henri's wife cooks well. i would say this holiday house's facilities are more than adequate. what's more, we experienced the husky safari, snow mobile, snowshoeing, ice fishing, skiing, reindeer safari and BBQ in the cute little BBQ house here. the sauna in the cottage works, it just takes a little time to warm up! the cottage is just 120 euros per night and shares with 6 people, i would have no complain. just we were lacking of luck for catching northern lights. but it gives me a very good excuse to revisit this lovely place.
it would be nice if there is a sieve or a colander in the kitchen, i found it's quite difficult to drainage the lettuces for making green salad with that tool.
Nice location. Very nice owner. Many activities on the spot (extra paid). Cosy rooms with all the facilities (little kitchen, tv, wifi).
Really bad experience, staff gave us a uncleaned room and the room was no heater ! Outside was -17 degree ! Luckily the payment have some problem and they want us to pay in cash. By this reason, they finally found us and we can tell them how bad was the room ! (They even don't know they gave us a wrong room at the first time!!!)
