The most distinctive feature of the Omena Hotel is the fact that is has no reception. You get around the place with the access code that you are provided with. Some might find this minimal interaction approach a bit weird, but I find it is consistent with the Nordic way of doing things. However, you can always phone the staff for help. The location was the selling point, as it is in walking distance to all the major landmarks and the main transport hub, which is the railway station. There is also a 24h supermarket nearby, which is a rare thing in this part of Europe.
Some of the 4 person rooms are a bit small. After you set up all the beds it can be a bit tricky to maneuver inside the room. Also, it would be wise to have the room code on a piece of paper in case you forget it or your phone battery dies.
The hotel is not near the train station, it is about 15 minutes walk. We arrived very late that night and the environment nearby is very bad. I booked the room for three person but there are only two beds can use. The staff said one more bed sheet is under the sofa, but there's nothing. Then they said there should be a box with these sheets and towels inside, but there are even no box in the room. Next time we won't book this kind of autoservice hotels.
Main bed and bathroom great. Location fantastic with all needed nearby. Entry and exit easy with no dramas.
Sofa beds nit too good. Breakfast at Cafe across the road; food basic, would've been enjoyable if staff wasn't rude and being more interested being on his phone than serving customers. I would stay at Omen a but wouldn't bother with the breakfast. I would've preferred an earlier check in as opposed to 4.
great shower. not to far from anything
very big window in the ceiling with no curtain
Very clean, great bedding, great size, great location, very light.
No mugs in kitchenette, noisy heating, difficult shower operation.
price and location
loud and not correctly working AC, possibility to control the lights only from 1 stand and not from all the available 3
The hotel is simple and elegant. Very good location.
Poor air circulation as you can't open the windows.
Clearn and comfortable
Top shower is not controllable, but handy shower is good.
-location area -full equipped room - smart code acccess to room with no keys - very good shower - very good wifi
- we get a dirty room, still hairs in shower and into bed related past clients - asked for a cleaning to staff, even aknowledge from them, no one did it along 3 days
Nothing, except that self checkin and electronic key codes worked.
Everthing else----the whole format of the hotel---choosing such a hotel was a big mistake.
That they don't come in every day and clean. Codes, not keys. Economy.
20 minute walk to train station. Room could have been cleaned better.
No personnel at all: everything is automatized, you don't have to wait for anyone for check-in or check-out: just receive an SMS prior to your arrival and enter code from it to unlock all the doors. Moreover, you don't need to think about two cards or stuff: just say this code to your friend. Tea, sugar, microwave, fridge, small tea cups/spoons, and Wi-Fi were fully available free of charge. There's KOTI pizza downstairs (you don't even have to get out of the building), despite I didn't try it at all. There is good blind between shower and toilet, so you won't turn restroom into dolphinarium. Blinds on the windows are also rather good. Room was really big for me: two single beds (staying together, so you can treat it as double), desk, two chairs and two sofa chairs (there was an instruction about turning it into additional beds).
There were no plates/forks/knifes, so don't expect to warm up your dinner. Cups are made of disposable plastic and you have to be very careful as they can become hot after tea is poured. There was no edge between shower and toilet (they're in the same small sub-room), so it's theoretically possible for water to spill all over the floor - I didn't check it, may be it's not a problem at all.
Hotel was in a great location, we could walk everywhere and it was perfect for a short city trip!
Had to make the bed on our own in the family room. Also there was no possibility to store the luggage so we had to walk to the habour. Couldn't open the window!
Kind response from helpdesk when we complained about noisy neighbours.
Very much party noice in the middle of the night from neighbours - they seem to trust that they can do anything because there is no staff in the hotel Indoor air quality was not good. Not possible to open windows, and ventilation not enough. Security: Not possible to open windows in case of emergency, and door handle and lock on the door to the staircase always fell off when someone tried to open from within the corridor = could cause trouble if hotel guest would have to evacuate
It has a different interior than what would you expect on budget hotels. Very lovely and clean.
Location was great. Room was unbelievably spacious with a seating /dining and sleeping area. Bed was super comfy and the shower had the perfect heat/pressure combination. The room had a microwave and a kettle complete with tea/creamer etc. There was also loads of plug points everywhere for charging devices.
The doorcodes didn't becone active until precisely 4pm. We arrived on early boat from Tallinn and couldn't checkin until 4pm so we had to carry our luggage around with us all day. An option to leave luggage or checkin earlier would have been greatly appreciated.
location, bed was clean
it was not possible to open the windows, no possibility to change climate control to lower level, had strong allergy in the room, floor/cupboard etc not clean
Dispite talking to staff couple of times via phone and email heating never got addressed, it was a very cold stay which left both of us sick ruining our holiday... Useless staff with poor guest relation and communication...
Zero facilities, no reception, no cleaning if u stay long for more than one day, worst position of bathroom in the centre of the room, bad and uncomfortable beds, entrance with bad smell ....................... never use again in future
The rooms could be cleaned at least in two days.
No basic utensils
Problem with password for opening the door. The main door did not work. No towels in the room, window could nor open - no aircondition. Very poor bed -bedsore.
close to the center No reception but dont worry you will get the code by mail and memorize it
Fridge, Hairdryer, microwave owen, 6 electric oultets, electric kettle, air conditioning, big TV, stable WiFi, 10-15 minutes walk from Central Railway Station. Stayed there for several times and plan to stay there anytime I'm in Helsinki. My absolutely number one out of Helsinki hotels.
Absolutely no disadvantages. Just have a look at the list of advantages :)
