- In downtown - Easy to find
- Entrance was atypical as it was a big gate instead of a normal door. - Handshower was broken
bit dirty, especially common premises, not very well informed helpline staff
clean room, easy acces
expensive for a hotel without a reception
location next to center, train station, etc. clean
There was room to move around for two or three people. It was warm and felt secure.
Beds had mattress toppers by 4th night back starting to ache. No comfy chairs and if more than 2 people staying in a room for 4 you have to use the end of the beds as seats for 2 people or make up their beds into seats again! Poor really as space for more seating was available. Good for 2 poor for 3/4.
a nice clean warm room. There is a microwave oven, a kettle, a small fridge, tea, coffee, a table. You can cook an easy food. The hotel is in the centre of the town, many shopping possibilities are around it.
windows are closed, you mustn't open them. There is an air conditioning, but it it not the same as the fresh air. The hotel has no parking
Very clean and modern facility. A 1/2 block away from the downtown and malls, bars and rstaurants
Was not aware that at times you must use your credit card to gain entry into the hotel. Had I not had the Credit Card that I booked the Hotel with I presume I would have been locked out. The other thing is that it is always nice when travelling to have one International TV News station and the only English was CNBC ... a business channel
Every room has a microwave oven and fridge.
Pillows are flat.
Some times you need to try 5times until door code works. Room was not absolutely clean, was not tidied up during the whole 4 days stay.no possibility to leave luggage...
Closed Windows Very hot rooms
very spaciuos and clean room
There is no parking facility in the hotel, (the garage nearby under the shopping center is very expensive). There are only plastic glasses - when making coffee it is very unhealthy pouring the boiling water right from the water boiler into a cheap plastic one-way glass. I would definately expect normal glasses.
Kettle, fridge, microwave, wifi, hot water, decent bed, good location.
The curtains could have been better. I'm not Finnish, so it was a little difficult to sleep with the wonderful midnight sun! Also - perhaps a little cutlery would be a good idea (especially since there's a microwave) The above minor points are why I rated the hotel "good" & not "excellent" for facilities and comfort.
Very close to train station. Plenty of tea and coffee bags, microwave and fridge in the room.
There was no door for the shower, so when you take a shower the whole bathroom gets wet. Sth minor but would be great if they fix it.
Fuss-free check-in and check-out. Quiet and within walking distance to the railway and bus station. Conveniently located near shops and restaurants. Close to the lake Jyvasjarvi and the Harju park. The availability of the microwave oven and the refrigerator allows for simple meals to be prepared in the comfort of our room.
We loved the room itself, the design. The fact that there is no lobby means no paperwork, and thus there is less trouble. The hotel is very quiet.
The no lobby thing is a good thing, but it may also has some drawbacks, such as the fact that I had no one to directly ask a bill so that I could be refunded by my lab... I'm pretty sure that the documents I have been sent by email can do the job though, but I still would have appreciated to directly ask someone about that, but it is just a minor problem. Apart from that, nothing wrong!
The code worked perfectly. The room was quite big and the wifi worked fine. It was really quite off the street (the city is quiet anyway). There are plenty shops near by.
The toilet was a bit small. The cups were all plastic ones which didn't quite work when making tea/coffee.
It is in the city centre and it was very close to the venue of the conference I attended.
You feel a bit abandoned, as the hotel has no staff at all. But that I knew when I booked. I only would have appreciated more facilities for food and beverages available for customers, not just a poor vending machine on each floor. rooms are tiny and filled with useless furniture.
Clean room and overall hotel, strong Wifi and easy to get to
Shower is timed and kept shutting off, which was weird. The hotel is not staffed, so check in was all online- I liked this but I wasn't aware of this until I got there. No parking, cost me $60 Euro to park in Sokos next door!
Great location-close to city centre, train/bus /stations. Great value for Finland
Thin curtains! Take an eyeshade, close to 24 hours daylight in summer
I liked the fact hotel is close to travel centre; wi-fi and prompt communication.
Wifi was slower than expected.
Best value in town
I like the way Omena Hotel is organized. I didn't see no one during my check in, my stay and check out. Everything is fully self-service. Reservation, room number and room code delivery. Just great.
I don't have any comments against.
Wi-Fi was excellent - open and fast. Curtains were adequate and provided shield from the sunlight in the morning.
I guess this is how Scandinavian prisons look like. Four gates to access your room. Cleanliness is not really up to par (toilet was dirty!), size of the bathroom is more or less like on an airplane, matresses are hideous, they don't provide cleaning service (for "short" stays up to 5 days), and guess what - you cannot open the windows. Beautiful fresh air outside, but you're stuck with air-condition. What a disgrace, both for comfort and energy efficiency. I wouldn't have complained if this was a cheap hotel - but it was far from it. My suggestion is look elsewhere. There are a lot of hotels around, which might be only slightly more expensive, but will include breakfast for this price, and some fresh air to accompany it!
