Wifi was very slow and the room was TINY.
nothing in particular
Location Bed Friendly staff
Price was a bit on the high side
- the cheapest room (Smart) was compact but well-organised - there was a double bed but the room would have been a bit too small for two persons, in my opinion... - a nice hotel with Jugend style in the reception - close to the city but in a quiet neighbourhood.
- big problems with the tv system and the reception couldn't solve them without IT support (it was weekend...) - no bathrope or slippers in the room as promised.
Location and cost were primary as was the option to have a fzmily room. We were over to see our daughter who met us in Helsinki and the fact we could have a family room at a reasonable rate was a winner. We did not eat in thee restaurant as were booked elsewhere both nights but it was busy with residents and non residents using it. The breakfast was of an excellent quality with plenty of choice. Has a lovely bar area where people met and which had a really lovely atmosphere. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. If we ever come back to Helsinki we would book here again. ThNks for a lovely stay.
Our bathroom door did not shut properly which ws a bit awkward given there were three of us. We didnt complain as it was such a short trip and didnt cause huge idnconvenience. I am sure if we had of complained it would have been rectified however.
The main entrance and the lobby are part of a beautiful early 20th century Art Nouveau building while the guest rooms are in a tasteful modern design. The staff is friendly, polite and professional. Recommended!
A bit far from the centre.
The location is halfway between the ferry terminal to Tallinn and the city centre which was ideal for my purposes
Wifi was very patchy in the rooms
the room we got first was so extrem small that you cant move or sit or have a desk to write something. The bed was to clap against the wall like a wall rope but maybe the architect thought thats cool, its not. The room was noisy of the whole house air condition installation. After complaining they offered a other room and that was little bigger and ok. They closed the garage for repair and it was noise all day while they told me to put my car on the street without any offer for proper parking anywhere. After discussion I just left it in the yard and other followed.
Really quiet, friendly staff, great breakfast.
50 Euros deposit. I had to pay it in cash as I didn't have a credit card - only a debit card.
no any specific issues.
Staff speak good English, the rooms are nicely renovated. Late arrival is convenient, it is possible to even have a little food at the lobby if you arrive late.
Wifi is password protected and slow! Only up to 3 devices on 1 account. No hair conditioner in the shower. No tea in the room and even bottled water is sold for money.
The rooms are very stylish, minimal space, but very functional- everything you need!! The motorized bed was awesome, so comfy! The hotel was very nice, clean, and quiet.
Parking is a little steep at 24 euros per night, but it is the middle of Helsinki in a good location. Breakfast didn't start early enough for my schedule, may that works for people on vacation but not people with jetlag who are up at early/weird hours and have tight schedules.
The character of the main building is intriguing and added to the special feeling of being on holiday. Very impressed with the timely response and information I received via email before we had even arrived in Helsinki. Throughout our stay all the staff continued with great customer service, very polite and most helpful. Our room was very modern, clean and comfortable. Even the pull out bed was comfortable.
Only one very small issue because of our travelling party. The room we were given would be best suited for couples. We were travelling with our 20 year old daughter so the glass wall between the bedroom and shower was a small issue. Even though the glass is opaque we still left the room to allow privacy for one another during showering.
overall stunning hotel
Super helpful staff, perfect location, good breakfast and quality of hotel service.
room breakfast several options available
no tea/coffee facility in room. extra 5euros p.n difficulty removing travel plugs unable to alter room temp or facility to open window
Very good breakfast served as early as 7 a.m., clean comfortable room with pleasant and modern décor, great bathroom with practical design and facilities.
It's location which is neither near Central train station nor West Harbour but served by tram # 9, A rather small triple room with 2 single and a sofa bed the last of which is uncomfortable for even a small adult.
Breakfasts were superb Restaurant. We dined there one night and the food and service were excellent and not too expensive Small but attractive rooms Helpful staff Atmospheric lobby and bar in lovely old part of building
Very small rooms Insufficient room to open 2 suitcases or unpack Wifi didn't reach to our room for iPad mini Long way to walk from lobby to room Bathroom very small and shower door needs to be opened inwards or bathroom gets flooded. Ok once we sorted that out
The place was fine except for the dirty and disgusting carpets in our bedroom; change to wood floors! The food was excellent!
Disgusting carpets in bedroom
Friendly and efficient service and within walking distance of all the tourist attractions, with easy access to public transportation. A great place to stay in Helsinki! (Good breakfast buffet, too!)
Lovely stylish room, very well maintained with quality fittings. Good size bedroom and bathroom. Delicious breakfast with a variety of options. Wonderfully helpful staff checked us in 7 hours early...made such a difference.
The breakfast was fantastic. One of the best "all you can eat" breakfasts I've had at a hotel. The room, TV, bed, etc... are all generally good. No real complaints. If you have a lot of money and get a "good" room, I think you'll have a much better experience than we did as it is a beautiful building not too badly located.
As soon as we arrived, we were hustled to "upgrade" to a bigger room for an added fee. We heard this same spiel given to ever customer that arrived over the next 4 days. Surprisingly, the price changed with each customer. We were offered for 10 euros per night, the next group I heard was 15 euros per night. Anyway, we declined. The Wi-fi is somewhat slow. This was not a problem. However, if you want a faster one, or if you want to see any of the movies on demand or various cable channels that appeared to be included, you are guided to a "one day package" for 20 euros a day. This was a regular feeling at GLO Art Hotel: Even though you've already made a booking, we're not going to treat you that well until you pay more. This also arose with towels. Two days, they weren't replaced at all. Another day, only one was mysteriously replaced. We made sure to make it known we wanted them replaced. No refrigerator in the room. If you get the "cheap" room as we did (called a "Smart room", I think), you may be next to some sliding glass doors on the first floor as we were. They make a high pitched squeak every time they open and close - which is OFTEN. It didn't stop us from sleeping, but it a can be annoying. For the "cheap" room customers - not cheap by our standards or even for much of Helsinki, but cheap for Hotel GLO Art - I felt like it was a bit of "second class" treatment. Maybe it was just me, but still...
