Great quite location, nice sea side view
Not available earlier check-in
Nice furniture Friendly staff Breakfast
Floors (carpets, wooden floor) looked like from 20th century
the breakfast was very hearty and enjoyable
A whole experience was really good, very friendly staff.
Even though the breakfast was really good, it was very chaotic or disorganized and it was hard to get service. Perhaps having more servers available will make a difference.
too soft for sleeping
Great location and helpful staff with good humour.
Dog show on in town.. Over 70 dogs staying in hotel.. Constant barking so very poor sleep.
The over all attitude of the staff, who really do not care if people have a good time staying "with them" for a week's time in this hotel & Helsinki.
Breakfast options were fantastic
good location, great staff, super rooms for business
Bare and Restaurant close very early - everybody then makes there way to the lobby to drink/eat which isnt nice
The shower tiles could be cleaner...they are little bit mouldy
• Location Probably one of the best in the downtown. Located near the harbor the hotel is at the very center of the city yet in the quiet district. The tram 6/6t stops right in front and two other key trams, number 8 going Arabia and number 9 going Pasila, are in 2-minute walk from the hotel. The bus number 20 stops next to the 8 tram stop. The Ruoholahti subway station is in 10-minute walk and if you aren't scared of walking, Kamppi station is in 15-20 minute walk as is the Central railway station. • Meal Breakfast is pretty good, menu is okay, typical Finnish cuisine and quite tasty. • Bike rental You can pick a bike from some 4 or 6 of available bikes, 2 hour or like so is free of charge. • Cineplex The Finnkino cinema is in the close proximity, have a 10-minute walk to the city center and you are there.
• Staff ◦ I wasn't the first time we stayed at this hotel that's why we were quite surprised to hear that no information about our stays is available in the hotel's database. How come it could be if we stayed just a month and a half ago? The staff wasn't interested in resolving the issues and did not do anything to solve their problem. ◦ We weren't able to use our Carlsson Club membership points there and the points weren't added because the booking was made through the Booking.com. What? So Booking.com is to blame, they told us! How come? We haven't had any issues receiving Carlsson points for our stays in other hotels although all of them were made through Booking.com. ◦ We were quite unhappy with the room service as we had to ask at reception to have our room cleaned. Moreover, my wife was quite shocked to have the room service entered the room without her permission, it was in the morning and they could have knocked first... ◦ I felt like I were in a Nazi camp. The first thing I've heard from the receptionist when we asked if we could rent a bike was: "If something happens, it will cost you three hundred something euros!". How dare? We are here to see the beautiful Streamline Moderne art of Finnish buildings, not to steal bikes. I expected to hear some recommendations on what we could visit but not how much we would pay if we didn't return the bikes! Why would we need them bikes??? • Cleanness We didn't expect to see the 5-mm dust on all lamps. The floor lamp looked as if the last time the room was cleaned was in the xx century. The room had a microwave oven and we had to wash it ourselves because it had the food remnants! • Rooms Our Superior room had to have safe included as it was proudly listed in the room description although we didn't manage to find it in the room. Probably it was masked perfectly so that even the guests couldn't find it.
There is a tram station right in front of the hotel so if you do not like walking it is perfect location. Every morning there is a flea market just around the corner.
The breakfast room is crowded as it is a quite big Hotel .... Many rooms. However, the choice of food itself is good.
View on the port if turning the head on the right. Close to the city center. The staff is polite and works professionally.
In the room 815, the WLAN did not work at all, we had to go to the bar near the reception in order to connect our devices and get access. The room ventilation is noisy at all times.
So looked forward to going Extremely sad to leave Haven't slept so soundly for a couple of weeks Really helpful staff Excellent breakfast choices Great food at Viola Restaurant Close to tram to city centre
Apparently porterage has been dispensed with? Difficulty with suitcase at front entrance - lift had to be requested!
I had a big room with sofa but all rooms are different sizes as it used to be a cheese factory. Breakfast extensive.
A little out of the way - 15 to 20 minutes walk to city centre and 40 to the ferry terminal. My choice though, taxis always waiting outside hotel. Also there's no Seaside, hotel opposite the docks.
We stayed here on two separate occasions within ten days. The second time (three nights) we had a brilliant room - big, with two extremely comfortable twin beds and a sofa bed for our daughters to share. The staff quickly brought us a comfortable extra bed when we pointed out that the sofa bed was too small for two. The view was not great, but much quieter than the harbour (and busy road) view we had the first time. Breakfasts were brilliant - the choice was so extensive that we would have eaten from the buffet three times a day had it been available. Enormous swing in the lobby was popular with all! Very convenient indeed (10 minute walk) for St Peter Line boats to St Petersburg, as well as boats to Tallin. Trams from outside the hotel to the centre of town are fast and frequent.
The first room we stayed in was cramped and the sofa bed too hard and too small for two children (aged 8 and 9) to share comfortably.
Position, breakfast, beds and staff.
The toilet door access that was poorly designed. It could not open fully because of the large basin. Restaurant meals were mediocre for such a good hotel.
+ comfortable bed + wifi throughout the hotel + mainly helpful staff + received a kind present for my birthday
- bad quality breakfast : room is overcrowded, the choice is very wide, but the quality is poor - some of the rooms are not renewed and the bathroom inevitably becomes a swimming pool after each shower - 15-20 min from the city centre on foot - a night bar installed in the hall selling hot dogs and drinks till 1 a.m. (the hall is pretty full with young party people & smells fat everywhere
Very good beds, good service. Celebration of birthday, got a present in the room ☺
Nice clean and quiet room. Good buffet breakfast. We enjoyed using the fitness center and the sauna.
The hotel would not give us our room before 3 pm. No taxi available in the morning. We had to wait 30 minutes.
Great location. Tram stop right outside. Easy to get to all attractions within 10 min. Room was immaculate. Perfect size for our family of 4. Good breakfast. Price was very reasonable compared to other hotels in Helsinki
No air conditioning. Not really the hotel's fault, but we were there on a hot weekend in August. The small fans in the room could not cool down enough for comfort.
Great view to the port, well trained staff, best breakfast, rather good position not too far from city center
Not many English speaking tv chanels but then, who has the time for tv on holiday!
Awesome breakfast, great variety. Friendly & helpful staff a credit to the hotel. Bedroom. Location to city centre
Need a rowing machine in the gym and maybe a tv that shows football in the viola lounge..
Tour guiding from the Hotel staff and good breakfast
Longer open time for Bar, fitness room and Sauna
Very friendly and efficient staff, despite the pressures that they seem to be under due there being too few of them. Lovely spacious family rooms. Good breakfast selections. Easy walk/short tram or taxi ride to the city centre.
Whilst we were at the hotel there were too few staff manning reception and the bar/restaurant.
