The architecture and decor. An uplifting aesthetic experience. The central position, close to the railway station. Two things, one of them very serious. To begin with the less serious thing, we had a double bed, but most of this hotel's guests are unaccompanied businesspeople and the beds have only a single duvet. This is too small for a couple to share and leads to an uncomfortable night. When we mentioned this at checkout, we were told that we could have found an extra or (was it?) double duvet in the cupboard. But that was too late. In my view, the beds in rooms should already be made up to suit the night's occupants. The other problem is much more serious. The bath in our room was a very real safety hazard. The glass panel on the front side extended nearly the entire length of the bath and could not be opened to any significant extent. This meant that there was only a very narrow space between the glass panel and the end wall through which we could enter and exit the bath. Especially but not only under slippery conditions, this was truly treacherous. There was not even a handrail by which we could have steadied ourselves. In the health and safety regimes operated in most European countries, this would not be allowed.

Its location, bang in the middle of Helsinki and it classic styling and furnishing gave it a deep luxurious feel We went during its restauraunt and bar renovation. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was for its services. This wasnt show clearly enough on its web page (tucked under other news section)

The location couldn't be better, right in the central of the city. The hotel has a history it's clearly proud of, the rooms had a fair amount of originality and they have thought through the art they exhibit on the walls of the rooms. Breakfast was slightly dated and in too early hours on Sunday for our liking (7.45-10 am).

The whole ambience. Like many cities a lot of archtectural history is being destroyed and replaced with modern buildings faceless, souless and hotels without character. In many cities I have travelled and hotels stayed in you could be in any city. In the room, toilet bothroom etc on right or left hand side, room straight ahead, decor international and not national etc etc. The Seurahoune Hotel is really one that is steeped in history and even appears in the history films at the National Museum - a bonus! Our room on the 5th floor exactly in the centre overlooking the square was magic. It had snowed and it was like looking down on a Lawry painting. We spent some time each day just looking out as we also had a view over the city. We arrived on Christmas eve and it was very quiet. We knew that most everything would be closed for 3 days but nothing at all was avaialble at the hotel for providing food.or a sandwich. When they say closed they really mean closed. First night was takaway Pizzas or we would have been very hungry!

It was very nice, great location, very comfortable and quite cheap, very beautiful interior It was an amazing stay until my partner slipped in the shower. He injured his knee and has been limping for the last few days, not to mention the bump on his head and hes been dizzy at times. They need shower mats, it may not look fancy but we are a young couple, short on money and support. Id feel really sorry for Seurahuone if some upperclass people come and fell in their shower because of something that could cost 2euros. Atleast next time please advise guests to bring their own mats if they want to avoid injuries

Treat this hotel like an old lady. You can feel the history in this beautiful cultural building. Very nice french-like interior in the room which was very nice. Also breakfast was very good with home-made scrambled eggs and freshly baked bread. The carpet in the lobby and stairs and the chairs in the restaurant definitely need som renewal.

Great location, that's about it. Dire need of updating. Wireless internet is embarrassingly bad making you constantly have to enter in a password ( I did it about 8 times over the course of one night on my mobile phone). Restaurant menu is in serious need of updating, it's clearly still stuck in the 60's/ 70's (white gloves and jacket's for servers, come on...). Food is very dated style and average execution. Great room for the restaurant, but really needs to bring the menu into this century. The TV is very old and unresponsive to the remote control (pushed power 10-12 times before turning on), slow to change channel, etc.

Great location, friendly staff, nice room, very good breakfast. I would use it again as a second place to the Sokos Vaakuna Little bit dated in communal areas, and bar closed earlier than advertised although there were people in it.
