This was absolutely the best place we stayed in Ivalo. The place is located in the middle of the forest surrounded by many lakes which makes it beautiful. The owners are not only owners, they treat you like friends and will pick you at the airport or take you somewhere if you need with no cost. In addition they will let you skis and slides for enjoying the snow arround and the frozen lakes with no charge also. Totally peacefull and quiet and you cannot here any noise a part from nature. In the mornings its nice to walk arround and watch the footprints of animals in the snow (foxes, deers...). Absolutely great hoiday with these owners for sure.

The owners. Both were very helpful to us. Due to an error within booking.com our chalet had been double-booked. The couple that owns Ukonjärven worked very hard and did their best to mitigate and solve a problem that they had not even caused. Be it borrowing equipment or being picked up/dropped off in Ivalo or Inari we felt very well taken care of. Mrs Takkinen is also a great cook and dinner was not at all expensive for what we got (give it a try!). The location on the banks of Lake Inari in the vast forest is amazingly beautiful. Furthermore, since you are a good distance from the next larger settlement (Ivalo) the night sky is breathtaking. The chalet we stayed at was very cosy and had everything we needed. Nothing really. The equipment like skis or snow shoes are not - as the owners put it - "high end", some of the things were a bit dated or there was only limited selection. Then again, they were all free to use, which is not the case in other places.

nice staff, help me to arrange activities, free transportation between hotel and airport or bus station. The host picked up me at airport and then we went to supermarket, and he tell me where is the best place to visit northern light before check-in, he help me to the bus station at the last day. This is a good place to visit northern light, I watched northern light for two nights. far away from cities, 12km away from Ivaloi and 32km away from Inari

it is located near the lake and is a perfect place to see the aurora. since there is no shops or markets nearby, you can enjoy complete tranquility. it would be better if you have a car and if the staff would put more smile on their face.

The location is ideal as the guesthouse is near the railway station by a few minutes walk. The room is big and well-equipped with a kitchen and bathroom, just like an apartment. We satisfied with this guesthouse and recommend to all travellers if you stay in Rovaniemi.

Me and wife stayed at Ukonjarven for 4 nights during second week of January 2013, during our recent trip to Finland. We stayed in a twin room. Room was not so big, but was ok. Chalet looks excellent and some of them are on lake side :-). Pickup service from airport was excellent. Riita was really helpful, so we enjoyed our stay. The location is far from town (20 km from Ivalo). So it will be convinient if you got a car. The location is excellent and the dinner was exceptionally good. We stayed at the property to watch Aurora Borealis. And we were lucky to see the aurora. Lack of ameneties is a probelm while staying , if you do not got a car. For us Riita was really helpful and she arranged lifts to the town center, which was lovely. Overall a excellent place to stay and watch aurora. Struggled to open the locks of twin room. :-) But later we realised that , it is a common issue with most of the old style rooms in Finland

Riitta and her husband form a humorous couple. They offer simple touches to make our stay a wonderful one. We can tell that they are really passionate lovers of nature! My brother and I also enjoyed 1) the peaceful, quiet Inari Lake where we savoured the beautiful dances of the Northern Light for a few nights in a row. 2) the husky sledding by their partner, Jukka. 3) very modern though small museum in Ivalo (about half hr bus ride away) *Good Location* One should highly consider this place if one's objective of the trip includes seeing the aurora. A good indication upon arriving is.. if one can see the entire sky filled with stars (i.e. v clear sky), chances of Aurora can be high (this was true for our 4-night stay in mid-Jan), since this is sufficiently North. The wifi connection was not entirely stable, but it was really better than having no wifi in the rooms.

The pick up service is excellent..they really try their best to answer your question n help us. The dinner is real localstyle food n it is delicious..also, the lake is really fantastic to see northern light. The place is really good to see.northern light...the room is fantastic...with own sauna n big...is the best stay in finland for me。。also, appreciarw them to help us to arrange the husky safari..is a small family style business....the service is very very good but the very cute husky....they all grow up in a happy environment with willie..recommend to order winter activities from them ..which is a big cheaper than lapland large company..n small group service is more memorable..yeah. Not enough signal on the lake...hard to find at night..and if u have any question,u have to walk to reception...

We went December 10th until December 18th. The location was beautiful, very quiet and remote. The cabin was gorgeous, all wood and very spacious with a sauna that was just perfect! It was so warm inside that we never needed to light a fire. The views from the windows included snow filled forest and reindeer would often dig right outside. Just a short walk away was the frozen lake that we walked across and saw the Northern Lights. If you fancy somewhere peaceful, magical and quiet (where you possibly won't see anyone else) this place really is perfect. The only potential problem was the lack of amenities but really we wanted remote so that's what we got! The nearest supermarket is not walkable but the owners of Ukonjarven were lovely and offered lifts so we could get food. A taxi back from the supermarket cost 22 euros. There are buses but not many and after missing 1 at 11am we decided not to wait until the 2pm one as it got dark between 3-4pm and we worried about missing the stop on the way back!

Everything was wonderful, the master was very nice. The ginger bread was delicious. The cabin was better and confortable than another famous resort. Although the public transportation are not convenient, they provide the good pick up service. Many thanks for the hospitality they showed me. The lock was difficult to open

Ukonjarven is about ten miles north of Ivalo in the countryside next to a lake. It is a lovely peaceful place to stay. We stayed in a chalet (D2) which was very comfortable. We loved having our own sauna and a log fire which made it very cosy. The chalet is quite spacious and isn't too close to neighbouring chalets. We went husky sledging at Wildsport which was about three miles south off the E75 which was great. We didn't get to see the northern lights unfortunately. we had rented a car which we found more convenient for visiting Inari, going to the supermarket in Ivalo etc. but got the impression that people staying in the area used taxis so that's a possibility

Good pick-up service! (We were picked up at the bus station in Ivalo.) The cabin room was comfortable, with a shared kitchen. The forest and the lake were beautiful and serene. It's a good place to be alone and enjoy the calmness of nature. The host and hostess are nice and welcoming. Unfortunately the weather was never good enough to see the northern lights. It was always cloudy and snowy. The hotel does not offer activities like aurora hunt or husky/reindeer ride for the guests to choose from. The traffic from Inari is a bit inconvenient (there was bus to Inari but no return in the evening).

This was a low cost option without any knowledge of the area. They had a shared cooking area but it did not have any dish rack or towels. The owner was very nice and you could get meals there. The facilities were in need of minor repair. The lock was difficult to open. There were no towels and the tv was limited to Finland stations.

Absoluut niets!
