Set in an orthodox monastery by Lake Juojärvi, Valamon Luostari offers peaceful accommodation and outdoor activities like hiking and skiing. Joensuu city centre is 55 minutes’ drive away. The bright, basic rooms at Valamon Luostari have either shared or private bathroom facilities. Some rooms have free Wi-Fi access. Breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets are served at Restaurant Trapesa. Beverages, snacks and doughnuts are available throughout the day. Guests can participate in church services and view the religious icons on display in the monastery. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere, beautiful ortodox closter, affordable and tasty dinner in the restaurant. Really tasty white wine made of berries locally in the monastery. Buy a bottle for your friends Kitchen is closed after 17:00 if you stay there not i summer. Need to eat at the nearest gasoline station in the evenings..

Tranqulity,beauty of nature,openness,unpretencious,queit and peaceful lovely silent walk at night across the frozen lake the food is on offer in buffet style until 7pm,cafe until 9pm. monastery beer very good! there is sauna as part of the deal ,too! religious part is totally voluntary. in service you can come and go as you wish (we stayed just some 10 minutes)..or not go at all! all is fine!

The place is definitely worth seeing if you're seking for relaxing spiritual stay or are religious. Even though it is an Eastern Orthodox monastery, people with other religious beliefs are also welcome as long as they respect their rules. It is clean and calm place and not that much touristic in autumn. The working hours of the restaurant are bit misleading - it works until 20:00, but you can get hot food only during buffet working hours (until 17:00). We were bit late, but were still able to get hot food, but otherwise it would be a problem.

We like the nice atmosphere in the whole region of Valamon and the historical background with the oppurtunity to visit the prayers service. We have been once before in Valamon and we will come back again. Thank you for your ^good service.

уютные номера, очень доброжелательное обслуживание. на ресепшене по- русски не говорят, но быстро нашли русскую служащую елену, которая очень подробно и доброжелательно все объяснила.

Понравилось практические все. Природа вокруг, сам монастырь, доброжелательные люди вокруг. Очень тихо, хорошо. Все, что нужно для спокойного отдыха от суеты. Сам монастырь настраивает на определенный лад. Мы ехали в православный центр духовной жизни, поэтому существенных недостатков для нас нет.
