Shabby, need sprucing up
the extractor fans in the bathrooms didn't work and one room we stayed in had mould growing on the ceiling and my partner got a chest infection as a result
Fijian Staff were wonderful...helpful and showed me much kindness. If not for them i would have left. As a former NZ Police officer the massage parlour issue was not enough to send me away. I stayed purely because of those lovely Fijian people who worked there.
Hotel needs to decide is it a Hotel or a place rooms to let for the adjoining massage parlour. I assume thats why the phone didnt work..the tv didnt work for my entire 9 days..as people are not in the business of staying in the rooms longer than an hour or two. The hotel is like a beautiful woman who hasnt looked after herself. It could be so good. The Korean sailors waiting in the lobby for ladies were off putting to say the least.Hotel management need to decide which business they want to be involved in ????
The workers were good and friendly
No swimming pool no phone there website is a fake they should change it
The location was convenient for walking around Suva
The hotel charges a 5% mark-up on credit card payments, instead of the customary 3%. The service was pretty bad. When we checked in, there was a dirty towel on the floor, and the following day the linen and towels had not been changed. Despite our complaints, we received no maid service that day, other than the removal of the breakfast trays and dirty towels, which we left outside the room in disgust that afternoon. The fairly ordinary breakfast was always delivered late.
The hotel was under construction (it was not informed during booking) There was no aircon in the room. TV and telephone was not working. most of the lights in the room was not working. Inside was always dark. And the house-keeping did not clean the room till we complained at 6pm. There was no swimming pool and no cafeteria for breakfast. Breakfast was supposedly served in the room. I asked for 9am but it was brought in at 7am. Cold. Overall - the facilities and staff were all well below standard and I have never stayed in a place like Southern Cross in my entire travels around the world.
management booking system over charged for credit cards (5%) and refuse guest to pay cash TV is not working bathroom leaking, water comes to the bedside regret to booking online
1.The room given was roomy, with a balcony. 2. Walking distance to the Town.
1. Got the impression that they really wanted your money first and did not care of the facilities to the occupants. 2. A.C. will cool the room after 2 hours with 16 degrees. 3. T.V. and telephone not in working order from day 1, had to go down 4 floors to talk to the front desk, until we left. 4. High speed free Wi-Fi works at a snails speed. 5. Toilet tissues was of very cheap quality. 6. No safe for safe keeping our valuables, no tissue boxes supplied. 7. The free breakfast given was cold. 8. The view from the balcony was anything other than beautiful.
False adverting in terms of daily rates (NZ $ vs Fiji $) The hotel only offered F$1.40 per NZ$1 - banks & currency exchange agencies gave us F$1.49 per NZ$1 - so a big loss. F$156 a day is too exoensive. A far superior and modern Peninsular International Hotel in Suva only charges F$150 per day for a superior room with daily breakfast. Many shortcomings in service at Southern Cross. Room TV never worked. Daily breakfast hopeless. Overall, very poor value for money.
poor breakfast, TV didn't work, no airconditioning remote in room, No coffee shop
Staff was very friendly. Hotel is located very near to centre of Suva.
Mattress was very very hard.
I love the Room Service breakfast. The view is excellent...
The building is old but I guess they are renovating it. More TV channels would be good so we can have more options to choose from.
An excellent spot for a short stop over-value for money, central to city shopping amneties and fantastic friendly staff.
Staff were very friendly .
This hotel location is central and convinience to all facilities
Felt rooms where not worth the price. ...too expensive. Old and wetty floor no mats available
Location, free unlimited wifi with good connection, breakfast served in the room
A little pricey but all in all worth it,had to step out to the balcony to get wifi
staff was good , esp the gal that brought our breakfast in the morning, really nice and she always made our day.
would be nice if they had a lounge downstairs with nice entertaint or a bar .....just to relax rather than going out but overall loved the place. :)
Old warm charm. We stayed in the presidential suite. The furniture is beautiful. We would love to know who designed it and where we could get some. Not sure if it would make it to Los Angeles. The breakfast delivered to our room was wonderful and helped us get a good morning start. The staff were friendly and quickly brought up another single bed for our 2nd teenager.
The bathrooms are outdated and could use some upgrading. More towels in better quality would be nice. The internet is intermittent and we had to move around the room to get better service. It would be great if milk was provided for the tea and coffee. Food options closer to hotel would have helped. We had to walk down the street at night to the gas station to pick up some essentials. Accessing our suite from the outside was a bit awkward.
Location is so central.
I liked everything and was impressed overall.
Location is very good and staff are friendly
The furniture was falling apart, bed was very uncomfortable, no face or wash towels
good location to have business with government agenices, kind staffs
too much noise from outside all night
Excellent location, staff all friendly & informative of places safe to go too. All staff members were extremely work conscious, yet ensured they had the time to be polite and have a laugh with the clients. Thanks for your part to ensure we had a great holiday while in Suva.
The establishment next door using up the car park of the hotel. 'Their' visitors and 'their' staff should stay on their grounds, this including them not walking through the grounds of the Hotel to get from their place of residence to their work. It is not good for the clients of the hotel to be expected to put up with this other business that is not a part of the hotel.
Close to town, clean rooms, friendly and competent staff, rooms well priced
Older room, a little shabby
