Very nice, spacious rooms. Delightful location and thoroughly pleasant staff. Lovely base from which to explore the northern parts of the islands.
Minor gripe: WiFi doesn't reach to second building.
Surroundings Friendly staff
Small downstairs room without a view - compared to the price Tiny tiny bathroom
Fast internet in main building .Beautiful area.. Nice rooms in annex.
There was a conference and we were not allowed to sit in restaurant - thats nok ok. Staff having breakfast with the guests. Sitting talking and you dont pay for that.
Stunning environment, a wonderful place. Room with a fantastic view. Lovely staff!!
Nothing the hotel could change :). But the bus transport back to Torshavn was really unreliable. If I had had a flight this day, I would have missed it. Always plan with a buffer when travelling there!!!
The location is very good for tours in Faroer. Quiet and beatiful scenery. We stayed in the Annex building, so no noise from other rooms, but also no Wifi. Dinner was one day excellent local food (buffet), the other day ok cantine food. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We could leave one day earlier due to travel changes without problems. Great!
The breakfast was ok, limited selection, not great for the price of the room. The room was not made every day. The dinner place is quite small for the number of rooms, we had to wait for our dinner to get seats. The main building furnitures are a bit youth hostel style.
Location fantastic. Eric (host) was very helpful. Beds comfy, in floor heating worked a treat, breakfast was great.
Shower arrangement in bathroom leaves water everywhere, wasn't a huge problem, but separate shower or shower screen would be nice. Dinner was satisfactory, but not outstanding; that said, we soon discovered that there is nowhere decent to eat on Faroe Islands except in Torshavn, so food at Gjaargardur seemed pretty good when we considered the alternative.
Incredible location: the best small town in the entire Faroe Islands Incredibly friendly and helpful staff Great food Quite large rooms
Good location and good breakfast. Staff very friendly & helpful.
No shower curtain
Lovely place, nice staff, comfortable room and bed
Stayed two nights at Gjaargardur Guesthouse. Was given a room at annex building which is a pleasant surprise (as the Annex room was sold out at booking time). The owners/staff are really nice. On the first day of arrival, the manager Erik helped us to settle something with the previous hotel (regarding the luggage storage). On the day of departure, we did not know that we have to call the bus company to arrange for the morning bus. The lady manager actually helped us to tag along one of her guests to Torshavn! Even though the meals at the restaurant were fixed by the guesthouse but the dinners were really superb!
In the far north of Faroe, in its own waterside hamlet, with wholesome interesting food and not many frills. The drive there is the best bit. How can you not like grass-roofed buildings?
The internal design lacks passion and flair, which would not matter were it not in such a fabulous position.
Gorgeous location, decent breakfast, helpful staff. Liked the eco-friendly aspect as well.
Don't expect to get a lot of sleep here...corridors are tiled and doors not muffled, walls are also very thin, so expect to wake up with whoever is the first riser on your floor. Also pretty overpriced for what is basically a comfortable guesthouse...but then, that's what you get with the only accommodations for 50km.
Eirik, the manager, scores top marks for his friendly service. Very impressed. If you like peace, quiet and tranquil environment, this place has it all.
The owner was extremely helpful; our flight to Vagar was delayed several hours however he stayed up past midnight to help direct us to the Guesthouse. The bed was very comfortable.
The accomodation and staff were excellent. No mobile link that is good. Extremally helpfull and good english speaking reception and staff. Our staying was pleasant and very comfortable.
Excellent stay. No regret. Setting is simply stunning
Drive is a bit far but not a major issue at all for us.
I'd avoid this guesthouse if possible, but I realize that accommodation options in the islands are limited and generally overprized
A basic guesthouse at the cost of a fancy hotel. Our room was in a horrible concrete building and had zero privacity. WiFi was only available in the main building, which looked more like a hostel with plenty of guests smackminto small cubicles. Rooms are cleaned only every second day.
Emplacement and comodity
An atmospheric guesthouse with obliging, English-speaking staff, unique of its type on the main islands.Comfy rooms and wonderfully soft beds. Hearty, one option only supper and Scandinavian buffet breakfast. Dining room has panoramic views over the valley and village. Good base for exploring from, subject to usual proviso that most Faroese villages and towns don't cater much for visitors.
Not much to do in Gjogv village or anywhere nearby when the weather turns nasty.
