Ambiance, friendliness and knowledge of owners, willingness of owners to help, quality of breakfast.
Had to carry bags up 20 steps.
- the understatedly luxurious decor - Casanera toiletries and room scent from Corsica smelt amazing - the peaceful atmosphere - excellent breakfast, good coffee - being able to make a cup of tea or coffee in the communal kitchen
- it might be difficult to have a long lie-in because of the noise from breakfast preparations just a few metres away (this may not be an issue for other bedrooms further away from the kitchen)
Location was fabulous, and the concept is wonderful.
Great location Owners know the area and can make excellent recommendations for restaurants Room was very comfortable with top shelf amenities Good breakfast service
WIFI needs improvement
The location is fantastic, in a bustling area but the windows were soundproofed so we had 3 great nights sleep. The rooms were perfectly clean, spacious enough and the facilities were great. The owners were friendly and very helpful, offered to help plan each day to get the most out of the trip. Breakfast was perfectly adequate, and a bonus being included in the price.
The only negative is that the hotel is not always manned, and as a result there was nobody at the hotel to greet us on arrival. Having said that, very clear instructions were sent to us on how to access the hotel and our room, and Juliette (one of he owners) was always available via phone or email, so this did not prove to be a problem.
Breakfast, Rooms, Service, Owners, Location,
Wifi was a little temperamental
Pull up luggage 10 steps up to the hotel
The location, the facilities, the breakfast, the warm hospitlity , the comfort and the design all at a fair price
The gloomy coridor leading to the appartment
Quiet, convenient location, close to Hotel de Ville. Loved the 60's decor and hand picked items that adorn this spotless hotel. Warm welcome from Juliette & Serge, both happy to give helpful advise about the area. A real feeling of living like a Parisienne.
The design of the place and the generosity of our hosts, that helped us reach unique places in Paris . With those tips we felt for week as a real Parisiens. Perfect place and very recommended.
The wifi connection
The location is good. The staff are kind. The breakfast is good.
The room is small, and wifi is terrible
Room was clean and comfortable, shower excellent, local information booklet that was produced by the hotel was great as it covered both first timers to Paris as well as people like us who had visited quite a few times. As others have said, breakfast really is great.
This a small hotel/apartment stay in the heart of the Marais district. It feels like a home away from home. The rooms are beautifully decorated with a wonderful shower after a long day walking around Paris. Breakfast of croissants, baguettes, pain au chocolat and fruit/yoghurt will set you up for a day of sightseeing. This is a wonderful location for everything you want to see. Notre Dame, the Louvre, Latin Quarter, many museums and the wonderful Marais district are all within walking distance. I would definitely stay here again. What a great find!
Fantastic location. Juliette is a fantastic hostess and goes out of her way to make sure everyone is happy. The place is spotless - thank you to the cleaning staff! Our bed was beautifully made up and very comfortable. Breakfast is a real treat.
We had a sleepless night on our first night at 1er Etage. We were on a room overlooking the street and although the soundproofing is far superior to that of most Parisian hotels we were kept awake by the sound of motorbikes until the early hours. I bought ear plugs for the second night and slept perfectly!
The room was clean and comfortable. The common area was adequate. The breakfast was good and selection plentiful.
Very difficult, steep stairs to access. I would not recommend this to anyone with more than a light carryon bag. The ad about easy access is very deceptive. The promoted a taxi strike to use a car service which was not true. Luckily we didn't listen and called for our own taxi for airport pickup. The sink/shower location offers no privacy if traveling with someone.
unique hotel with only 5 rooms, but decorated with 50s decor and furniture.excellant attention to detail.
Innkeepers are delightful and most helpful. Rooms are new and very comfortable. Breakfast is wonderful. Close to everything
One flight up stairs.
Everything was perfect! Looking forward to my next stay :-)
Great location, quiet rooms, very comfortable and homey. Juliette and Serge with help anytime with whatever you might need. Wonderful breakfast every day.
Live like a Parisian.....How perfect we had a wonderful stay such a chic boutique hotel with the most trendy lively part of Paris on your doorstep The rooms were immaculate and very individual also very quiet for the centre of Paris Juliette and Serge we're helpful and their staff very obliging I would highly recommend this hotel
First, the location is perfect- right on the center of the most live-full areas of Paris (Le Marais). Although there are so many restaurants, bars and boutique shops at the area, the hotel is totally quiet and peaceful. Second- the hospitality. The couple that runs the hotel is doing all they can to make you feel at home and "Parisian". The breakfast, which included in the room rate, is an opportunity to meet with other guest, and mainly to get tips and advises from the hosts. The rooms are comfortable and well decorated; everything is new (opened just at 2013); beverages and fruits are offered free for all day long, and everything is "saying"- you're very welcomed. Highly recommended!
The accommodation/room The owners were lovely and so helpful Lovely style and interiors Convenient location Quiet at night despite being on a busy street, well sound proofed windows
Noise from the sitting/dining area during breakfast service started from 7am and made a sleep-in impossible
The room and value. The staff was very helpful. Although breakfast could not be enjoyed in the room, it was very good.
The entry from the street. The fact that there is no reception at check in. No help with luggage upon arrival (no elevator), which can be troublesome for older travellers.
Intimate and friendly. Very central. Quiet ,secure and clean.
The stairs are a little tricky with large suitcases
The location is fantastic, the hosts Serge and Juliet are very helpful, restaurant recommendations were excellent, and the rooms, breakfast and kitchen are excellent. A great concept, great value in Paris.
