    location to wine route.

No english spoken and no attempt to help. Wairess/ receptionist pushing us to eat in restaraunt. Menu very "french" with snails, frogs legs and pate de grass, which is fine if that is what you are looking for. Personally I found it all pretentious. No lift, or assistance offered. No signs for "À L'aigle D'or" visible in village - only signs for "Marcs " had to stop and ask. wi fi useless

Renovated room, with a modern bathroom, nice location in a quiet village. Trustworthy, clean looking bed linen, though the bed is a bit frail. Good parking place. For a French hotel, there is rarely any better to expect.

Although the hotel advertises sound-proofed rooms, this is completely deceiving. From our superior room we could hear every sound from the neighbors' room.Luckily they were civilized persons and did not bother us late in the night. Secondly, the lady at the reception could have been more welcoming- note, that I speak fluent French so no effort required whatsoever.Thirdly, payment is requested when you check-in(and before seeing the room), which I find very unusual.

The restaurant and the the location. It is not in Guebwiller and.all for the better. It is close to the middle of nowhere and the twice I have stayed there my overwhelming memory is all you can hear is, the birds twittering. The restaurant punches well above its weight for quality and the meals are excellent value for money. Euros 180 for full dinner with aperatifs, 2 bottles of good wine, bed and breakfast and a good night's sleep for 2. Can't be beat. Great base for hikers and bikers (of the more mature age)

Only being able to stay one night

A modern, spacious and comfortable room in what is otherwise a very traditional inn set in a quiet village location. Parking was available either right by the hotel or in the public car park across the street. The staff were very welcoming and friendly.

The shower running cold and having to hop out until the water temperature returned to normal

Loved the room, cleanliness and the location, breakfast was plentiful and great range for all. The owners immediately advised that there would be no one around to greet us but provided instructions for access to the hotel and also recommendations for dinner in the local area.

Stayed on a Monday - place is closed and it's a small village in the middle of nowhere - after a long drive a cold beer and ice cream would have been great but not possible in this village.

Both restaurant and the hotel are run with passion by the owners who have been very kind and patient with us (we have a two year old girl who sometimes can be a bit noisy). The room was very comfortable.

I would recommend to have a broader selection of wines with even more focus on the local wine makers. My navigator pointed us to a wrong destination though the hotel was indicated all the way through.

Very nice staff. Dinner at their restaurant was excellent. Large room with nice view. Great hiking within walking distance. Beautiful area.

The church bells nearby were very loud.

A Little Pearl of a hotel situated in a beautiful and quiet village in the Mountains. The superior rooms are large and modern. Ideal for hiking in the Mountains og relaxing in the hotel garden. Fine restaurant.

The male owner was absolutely lovely, spoke excellent English and packed us a superb picnic for our hike. As a vegetarian they had only a plate of vegies on offer to eat, but they were the nicest vegetables I've ever eaten!

We were really on holiday in Germany but popped over to Alsace for a bit of French food. The girl in the hotel spoke NO English or German (I am fluent in both so didn't mind which) and the female owner was very huffy and spoke to us in French despite knowing both some English and quite good German. Her attitude made us extremely uncomfortable. The room was hot and surprisingly loud with the windows open, such that I couldn't sleep (I'm a light sleeper). Unfortunately we couldn't wait to leave France as a result of staying here :-(
