La Ferme du Bois Barbu is located in the centre of Vercors Regional Park, 3 km from Villard de Lans town centre. It offers chalet-style rooms with wooden floors and furniture. Each room is equipped with free Wi-Fi access, a TV, and a private bathroom with bathroom amenities. The restaurant offers traditional regional cuisine made with fresh local produce. Very friendly staff and very responsive to my requests. Since I was on a late-summer hiking holiday, the location was perfect. My room was large and comfortable (one of the more comfortable beds I've slept in for a French hotel) and included a private shower/WC. I also took advantage of the half-board (1 meal per day + breakfast) and was pleased with the quality of the food. I think thought the menu was put together well and the food was excellent. One note about the location: It is located about 1.5 km (~1 mile) from the center of Villard de Lans and is not walkable from town. If you don't have your own vehicle, you will need to call the hotel to have them pick you up from the village center.

This place was gorgeous and only a few minutes away from the lovely Gorges du Borne by car. The whole place took my breath away. The hotel is perched right above a mountain with the most humble and welcoming couple. Our room was really dainty, we were right on top with a lovely window that opened up to the sky. Be warned that everything closes at 9pm if not earlier. One of the nights we got to the hotel rather late around 11:00 or so and we weren't able to find a restaurant in sight. We snuck into the kitchen and catered to our bellies with a loaf of bread and some butter from the pantry. We informed the staff the next day about it and they were so calm about it and advised us that everything is shut by 9pm to try and grab something to eat by 8pm the next time.

Very friendly owners and managers.good food .good walks nearby.nice rural location.easy to find after a long drive. The public rooms were a little tired,especially the stairs. Not really much of a problem as the bedrooms were fine and the whole place has rural charm.

The family who run this hotel are very friendly and helpfull. The food is good and local ,which is why we chose this location. The down side was that on the morning we continued our journey there was a road divertion which took us on some very technical mountain roads.
