Grand Hôtel de l'Abbaye

Hotel interioir were stunning and rooms stylishley designed. Staff although only saw two on call were very helpful and freindley.Not having a restaurant was not as big an issue as I thought as there were several good eating places within easy walking distance.

Fantastic old historic building with the most amazing staircase, massive room, overlooking the Loire. We sat on the picturesque terrace with a bottle of wine - bliss. Staff were amazingly helpful which created a really nice friendly atmosphere with other guests. Breakfast was fantastic, tad expensive but considering everything on offer, very enjoyable. Even an diy fresh orange squeezer. Shame restaurant wasn't open, think it was a temporary close though. Cycle friendly.

The bathroom wasn't set up to have a shower, we had to hold the shower head over each other, and no shower curtain so we had to watch the water from going on the floor! Not sure why the large spacious bathroom was painted dark blue as didn't match the beautiful room but hey,,, not a major!

Exellent location, atmosphere, breakfast, city.

Friendly and helpful staff, rooms are tastefully decorated, clean and comfortable. The shampoo and bath lotion are a real plus. It is also right next to the river and the historic town.

The character and atmosphere of the hotel were fantastic - a real WOW as you walk in. The location right by the Loire and within walking distance of the very picturesque town including a good choice of eateries was perfect.

More could be made of the fantastic location and building. Old does not have to mean 'fusty'. We would expect electrical connections to work at a touch of a button, not require fiddling! The staff, although friendly and polite, were not always efficient, particularly at the expensive breakfast when items needed to be requested several times. Also, an extremely noisy pop concert/fair directly opposite on our arrival evening did nothing for the tranquility of the location and detracted strongly from the surroundings. Perhaps the local council could reconsider that. We would have expected better from such an expensive hotel.

Superb breakfast. Great ambiance in the stairway leading to the rooms. Friendly staff especially the receptionist/ manager (can't recall her name but she was very helpful and pleasant)

Rooms were a little disappointing - poor quality construction/ rennovation.

The Abbey has been symperthetically restored and is a lovely building over looking the Loire Riverin a delightful village with a few touristy conveniences.

The Grand Hôtel de l'Abbaye did not have a Restaurant so how can it call itself a Hotel? Our bedroom was very basic, dusty and dirty. The man on reception desk tried to charge us again even though the hotel took the whole amount on booking the oom some two months earlier. He did not apologise even though he knew he was at fault! The Continental Breakfast was nothing special and is 16 euro's p.p. We recomend you go to the top of the street where you can buy the same breakfast for a lot less.

The local position facing the river. The acess to the internet. The silence. The proximity with historic buildings. The guide book offering good restaurants.

No service reception during the night. Very old electrical instalation in the room: Poor light and Refrigerator not freezing. No A/c in the room ( hot nights)

Acommodating and very unique.

Staff were friendly and helpful (booked a table in a local restaurant) and the hotel has parking. 12 o' clock checkout is great.

Our room was separate to the main building, very small and quite dark. We had a musty blanket and the room was very hot. In addition several people tried to walk into the room, mistaking it for the hotel. We didn't take breakfast (€15per person) as there are plenty of nice creperies around the town. Based on our experience this is a 3 star hotel, and overpriced as such.
