Avignon Grand Hôtel is ideally located just outside the city’s Middle Age walls. It is a 15-minute walk from Palais des Papes and offers a small rooftop pool.
Score from 748 reviews Very good
Just 10 minutes from Avignon and exit 23 on highway A7, this hotel is in a charming Provencal house with a magnificent and peaceful garden. Guests can enjoy massages on site for an additional fee.
Score from 206 reviews Excellent
Ideally located in the small town of Le Pontet, only 2.5 miles from the center of Avignon, the hotel offers air conditioned rooms with flat-screen TVs.
Score from 133 reviews Good
Located between Avignon and Carpentras in an exceptional setting, this former 18th century post office, completely refurbished, is a perfect place for your business or leisure trip in Vaucluse.

staff excellent, restful surroundings, well marked to locate the property
nothing there to upset any traveller
The food was OK but not exciting. It was however not expensive.
The aircondition did not work properly in the room. The room was dark and dull. The bathroom not fresh and so on. The room was too expensive.
No food no wi fi in room no English tv in room nowhere to relax had to find supermarket to find food to eat in our room. Too far at our gar to find another place to eat.AVOID At all cost. Not cheap !!!!!!!!
Having stayed in some fantastic (similarly priced) hotels during our 10 day stay in Provence, and on the basis of previous positive reviews we arrived with high expectations. However from the outset our experience was less than ideal. The receptionist first asked if we were a party of six, when there were obviously only two of us (they'd received our two suitcases by taxi in advance). She then escorted us to our second floor room, and on reaching the door apologised that she'd brought us to the wrong floor. We'd booked a 'Superior" room which was not the case; on our arrival there was barely any toilet paper on the only roll and a completed questionnaire left by the previous clients was still on the bedside locker. The room decor was very basic, and gouges in the wall (from suitcase handles etc) had been covered with a large/unsightly piece of white perspex, and the spa bath didn't work. The staff weren't very attentive; I reported the non-functional bath to a member of the housekeeping team who told me I had to report this directly at reception. As individual issues some of the inadequacies I've identified would have been almost inconsequential, but there were too many unsatisfactory episodes during our 2 night stay. We had intended to eat at the highly recommended restaurant, but based on our experience of the hotel itself we changed our minds. A final comment is that, as other reviewers have remarked, the hotel is a substantial distance (45 minute walk) from Avignon centre in a rather run-down sprawling urban area.
Decor. Building. Peace.
The location in relation to the old part of the city.
Needs a face lift. Restaurant was closed so we were forced to go out. No wifi in the bedroom.
Out of 3 receptionist only 1 spoke English! For 4star hotel that's very poor. We ate one dinner at the hotel. The taste was excellent but we had to wait 1.5 hours for the meal (the starter) which is simply not acceptable.
very nice,i do love this beautiful hotel.
Beautiful gardens, cleanliness of hotel, courtesy and helpfulness of staff.
Only one small bar of soap for 2 people for 3 nights, no facecloths in bathroom, no facial tissues first 2 nights, and most importantly, no mat for the shower. The shower floor was very slippery and there was neither a mat nor a safety bar to facilitate a safe entry and exit from the shower. This is of great importance to us senior travellers.
Wifi very poor Mosquitoes in the rooms!
The hotel is convenient for Avignon itself, there is an excellent Park and Ride nearby. The hotel is set in very pleasant grounds and is very quiet. The staff are professional and charming, the food is excellent and the bed was superbly comfortable.
I would have liked more choice on the evening menu; the hairdryer was very poor and difficult to use; the lighting in the bedroom was inadequate to read by. But these are small quibbles and I would stay there again.
