Hotel Aiglon    

Hotel in Art Deco style - comfortable place to stay and very local to beach, restaurants and bus stops. Easy to travel to Monaco from here. Pool definitely a bonus.

The period architecture of the hotel and the wonderful interiors of the public rooms and entrance were what made the stay so special. The room was a good size and the balcony overlooking the garden was just right. The period furniture in the room added to the ambience. The gardens and pool were a delight and an oasis of calm and green. Staff were multi lingual and very helpful. The location was great; near bus stops for local and airport buses;close to the Promonade du Soleil and and a leisurely walk into the centre of town.

The lift was very small; one person and luggage at a time was only possible. The steps up and into the hotel entrance were a bit tricky with cases. Unfortunately, during our stay, there was a smell of drains just inside the front door which was offputting, especially as once past that, the hotel was very clean indeed.

Good value - good location

Everything was perfect.

We enjoyed the faded elegance of the fin de siecle building and the general ambience. The breakfast was good and the staff very friendly and helpful. The hotel's location was good - central and close to sea front.

The location was good, one block from the ocean. The hotel has great old world charm.

The hotel is very dated, bordering on run-down. Staff could be more attentive.

It is a great position to visit Monaco. Bus 100 metres away takes you in to Casino etc for one euro. Hotel has off street parking but you have to pay for it.

Booked a comfort room but was more like an economy room. It was tiny. Shower over bath with no screen so floor got soaked.

A lot of charm in this 19th century mansion, a lot of potential to create an historical family house atmosphere. A private park with plenty of trees and vegetal species of many kinds, an attractive terrace for breakfast, and a nice and large swimming pool. The appartment we had for four persons was very well designed (two separate large bedrooms, with two bathrooms and split toilets).

Cleaning of the room is approximative. Lack of maintenance of room appliances (window shelter blocked, lock of bathroom broken, light bulbs broken, shower evacuation did not operate well). This is a shame because such things are rather easy to fix and organise. In my views (and I travel a lot), a lack of professional supervision over hotel service staff.

Location in Menton was good and also proximity to Monaco.

Hotel was nice but fairly run down. Breakfast was severely over priced and unsatisfactory. The steps at the entrance of the hotel were difficult with a suitcase.

I have never felt quite so at home in a hotel as I did at the Hotel Aiglon. It has a wonderful atmosphere. The staff are very friendly, helpful and relaxed. The hotel is spacious with beautiful high ceilings, windows and doors. It opens in the middle with a large sweeping staircase and a huge arched-window which was wide open as I walked in. It is highly decorative in typical Victorian-style and reminds one of a grand era gone by. I was delighted to be handed a proper key to our spacious junior suite and everything was clean and in good working order, including the air conditioning unit and the bed was comfortable. It is a real gem directly reflecting the character of the town, Menton.

Rather like raffles of Singapore before it was modernized. Don.t do the same with this lovely old hotel!

The room was not as big as I would have expected for a superior double, the one shown as an example on the net appeared much bigger. The breakfast was extra and very basic, so much so that we opted not to try an evening meal there.

Exquisite building dating back to the late nineteenth century typical of the heyday of the French Riviera. The elaborate internal decoration still in very good original order. This hotel has a certain old-world style and charm - breakfast was served individually outside in the garden which is beautiful. Continental breakfast was very acceptable and totally adequate. The swimming pool and hotel restuarant also add to the charm and comfort of the place. Rooms are air-conditioned and the bathroom weel appointed. The Hotel Aiglon is right next to the bus stops for the 100 Nice-Monaco-Menton bus which runs along the coast so is very convenient - the bus fare from Nice to Menton is only 1 EUR, about 80 p Sterling (really!!) with buses every twenty minutes throughout the day.

This Hotel was lovely however needs a good lick of paint. Its a lovely building with huge ceilings and fairly sized rooms, i felt like i was staying in an old stately home. It just needs a bit of a revamp and a little love and it would be stunning!

A lovely hotel in a good location for a visit to Menton and with easy parking facilities. The staff were very helpful and friendly and our room was very comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast outside in the garden was a real treat. We would have liked to stay longer!

We were put in a basement room which smelled of dampness.and the corridors were littered with old furniture.we were relocated and the rooms are generally ready for an upgrade.the pool has green alge and the water was not clean.Our friends had to block the gap on their bedroom door have found a cockroach scampering around.

Beautiful garden with a decent swimming pool. The sea is only 100 m. away. The hotel has the charm of a grand old villa, it is not spotless and needs some paint - but the charm makes up for it. The restaurant is definitly worth a visit - they have a good wine list. Try to get a room away from the main road. Parking (for a fee).
