Short on parking
Centre of the city.
Asked for a room with me wife having problems walking. Given a room with 42, yes 42 steps up to the room. 84 steps to the room and back. No way.. Parking as well is a great problem in the city.. very tight at all times.
The hotel is perfectly placed on arrival by very or train. It is also very central for the St Malo attractions.
Very noisy plumbing from other units. Fortunately everyone was settled by 11pm
The position of the hotel within the walls was pleasant.
1. The web site said that this hotel had free parking which was why we chose it - there is no parking. 2. The bedroom was so small you had to move by numbers - there was more room to get dressed in the bathroom than there was in the bedroom. 3. There was no lift and incomplete stair rails which on steep tightly curving stairs was quite dangerous. 4. The room for breakfast was too squashed up and we were constantly bumped by people walking past. 5. The external air conditioning unit fixed just outside the bathroom window was very noisy. 6. The staff made no attempt to assist with luggage despite seeing that we were struggling with it on the stairs.
Location is excellent just inside the city walls Public parking is within walking distance for Euro 1.10 per hour 9-19h Wi fi worked well Breakfast was great Staff were very helpful and friendly Bed and bathroom were good
Every night was difficult to sleep with noise from the street - drinkers, late night party goers and then trucks and cars in the early morning If you close the windows to keep out the noise, then the room is too hot with no fan or AC. such a pity for an otherwise lovely place.
Staff were very friendly and helpful
I first fell in love with the looks of the building. our room had a lovely view( room 21) the locqtion was perfect, the breakfasts were generous and a big variety;
nothing, we look forward to a future visit
Good location. Staff helpful and friendly.
Breakfast was ok
Great value for your money, clean rooms comfortable beds friendly staff and easy access to all the restaurants bars and shops in the old town. Will use this hotel on our next visit.
I took pictures of the shower fixtures and space. Simple, ample, functional and I would like an ibis bathroom in my home. Weirdo?Good breakfast choices too!
location Friendly staff
Location excellent, friendly staff very clean
Noise from street until 4/5 in morning. Slamming doors.
good location, friendly staff, breakfast
1.when taking showers, water flow out of the door so all the floor became wet.... 2. small elevator, so a little inconvenient
The view Breakfast Location Staff
Noisey both inside and outside Small breakfast area
friendly helpful staff clean rooms good choice breakfast
room too hot
We were on the 3rd floor with a wonder view over the harbour the room was very comfortable and clean only one night but very enjoyable also excellent choice of dishes for breakfast,
fantastic staff-great location amid all the atmosphere of a brilliant historic old city-loved the quirkiness of people walking by on the walls outside the bedroom !-very clean room-very good continental breakfast-would recommend hotel
paper thin bedroom walls!!!
Location was good for both the town attractions in the walls, eating options and the ferry port. However the town is VERY busy.
The first time ever in 10 years of cycle touring we were charged - an over the top 20 Euros - to lock our bikes in space in the hotel. The option, with a shrug of the shoulders, was well you can leave them on the street if you want to risk it. No bike rack, no nothing. Pillows old and lumpy and the room was noisy..
I don't usually write reviews but my husband and I stayed for one night in August. One arrival we were pleasantly surprised with how close the hotel is to the main activity and restaurants. I'd 100% recommend staying here and we'll certainly be back. Free wifi was a bonus as so many hotels charge now. The breakfast was great too and there is free tea, coffee, water and croissants for guests to help themselves to in the lobby!
There was no air conditioning in the room so was a little warm.
We loved being in the centre of St Malo old town, even with our room being situated on the ground floor right next to entrance.
Our room was stuffy with no fans or air conditioning which was made worse by the pungent smell of urine that flooded in from the drains inside our bathroom. As a result of which we spent as little time in the room as possible. The room was basic with only the bare necessities, which were fine apart from our bedside lamp which was broken. Everything was new but it all lacked inspiration. It is essentially a youth hostel with bright colours painted on a few walls, a fair price, good location but very dull rooms. Finally, what was most disappointing was that the cleaners left our windows open during the day (probably because of the smell of urine) so when we returned we saw that our ground floor, street side room had it's huge windows left open on both days, making it incredibly easy for anyone to climb in and take whatever they wanted. I don't doubt that St Malo is a safe town, but their distinct lack of care for our belongings was very disappointing. We purposely shut the windows on both days due to security reasons, the cleaners should not have risked our property in the way that they did.
Modern comfort inside characterful old walled city.
Breakfast in the breakfast area could have been a smoother operation.
We liked where it was, right by the ramparts, we also liked the view, the breakfast, the possibility of free wifi, the secure front door system
We were on the 4th floor. There was a lift big enough for 1 person only, so an elderly couple would have had to send for the lift twice. As it was, only I could fit in there, and there was almost no room for my case. My husband had to negotiate the very steep stairs (which went on forever) with his case
Coffee machine very inaccessible in a corner of the breakfast room. queuing was very difficult.
