Perfect location inside Val Thorens skiing resort, one of the highest one in Europe. Very good hospitality service from the reception staff. Good food (3 restaurants & bar + outdoor). Well-equipped gym, nice SPA incl. small swimming pool (partially outdoor). Interesting design. Good place for skiing and relax.

The service was on par with what one should expect from a 5 star establishment. The food (and especially the breakfast buffet) was exceptional.

There were lots of cigarettes outside our window sill, but I guess that would be a criticism of some the guess rather than the hotel itself.

Great location, fantastic hotel, perfect for a four day break!! Loved being able to ski out the door, and the shuttle service was also convenient. Classic rooms wre still very comfortable and had lovely views!

The staff were excellent - friendly and accomodating. The reaturant and food were superb.

Altapura is an excellent hotel. The food is excellent, the atmosphere in the bar and dining areas is perfect and the rooms were good too. We had a duplex and a double room. The duplex was superb and our 15 year old girl was blown away (she took photos of every angle for Facebook). The ski-in, ski-out and boot room facilities were absolutely ideal although the boot room didn't open until 8:30 which was a slight issue given that I had a 6 and 4 year old who were quite a challenge to boot up and get out for the 9am start of ski lessons. Even so, the Prosneige ski school were great; they allowed us to meet them just at the bottom of the slope close to the hotel so the kids weren't late for their lessons. Val Thorens is a great resort and the location of the hotel works very well. It's low down from the town but easy to get to if you want to shop because there's a shuttle bus. The rooms were well sound-proofed and, with the windows closed, we all slept very well. I had a couple of issue whilst there, which were dealt with as well as possible by the staff. All in all a great experience. Great swimming pool, nice option to leave your kids in the kids area too. Oh and in the bar area there is a ski bubble that has been set up as a photo booth. My kids spent hours in there!

The biggest problem for us was the dinner timing. We paid for half board but the meals didn't start until 7:30. Now it may seem very British to want our kids in bed by 7 but, if they're supposed to be on the slopes for a ski lesson by 9 then I really don't see how a 7:30 dining start can work; they were starving and tired by then. I complained and they offered us free room service. The only problem with that is that it's grim to sit in a room every night having to monitor two tired, hungry kids and make sure they don't get food on their bedding/carpet etc. The room service menu for kids wasn't very interesting (naturally) and soon lost its appeal. My other issue is that I found the louvre blinds to the bathroom unappealing They don't open and close. As a result I could clearly see my husband on the loo and vice-versa. I really do think that it's nice to have some mystery even in a long-term relationship. Finally, both of our rooms were too hot to sleep in. We called an complained and they turned the temperature down but I really think they should have a temperature control in the room. I like a really cool room at night and usually sleep with the window open. You really don't want the window open there because it's too noisy.

Vey helpfull staff in any respect. Good breakfast, good dinner. Exceptional location for ski in and out. Rooms are nice by design but not the most practical.

No way to hang somewhere the wet ski overalls etc. except to put it on the sofa or armchairs. No coffe or tea facillity in the room - if: It should be free of charge. When checking in to check that the booked room is i.e. club room and not standard room. Bar prices are not to underestimate.....

The food, spa, staff, pool, ski shop, location were all top drawer.

The room was too hot and we couldn't cool it down so none of us slept well. At £800 per room per night it was expensive.

Staff were fabulous, helpful & friendly with concierge service, stunning new hotel in a great location, ski in/ski out onto piste.. lovely food, definitely be going back next year.

The design is avant-garde, well kept, and staffs are very attentive. Hotel is well positioned, and literately ski-in-ski-out experience. Ski- shop is also very nice.

The rooms are smaller than expected. Room service menu is very limited. No a-la-carte in the main restaurant at night. Ski-lockers are small, and no individual shelves for putting smaller items.

Staff was great, very friendly. The ski shop personnel was just the best. Francois fom the ski shop was the best. The restaurants were very good, they had diversity of foods.

My children's room was extremely cold (201) and it was impossible to control the temperature because the temperature of the rooms are not individually controlled. In the lobby there is a strong chloride odor that comes from the pool and jaccussi.
