Hotel Altos is in the center of Avranches, on the bay of Mont Saint-Michel. It is one mile from the town’s train station and offers rooms with free Wi-Fi. Rooms at the Altos are equipped with satellite TV and a private bathroom. They are all serviced by an elevator. A continental breakfast buffet is served daily at the Altos. The hotel is just 330 ft from the Avranches Aquatic Center which has a swimming pool, sauna and hammam. Guests can also explore the Normandy coast and enjoy local water sports activities. For a beautifully designed, and it appears to be recently done, not having a decent shower was a bit off putting. Otherwise, everything was great.

Check in is from 15.00h, but we arrived at 11am and the man in the reception behaved totalleý spastic, wanted us out of the door and told us not to come before 15.00. I made it clear for him that we did not neccesarily want our rooms, but we wanted to deposit our luggage as we were going to vistit touristplaces and i did not want all the luggage in our car. He told us again to leave, but I insisted and told him that it was perfectly normal that a hotel provided storage facilities for guest arriving early. Finally he allowed oús to put our bags in the lobby. Strange man. When we came back later our luggage was already in our room and the rest of the stay was pleasant... very little breakfastroom so we had to wait 15 minutes to get seated.

My wife and I were deeply unhappy. It may be in the Avranches postal area but it is nowhere near the town centre. It is noisy, for example we clearly heard when others in the hotel flushed their toilets! There are many minor niggles which all added up to a deeply upsetting situation - not helped by a refusal to do anything to put matters right, (though I accept the hotel couldn't be moved into the town!). When my wife and I have settled from our holiday, we will be seeking compensation. I add that we had a three location holiday and the other two hotels we stayed in were superb. We did not like the location, style, noise, refusal to respond positively to complaints, indeed it would be hard to find anything we did like. Probably the worst part was refusal to do anything to put matters right.

The breakfast was ok We had a room above the noisy road (half of the rooms are on this side of the hotel). Luckily we were very tired, otherwise we would not have got a lot of sleep because of the passing trucks and cars. You are forced to sleep with an open window because there is no airco. The room itself is large but amateurishly painted and decorated (as if the owner did it himself). The private parking is some distance from the hotel so not very safe. The hotel bar is ok but expensive and closes at 22:30. Stay away from this hotel unless you are certain you have a room on the backside, which is quieter.

It was a short drive to the Mont St Michel and there is a resturant next door which has excellent food. This hotel was excellent value for money.

Pretty reception. Friendly Staff. Decent breakfast Far away from Mt. Saint Michel, small room, bad furniture, no shower but just the head so you need to hold it while showering which makes it uncomfortable, the two stars of the room are an average between a pretty reception and an awful room, bad quality of toilet paper, bad pillows, curtains with holes.

Staff were very helpful with all speaking English (owner speaks very good English).Breakfast good and plentiful.Disabled facilities within hotel fine but step from pavement makes it very difficult for wheelchair users.I would certainly make a return visit. Step from pavement (wheelchair user).

Le personnel a été très souriant _ Lits confortables Très grande déception de la chambre. Nous nous attendions a une chambre design, nous avons eu une chambre "rétro" vieillotte. Wc mal fixés, salle de bain peu accueillante (sombre et petite baignoire, joints moisis, pas de chauffage, pas de seche cheveux, pas de mouchoirs...), Tapisseries murales vieillissantes, mobilier en état médiocre, lumière grillée...

hôtel confortable, propre acceuil de l"hotesse très chaleureux le manque de chauffage pour un 29 mars, surtout pour la salle de bain - le petit déjeuner un peu juste, ceci dit pour un 2 étoiles qualité prix je dirai pas mal, ce qui était important c'est la proprete de la chambre et le confort de la literie

La personne de l'accueil était très chaleureuse, et la literie très confortable. Pas de problème de bruit malgré la route en contrebas. Temps d'attente à l'accueil un peu long pour l'enregistrement (1 seule personne pour tout gérer), chambre avec le plafond de la SdB qui témoignait d'un ancien dégât des eaux, hôtel bruyant le matin (pas très bien insonorisé en interne).

J'ai failli résilier ma réservation en parcourant des critiques vives mais j'ai adoré cet endroit remarquablement situé avec un excellent rapport qualité / prix. C'est vrai que l'on entends un peu de bruit mais alors, il faut réserver un 4 étoiles (... et encore) ou une maison isolée. J'y retournerai en vacances, c'est sûr!!!!

Il y a un gros problème d'isolation phonique au niveau des canalisations d'eaux qui nous réveillent le matin avec un bruit strident. Le chauffage n'est pas réglable à partir de la chambre (séjour en Novembre) Le petit déjeuner est de moindre qualité par rapport à un service de chambre d'hôtes (Mauvais pain, pas de fruits variés...) le téléphone de la chambre ne marchait pas. La direction ne tient pas compte des réclamations des clients et ne s'excuse même pas des désagréments causés. Aucun geste commercial. Il semblerait que l'établissement ne soit pas tenu par un véritable hôtelier.

“This is a smallish hotel with generous sized rooms, bigger than any we have stayed in while driving through France. It is situated in a small, very attractive village only 20 minutes drive from mount St Michel and 6 minutes from Avranches. It has a lovely garden and is very peaceful, even during the day. The restaurant is without a doubt one of the best I have ever experienced. The owner chef is very talented. And the prices are very reasonable.
