A smell of smoking The sound of the trains in the morning
Close to train station and centre commerciale.
The carpet in corridor is dirty. Toilet and bathroom need to be renewed.
Near the station
It will be better with wifi free
if you need a cheap place to stay, close to the train station- it is ok exactly for that only.
the common areas, in front of the lobby with trash cans full of garbage even on the floor
Location to the main train station and the city centre very good.
Nice residence, well-situated in 10 minutes of walking from railway station, easy walking access to city centre. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable.
problems with Wi-Fi cable Internet wifi only downstairs near reception if you do not have connector for cable there will be difficulty with the Internet
Hotel maintenance. No hot water in the room. Very green staff no knowing the hotel. Got stuck in the car park. The staff did not know what to do to open the doors. I had to do it myself. Wifi never worked and no one to call for help.
fast access, good facilities
The corridors on the higher floors could use refurbishment. They are working on parts of it, so I guess it's a matter of time.
The WiFi IS free!
No central heating device, only electronic heater per room.
After reading the reviews online, I had low expectations. And perhaps that is why I was pleasantly surprised with City Residence. The room was simple but clean, had a kitchenette, and though it was located near the train station, I did not hear one train - very quiet neighborhood (I had a room facing away from the tracks and station.) It sounded like there were renovations happening in the building I was in so perhaps these are newer or nicer rooms. But I have no complaints with the amenities and room. I came the weekend after Christmas so almost all of Strasbourg was booked. I am happy that I found a budget room walking distance from the downtown area.
Just a warning, the reception is closed from 1-3pm. When I arrived at 2:40pm there were at least 20 people waiting in the lobby for the reception to open. The wifi is free (yay!) but only available in the lobby. As my room was in another building at the other end of the block and it was snowing, this made my internet searches quite inconvenient. It would be great if wifi could be in the rooms or at least in the lobby of each building. The staff I interacted with was very hit or miss. I had to communicate in English and one girl was very sweet, nice, and helpful. Another seemed to be annoyed that we were there at all. So maybe you'll be lucky... :-)
the heater!!! the water gets colder when we are taking a shower
Clean and nice place, very good location and nice equipped kitchen.
There was no soap in the shower, no hairdrier and slowly WiFi in the room.
Nice staff, near city center, clean, well equipped, good value, nice area, quiet, kitchen in the studio.
Bad ventilation -> nasty smell in the bathroom sometime
Good location indeed.
Wifi not included, but avalibale only at reception. That bothered me the most, what are we, in 2014 or what? The room was pretty ok, but the carpet in the coridor stinked. It is not a bad hotel, but I definetly think it is too expensive for the comfort you get.
Room available during European Parliament Session.
Room, bathroom, beds, appliances - everything completely worn out. Not refurbished since 1980?? It is not possible to clean these premises properly. You do not want to walk the floor without shoes. Located between highly frequented road and main railroad. Well ...
Very convenient location, walking distance to centre. Friendly staff, clean and spacious room. Kitchenette is very handy. We enjoyed our stay.
Bathroom would need refurbishment, but it is clean, so not really a problem.
Location, space of appartment, tv, possible to get free wifi in the reception and in the room.
The room was not cleaned (no towel change, the trash was not taken out, the beds were not made) during the stay (for 6 nights), there was a limited amount of hot water (heating in a boiler), the electronic heating system was broken for one night.
The hostel-feeling of the hotel with people playing cards in the common room. Also the position of the hotel was not bad.
I have seen and stayed in many hotels and this is the only so absolutely negative critic i write. From where to start...on the desk of the room when we got in there was a dead flie, the room was freezing and although the heating was ok, the window was not closing completely so there was the whole night a cold air current! The boiler was broken so no warm water either. When we complained the staff told us there is nothing to be done and after threatening to leave they gave us the keys of another room so we could use the shower. Oh and there is not internet despite mentioning it in the site. And to close almost 80 euros for a night in a place which could easily be considered as a hostel is an outrageous price. No worth of the money. Never again.
Reasonable price during the Christmas market.
The atmosphere and cleanliness of common areas left a lot to be desired.
There was no internet in rooms, just at the reception, which was in different building. Stuff was not very helpful and friendly. Advertised parking spaces were full, so no parking possible. Any questions asked stuff could not help.
Good location and stuff
No WI FI in the room
nothing at all
No central heating, just one small electric convection heater in the room ,a halogen heater in the bathroom, and that didnt work in one of two of our groups rooms. The door wouldnt close without excesive force, empty TV-box and sheets layed down in the hallway for a good 24h, elevator broke down and fellow traveler was traped in it. Need I say more really???
bad windows: cold and very noisy (trains, trafic, ventilation) no wifi no breakfast
The hotel is situated very well. Only a few minutes walk to the city centre, the beautiful "La Petite France" and the train station. The size of the room was ok and seemed clean.
When we arrived it was freezing cold in the room. We had to turn on the heating, after quite a while it got warmer. The smell in the hallway on our floor was awful. There were disgusting spots all over the floor in the hallway. It was ok for a short stay, but nothing for a nice and cosy getaway.
