The hotel staff were very friendly and the free bike hire was great. Its a 15min walk (up hill on the way back!) into Solidor which has some great restaurants. Very small rooms, no tea and coffee making facilities in the room, breakfast was poor for E12 (bread and jam!) . Hotel location is a long way from St Malo old town. (to far to walk to go out for dinner) I thought it was expensive considering the location, size of rooms and facilities available.

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Gave us great recommendations to restaurants in the area. The hotel is in a quiet residential neighborhood that is a short drive to the old city and port area. Lovely townhouse. The rooms are very stylish and attractively decorated, with updated, modern bathrooms. Our room was a bit small for a superior double. There are no restaurants or cafes within walking distance.

Well located. Very beautiful old building. Very nice entrance, breakfast and community room. Friendly staff (owner?). We thought a continental breakfast would be a complete breakfast with cheese, eggs, cold cuts etc., especially related to the price of 12 Euros p. P.. But it was more a french breakfast (jam, yogurt, croissants, baguettes), so we found the price too high. Rooms were a little small but clean. It was hardly possible to get along with English, which we found a little poor considering that touristic region where a lot of English people spend their holidays.

The hotel proved an excellent stop over for our departure at St Malo the next day. The hotel was small but very comfortable and the nearby bistro served us an excellent evening meal. Our breakfast at L'Ascott was excellent and our two year old was accomodated well.

We were very fortunate to be upgraded to the Windsor room. It was wonderful and we felt very spoilt. The paintings and furnishings of the hotel were beautiful and the garden was a lovely place to unwind after a long drive. Only slight disadvantage is the lack of a lift - quite understandable having regard to the age of the building - but the second floor is quite a haul for us 70+ types - still the room made it worth it.

We used the hotel for a one night stay on our way from South West France to catch the morning ferry to Portsmouth. We travelled as a family of two adults and two children and originally booked a family room, unfortunatley someone else had also booked this room on another booking site so we were offered 2 inter-connecting rooms at the same rate as the family room. The two rooms were not large but were both very clean with very attractive decor and both had balconies. This is a lovely, unique little hotel with lots of French character and style. The owner and staff are very friendly and attentive. There is secure off street parking and the area feels very safe. Breakfast was extra at 12 euros per adult, a little bit steep for a continental breakfast but it was well presented and of good quality, however we would have liked to be offered breakfast cereals in addition to the croissants and bread. It would have also been nice to have tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms but this is not common in French hotels.

Not a lot! Rated as a three star hotel - don't know why as no facilities - unable to even get a cup of coffee at 10:30 pm. Given a "family room" and told not to touch a certain light switch as there was a problem with the electrics! - that was good for the Children!!!! Car park was damaging to the exhaust due to the big dip at the gate Full rate still charged We won't be going back

The hotel offered secure parking which was essential for us. We thought the hotel would be nearer to the old walled city & within walking distance. It wasn't. After driving for 5 hours we didn't feel like driving any more. It was also quite a distance from restaurants, The few restaurants in a small harbour nearby, although very niceley situated, were extremely expensive.

An old 19th/20th century converted villa with lots of atmosphere. Ver French. Has its own art gallery! Room was very nicely done out in modern fashion but still managed to retain an old fashioned ambience. Lovely. Owner? Was very helpful. Access to & from car park is a little difficult for a larger car but ther is not much that can be done about that.

“It has a very central location, with secure parking a short walk from the hotel - ideal for those who are en route into/out of France with a car full of belongings. The location is also ideal for shopping, visiting the old town, walking around the town walls, and for the beach. The rooms are neat and well designed, the welcome was warm, and breakfast (included in our stay) was a very good, continental selection of food. The rooms are over several floors, but there is a (very small) lift.” Janet, Nottingham |
