We liked everything: the guest-house itself (very clean and comfortable, with an orchard, a garden and a front terrace), our room (comfortable double bed, quiet and bright), the location (a small village by a lake, conveniently situated near wooded areas ideal for trekking and cycling and less than an hour's drive from Carcassonne), and the owners (an pleasant welcoming English couple who have been living in Puivert for some years now). Martin is open and talkative, with a sense of humour I liked.
We could have stayed with Martin and Ann for a home-made dinner: the "menu" sounded excellent and we were tempted. However, they also informed us about alternatives in Puivert. After a whole day driving, we wanted to walk and breathe clean air, so we eventually settled for the bar-restaurant by the lake, which, as they Martin and Ann said, was affordable and good. I appreciated their sincerity.
In the evening, I sat in the comfortable dining/living room with my laptop. The wifi connection worked perfectly.
The French breakfast prepared by Martin was excellent: coffee and tea, orange juice, croissants, toast, butter, all sorts of "confitures", cereals. We shared the large bountiful table with the other guests, in a convivial friendly atmosphere.
Thank you for making our short stay at your 'petit verger' so pleasant.
