everything about this romantic and charming auberge is positive. the reception, the atmosphere, the room and most of all the superb cuisine. all in all it was a sublime experience.

The friendly and relaxed atmosphere, the food was excellent, dinner quite expensive but great, breakfast very reasonable and good quality. Must be very nice in summer when you can use the pool.

The baths were a bit awkward; not big enough to lie down in but no shower attachment either.

Lovely location, in the countryside with little stream running through the garden, lots of trees, comfortable dining room with log fire.

A distinct lack of warmth and friendliness from the staff. We were not made to feel welcome and we had the impression that they would prefer we were not there. Even though the hotel advert gives the impression that they welcome children, they did not welcome our little daughter (1 and half years old). Moreover, the photos in the advert show rooms which are far more comfortable that the one we were given. Our room was small and had a leaking radiator.

The food was excellent and both the hotel and restaurant represented really good value for money. The room was warm and comfortable if dated.

It really could do with a makeover. The decor is dowdy and rather tired. I stayed here with my late wife 20 years ago and it was a bit dated then and I don't think it's changed! That won't stop me going back as it's well-positionned for my family visits to England, it's comfortable and the food is great and good value.

Historic accomodation and gourmet food

The owner is very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The setting of the hotel is very nice the rooms are set around a garden with a stream running through there are table and chairs outside each room so when the weather permits you can relax outside. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have slept in in a long time. In the summer there is also a swimming pool in the gardens. The restaurant is superb.

The welcome is friendly, the beds are large and comfortable, the bathroom is a good size and spotlessly clean. There was a full size bath in which to relax and a swimming pool, which was refreshingly cold in a mid August heat wave. It has to said, (but don't tell the owners) that the price was also very reasonable. Madame looks after bookings and is English so those who dread booking in French need have no fear. Dogs are welcome. Now for the very best bit.....the food. We have eaten here on four separate occasions and we dread coming back in case the food is not as good as we remember, but each time it has been superb. Monsieur the chef is French and loves his cooking. His flavours are subtle and the presentation always shows lots of flair. The menu changes with the seasons, which means you can't guarantee an old favourite but we have made new discoveries each time. The service is attentive without being annoying or over formal. If the weather is kind you can eat outside. On Saturday night you have to have half board, but if you stay here without eating you are missing the best restaurant in France. PS The dog is lovely too!

The first floor rooms have a sloping ceiling, the window is in that slope and there is no air conditioning. However, you can easily reach the Velux window and turn it over so that hot air escapes easily and in mid August, with very hot weather, we were comfortable at night. The outside stairs to the first floor are "rustic", and can be a little slippery in wet weather.

It is a very pretty hotel in a rural setting. There is a pool which is good and the gardens are nice. The beds were excellent and very good value for money.

The food was a little pretentious but with care can have a good dinner

Very welcoming hosts; fantastic food and lovely peaceful setting all at a great price.

We stayed here as a one night 'stop-off' on our way to the beajolais region much further south. This place was a wonderful experience so much so we wish we could have stayed longer.The hotel is a very quaint cottage style building part of which was an old sawmill with its own waterwheel and this theme is still evident in various artifacts around the hotel and grounds. The food here was excellent as the owner is also the Chef. I would definately return here and stay longer and would have no hesitation in recommending it to family or friends. Excellent!

Couldn't fault the Hotel.

Its inherent French charm and excellent food. The bucolic setting and woodlands makes it a perfect place to unwind.

The Auberge is beginning to show signs that it is in need of some maintenance. Although it is clean it is best described as shabby chic. The bathrooms in particular require re-furbishing.

Food and service very good

Lovely quiet location - beautiful setting. We were driving to Charles de Gaulle airport the next day and was perfect distance. Didn't realise until we got there that a three course meal was included in the price as well as breakfast. And a beautiful meal at that. Husband and wife owners were fantastic and he is the chef as well. Superb food. Room was comfortable - not huge but had everything.

Beautiful setting and extremely dog friendly with country walks close by. Room very clean and comfortable with terrace.

This is a small business run hotel therefore the owner speaks good English and is also the chef and the receptionist when business is quiet. As a vegetarian the chef was very happy to discuss my meal options ( a first ever experience in France). Very comfortable hotel, nice pool, quiet location but yet only 30 mins from Troyes. Would definatley return.

Hotel was a real find. The owners were lovely and friendly and the food was superb.

The owners and staff are welcoming and professional. The grounds are charming. The bar is comfortable. The restaurant is outstanding. The whole experience is excellent value for money.

This was our second visit to the Auberge de la Scierie. This time, we stayed here for one night on our return from a touring holiday in Southern Burgundy. The welcome from the owners was very warm and friendly. Our room was delightful with a comfortable bed and suitable furniture. The ensuite bathroom contained a large bath that was perfect after a day's driving. Special mention must be made of the food. The dinner menu offered a varied selection and the courses were presented with flair and flavour, truly excellent french cooking. The breakfast of croissants, breads, jams, salami and coffee was a good start to the morning. We will return!

Mooie locatie, vrij comfortabel, correcte kamer, prima voor een erg kort verblijf of overnachting op doorreis.

Koele ontvangst, het avondeten was beneden alle peil, het ontbijt zeer sober en karig. Op dit gebied niet echt een juiste prijs-kwaliteit verhouding.

Je dirait que pour apprécier pleinement cette hotel il faut séjourner vers la periode de l'été, (chaleur) avec sa piscine et sa verdure alentour.

Niet fris, onaangename geur

De omgeving en tuin van het hotel zijn niet verzorgd. Ook de gebouwen zijn verouderd en niet meer onderhouden. Is in feite nog goed als een doorgangshotel voor 1 nacht

Chambre propre et totalement rénovée

Le service au restaurant manquait un peu de finesse...
