The staff were friendly. The food was of a good quality. We stayed at Le Moulin approx. 12 years ago and the accommodation was in the mill itself. The information I read on the website still says/implies that the accommodation is in the mill. Unfortunately a totally new building with no character has been built. The room was not cleaned to the level we would expect and smelt of smoke. The mattress was dipped in several places and the paintwork chipped as well as a hole in the wardrobe. We could not alter the heating temperature so had the window open all the time with the heat escaping from the room. We were very disappointed by our stay as we had expected so much more character and comfort. The food was good, but it used to be exceptional We were very upset to see that all the hard work and committment made by the previous family who owned the mill had vanished. Sorry, but this is our honest opinion.

Comfortable hotel with great food. The immediate surroundings are lovely despite the nearby cement works, which can't be seen from most of the hotel. A minor grumble: it would have been good to be able to stand under the shower rather than have to hold it by hand, the pressure and temperature were excellent so it was frustrating that the hook was too low down to stand under! A mirror in the bedroom would also be useful when one's other half is occupying the bathroom.

The hotel far exceeded our expectations. It is set in a lovely location at the end of a lane in peaceful countryside, yet not far from major trunk roads. The old mill is the restaurant and the hotel has been built sympathetically to blend in with it. We were welcomed by friendly and efficient staff, who showed us to our room. What a fabulous room and large - we even had a walk in wardrobe/dressing room! The room was beautifully decorated - very boutique hotel style, with additional cushions and throws on the bed. Our french windows opened onto the mill stream, ducks and geese were in abundance, it was idyllic. We ate in the mill in the evening and the meal was absolutely fantastic, the service was excellent and very reasonably priced. We had previously stayed in Paris at a 5 star hotel, and Le Domaine de Mombreux certainly equalled if not surpassed this with both the accommodation and meals. We will definately be returning. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and indeed have been doing so already!

Location and aspect are great, hotel was clean and comfortable. The food in the restaurant was very good with a roaring open fire but only let down by a broken heating system which added to the quirky charm of the place. The cellar could do with a restock but it is probably end of season.

Very pleasant hotel with a very warm welcome and delightful staff. The room was comfortable and well situated. The restaurant was excellent with super service. Great breakfast. The only issue we had was finding the hotel. The weather was poor when we arrived in Lumbres and we had difficulty locating the Hotel. Unlike in many French towns and villages where the local hotels are listed on signs when entering the location, we didn't see any although due to the waether we may have missed them.

Location very peaceful, staff very friendly and helpful and the duvets excellent! Wonderful views from room. Room was very dull with only 3 lamps for light not good for oldies. A couple of nice pictures would have helped and bathroom also very dull. Access to bath taps was extremely difficult due to fixed shower screen.

Our room on the ground floor was spacious, especially for a French hotel, clean and comfortable. Regretfully the only windows were french windows that opened the full height and as we were at ground level we felt we had to keep them closed as we slept. As there was no a/c and no other means of ventilation our room became very warm and stuffy and uncomfortable during the night. (We were there in September) Delightfully when we did open them at dawn we were greeted by a serenade from the many ducks and a lone goose that had spent the night on the river bank beneath our window. We enjoyed dinner upstairs in the old mill restaurant which we found very pleasant and the food quite good. The service was exemplary too. The whole hotel complex is very pictureque with spacious car parking. We had noted from previous posts that the hotel was a bit difficult to find so we had printed off various maps and guides, plust having two sat navs, but sure enough we still got lost and it took us half an hour to find it once we'd arrived in the area. Once found it was ludicrously easy and left us wondering where we had gone wrong the first time. Our advice would be - don't cross the river! The crucial question - would we stay again? The answer is, yes, and we'd look forward to it, which says all. Apart from a stuffy room (which wouldn't have been had we felt able to leave the ground floor french windows open all night) we were also disappointed with the shower. It was a standard shower head at the end of a flexible hose designed to hang on a wall bracket, but there was no sign that one had ever been fitted. We found the shower coiled up in the bottom of the bath and to use it, it had to be held aloft with one hand - most inconvenient - which was a great pity because it was a powerful shower with plenty of hot water. Perhaps the lack of shower curtain was the clue that it wasn't meant to be actually used as a shower !

Peace and quiet. Setting extremely pretty. Poor pillows and poor lighting in bed room. Comfortable reception area but poor amenities therein. Extras pricey and breakfast not taken as it seemed expensive for what it was €15 each.

Quiet, relaxation, very pleasant staff and good foof in the restaurant. The room was clean and comfortable, with a lovely view, but one or two more facilities would have been welcome; e.g. an iron, bottled water.

Spaciousness of the room, albeit it was quite gloomy. Directions to hotel could be clearer. Lighting in room appalling. With regard to the restaurant - limited staff, ergo service slow. Limited menu - starter was obviously prepared earlier, yet there was still a long wait. Main course acceptable. Dessert, again prepared earlier. The hotel has a reputation for cuisine, but it will quickly be tarnished if they do not become more adventurous, and I would be prepared to pay extra for good quality.

Very convenient when coming from or to the U.K. and an extremely pleasant and quiet location. We had great difficulty locating the Moulin after we had come off the motorway - we ended up in Lumbres and had to ask the way as there are now new rondpoints and the signpost to the Moulin is small and insignificant.

Fantastic Watermill location. A little remote and the local village of Lumbres was closed by the time I got there. To be fair it was 10.00 at night. Room 10 has a great view over the river and it is the perfect place to stay if you want some peace and quiet. The Restuarant offers good food at prices you expect for a location such as this. If you are looking for quick snack you have to drive out.
