A reassuringly big, calm, efficient hotel to arrive at after a long trip, with a large, well-equipped, air-conditioned room and doors leading out onto an enclosed courtyard. The Grand is well placed near to Avignon Gare Centre and the bus to the TGV station. There's also an underground car park (it's public - and it's not free - but there is a lift up to the hotel that you can only use with a room key). We didn't use the restaurant as we just walked into the old town and picked a cafe. To be honest I'd been looking at smaller hotels but as our visit coincided with the Avignon Festival in July everywhere was booked, so the Grand it was. I don't regret it though! |

The location was good, but not inside the walls, but very close and walkable to most attractions. Room was OK, certainly not impressive, but the room for 4 did sleep 4 comfortably. The desk staff was very, very slow and inattentive. I wondered how they could deal with more than 10 or 15 guests a day at their pace. They were not rude, but I certainly wouldn't call them cheerful. |

The Avignon Grand was very spacious and bright with very comfortable, large rooms. Reception area was impressive and staff were very helpful. Very clean. Lot of noise from street when you opened the window. |

The hotel has a fantastic location just outside the old city walls of Avignon centre and the train station was 100m to walk to. The junior suite was like a medium flat (two bedrooms, two bathrooms). Sunroof and pool was a plus. |

Excellent service. Lovely large room/suite. Location brilliant - just a few minutes from restaurants. Disappointing there was no restaurant for evening dinner. |

Proximity to the main street for accessing most of the attractions of Avignon, the quietness of the hotel, the wonderful suite with two bedrooms and two bathrooms not usually found in European hotels, large sitting room, fridge in room. No kettle available to make coffee or tea in room |

Convenient location, close to railway station but also close to the centre of town. Suite was comfortable, with separate small lounge area. Large bed and good sized bathroom. WiFi access was good in our room. |

The location. 1. No proper in-room internet connection. Nowadays, not having this is ridiculous. Especially for a hotel with 4 stars. 2. No comfortable chair/soffa/bed in the room. The bed was to hard. This might be ok if all your guest weigh 40-50kg, but this is not the case. No comfortable chair at the "desk". 3. Why having two tv sets in such a small room? One tv is enough. Instead have a proper alarm clock. 4. Non-existing information about the hotel in the room. There should be a small folder with all necessary information. In summary, very bad value for the money! |

The only reason for using the hotel is it's proximity to the town. Parking is also a bonus but it's extremely expensive for hotel parking. Quality of room was poor - bed was metal framed camp bed style. Staff were worst come accross in 100's of hotels, ignoring do not disturb, forgetting to replace items such as soap when cleaning room. Parking was very expensive and not the safest. Hotel was next to drop in centre which didn't help. The Mercure in town is much cheaper, cleaner and in a better position.. even an ibis would would have been a step up from this! |

Good location near the city gates. The breakfast was very expensive and not very good. The staff were not helpful, looking pained when asked a question. 4 stars? Not a chance. |

Rooms were spacious and clean. It is quiet, you can get the rooms dark and beds are very comfortable so a good night's sleep is guaranteed. Value is good in the off season. Breakfast is expensive (16 EUR). |

We were touring Southern France and stayed in Avignon Grand Hotel for only one night. It was close to the town center for resturants and shopping. Even though we didn't use the trains, the hotel was very close to train station. The hotel does provide internet, however only in the lobby area. |

The bedroom was great with a proper sitting area. French windows opened onto garden and it was beautifully quiet. Bathroom had both bath and seperate shower.Breakfast was good and the dining room attractive with good service. The dining room only served breakfast although their website said they served dinner with dishes from Provence and a choice of local wines. Infact I think it said it was open from 12 midday. This was a bore as the advertised room service did not seem to exist either. The airconditioning in the bedroom was still on central heating inspite of the day time temperature being 26/27 for half of our stay so unless we had the French windows open it was very hot. We did not like to do this at night as we were on the gound floor. AND for 2 days we had no hot water! We gave up asking for coat hangers for the ample wardrobe space. Yet somehow the atmosphere of the room was a delight! |

Not much. Big room. No bar, no restaurant. 20 mins for hot water to come in bathroom in the morning. Unacceptable for a four star hotel. |

The family room was fantastic. Two stages, two bedrooms, two bathrooms. Very comfortable and clean. The insulation of the windows is poor. It did not matter to us because it was not cold, but it is noisy, specially if windy. Breakfast is not included. |
