La situación del hotel, la limpieza de la habitación.

El baño era muy pequeño y la habitación también.

I was pleasently surprised. Room was clean & adequate. Hotel is situated in great location close to harbour, shopping centre, restraurants castles & train station. Staff were pleasant & helpfull even though my French was limited. I would definately stay there again.

It didn't have a lift

Very close to train station and harbour. Easy access to get around by bus to different locations. The room was tiny but very clean and comfortable. Staff welcoming and friendly and the owner took my case up for me as no lift. Was great service.

Not really a complaint but tea and coffee facilites in the room would have been lovely.

Very happy with the room and the quality of the breakfast. The host was very helpful. It has a good situation in the town although it has no parking there was plenty of parking close by

Brilliant location by the Old Harbour, and easy to find, as it is near the railway station, so you can follow signs to the station on entering La Rochelle. Tiny bedroom and bathroom, but well appointed. The owners were charming and helpful, and the lady spoke good English. The breakfast was good, and good value with good quality produce, served in a pleasantly decorated room. They didn't even mind that their loo lid broke when my husband sat on it to dry his feet! Wouldn't let us pay for its repacement. This was the only hotel we stayed in in France which offered a bottle of mineral water, a small point, but indicative of the thoughtfulness of the proprietors.

There was no air conditioning or ceiling fan, not such a problem in September, but in hot weather it would be an issue. There was a duvet on the bed, with no top sheet, and we found it too hot to have the duvet over us, but too chilly without it.

The man was very helpful and helped my mother with her suitcase. Also the hotel was very central and close to absolutely everything. A big plus was also the breakfast the next morning which was lovely.

There was a little noise but with the shutters and windows this was silenced and parking was a little problem but managed.

Excellent location and a very comfortable hotel

Hotel is located close to the marina, major attractions, restaurants and shops. Nice breakfast in cute breakfast room. Hotel offered a quadruple room, however, room was small for 4 people. Room was on the 3rd floor with no elevator or air-conditioning. It was hot and noisy due to street traffic and the very popular bar next door.

Very pleasant stay at the Axe hotel.The manager was friendly and helpful(where to park and other informations).The room is very small but very clean and decorated (very newly redone). The hotel is just a few blocks from the port and down town. We enjoyed our stay.

Centrally located, modern, clean and comfortable. Reasonably priced breakfast available. Had a quadruple room available which suited our party of 3.

We had previously advised the hotel of our late arrival due to having to catch a late flight. Unfortunately the man at reception appeared cross with us on arrival, as we had not received a passcode to let ourselves in, and he had to wait up for us. He did however help us carry our bags up 2 floors of narrow stairs, and was quite pleasant after that. Little English spoken at this hotel, but we spoke French so managed quite OK. No lift.Bathroom was very small but adequate.

This is a small but very comfortable hotel. Our room, whilst small was extremely clean. Staff were welcoming and friendly throughout our brief stay. Its location is superb if wishing to visit the old harbour and its many attractions and there are an abundance of restaurants and bars in very close proximity - the bar next to the hotel in paticular was great with very reasonable prices for drinks. One minor problem was the lack of AC in the room - the weather during our stay was very warm and due to the size od the room, the provision of AC or at least a fan would have been most welcomed. The breakast buffet at 7 euros was acceptable and free parking was a short walk away.
