Located in the heart of Cancale Port, La Mère Champlain offers a magnificent view out over Cancale Bay. Wake up every morning to a view of the spectacular Mont Saint-Michel.
Score from 338 reviews Very good
The sea view was great especially with the stormy sea in the morning at high tide.
View from room Coastal décor Quality bedding Late checkout Quiet hotel
Difficult parking. Poor shower with curtain
location was wonderful and day manager was helpful.
Was mixup with reservation and town was busy with holiday traffic. Night desk clerk was not only not helpful, but insulting. Left there, walked across street to Oceanic which was also full but staff did everything they could to find us a bed for the night.
sea view, quiet, breakfast & restaurant
A nice, albeit small, clean room in a well-situated ocean-front hotel. Simple and clean, courteous staff and a short walk to the intra muros. A bar to from which to watch the sun set was nice.
Can't think of anything.
Fantastically well located with a great sea view and the waves only a few meters away from our balcony at high tide. The balcony itself was much appreciated. Very handy storage rack in the bathroom, plenty of decent clothes hangers in the wardrobe. 15 minutes' walk into town. Breakfast was nice. Bed very comfortable, good size. Quiet at night.
Room was a little overheated at night. We ended up having to open the window.
The location was excellent and it was easy to find. I managed to park right outside the hotel.
The coffee was stewed. Facilities for tea/coffee making in the room would be better.
The hotel is right on the waterfront and has excellent views. It is close to restaurants.
Right on a major roadway and very noisy in the evenings until early morning hours.
The position is marvellous and the design and decor very attractive. Very helpful staff and well equipped bathroom.
Car parking coud be a problem but fortunately we found space on the main road just outside the hotel.
Location was good very close to the beach and a 15 min walk into the city. The views from the dining room are lovely
We had booked a city view room, which backed onto a busy road which was quite noisy, the room was average standard when paying £100 per night I would expect better. A room at the front of the hotel would be the option to go for. The owners are not there at the weekend and the weekend staff are very unhelpful, rude, plus the 26 euro for 2 breakfast is poor value !
Could improve the breakfast presentation compared with other similar hotels
The location was great, on the seafront and just a short interesting walk along the coast to the town centre. Unfortunately we didn't have a sea view, but our room on the town side was comfortable and spacious. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Breakfast was good, but rather expensive. Worth it for the view.
Location, friendly staff
The bed is not so good
Beautiful setting from dining room on the boardwalk. Nice staff. Good continental breakfast.
Room is quite small-expensive. Bathroom is dark and needs work.
Double doors opening to beach and view of water.
Room was miniscule. Not good for couple especially if husband is large. Bed very small.
Family room we had our own access, and two rooms adjoining which worked well with a 10 and 9 year old. Location on the promenade above the beach - direct access. The hotel provided towels for the beach which was great.
It was lovely and warm when we were there and so we opened the windows - we were on ground floor at street level and the traffic noise kept us awake. We may have been unlucky - dustbin men one day very early. Deliveries another and rain one night which made the cars sound louder!
We loved the balcony we had it was so quiet we also had a really good nights sleep you could only hear the waves across the beach. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
You could do with coffee and tea making facilities
Beautiful view of water from bedroom and helpful staff
Small room even by Paris standards. Expensive breakfast. No parking. No terrace for sitting outside for a drink to enjoy the beautiful scenery.
old bathroom, very small room
great location easy walk to the old town staff very helpful would stay again
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great sea view. Excellent location near the 'old town' Quite, no noise from the lift or other rooms.
Very difficult for wheelchair access. No tea/coffee making facilities in room. Street parking only (but we found a space easily).
Excellent service, nice breakfast, what more can you ask for.
Small hotel more like bed and breakfast. Good location straight onto sea front. Staff very friendly and helpful
Check in was not till 3pm which wasnt ideal for us with a 2 year old and 5 year old. Asked for early check in when we turned up at 12noon but was told no. However another family managed it no problem the next day. Depends who is on reception when you arrive. more like bed and breakfast as did not offer evening meals
