Hôtel Belle-Vue34, Quai du Port, Vieux Port - La Canebière, 13002 Marseilles (Show map) Good, Score from 323 reviews“The Belle Vue Hotel basically had everything we were looking for, just during our two day stay. The room overlooked the ocean/harbour/mariner. The room was adeequate and clean. The bathroom VERY clean. The hotel even supplied an iron and ironing board which we used. There was also airconditioning although we never were able to make it work. Neither did we ask for assistance with it. All in all, worth staying in for location and views.”

The location was perfect, right on the side of the old port and good views across the port and surrounding area. The reception was not very friendly, when we arrived we were just given a key and told the room was on the 3rd floor, there was no lift and no help offered for our bags. In the room there was a sign saying that to save the environment there were no separate soaps but a large metal container with liquid soap in it and two sachets of shampoo. When the shampoo was used it was not replaced! Also a sign about towels being left on the floor would be replaced, when we did this (on the second night of our visit) the towels were picked up and hung back on the rack, not replaced with clean ones! The hotel would suit youngsters and backpackers, the bar/restaurant was noisy with very loud music and tables were left uncleared or dirty. The receptionist when we left was very polite and pleasant.

View, price, service, bar and restaurant. Absolutely amazing experience! Free wifi did not reach the top floor. We stayed on the top floor or the fourth floor and the wifi didn't reach, but I would trade that for an amazing view any day!

Superb location overlooking the old port with easy access to the train station and Metro. Extremely helpful, friendly staff and a great bar with excellent music. Have already recommended to friends who plan to visit Marseilles in the near future. No real compalints except for the main entrance to the hotel which is very dowdy-looking and not representative of the rest of the facility.

The hotel looks like it should be in a 1950's film .. it is utterly charming and located in the Old Port area. It was easy to reach by subway from La Gare Saint Charles, and is directly facing the marina with a gorgeou views of Notre Dame de la Garde (probably most of Marseille has that though). It also has a very cool bar on the first floor which seemed more of a haunt for locals than visitors. We only stayed one night but the room was well appointed and newly refurbished.. all mod cons, super clean bathroom, and lovely staff. If I had to complain I'd say that from our room, which wasn't off the central staircase, you couldn't get wifi. I had to sit on the stairs to use it. However it is free and fine and I found out later that there were chairs on the third floor so I could have been a lot more comfortable.

Hotel has a great location, room had a great view over the harbour and the Notre dame de la Garde! Price was good, hotel has a very nice, kinda bohemien jazzy bar-restaurant, also frequented by locals, on the first floor (where also the tiny reception is in the stairway!). Not a cheap bar though, but a nice change from the usual hotelbars. Marseille, and many bars, restaurants and shopping on its doorstep. No elevator! We had a room on the 4th floor. No problem for us but take into account if you have heavy suitcases or physical drawbacks. Room was small, expensive roomservice, and expensive snacks, no need for this in a 2 star hotel anyway. Small bed. Requested bathtub, didn't get it. Rather unintested personel at reception. Bar is great but pricy. All in all a fair price for a two star, expect no more than you pay for.

If you're looking for a cheap hotel in the city center this is your place in marseille. Good view of the marina. If you like climbing stairs you'll like it here... The room was at the fifth floor. Without an elevator that was no fun. How can you rate the staff if you only see them at check-in and check out! The safe was a joke.

Location was excellent in Vieux Port. There is no lift and we did request room with a view, which we did get. However it was on the 5th floor and was an attic room. This would not be a problem only my husband is 6ft 3 and therefore had a few run ins with the ceiling!

The location. The dirty foyer, non functioning wifi and safe, the cupboard doors that did not open, the broken shelf in the bathroom, the key tassle that fell to pieces all over the floor and was not cleaned up, the dead orchid ...

The view! The bar/restaurant Caravelle: a gem of a bygone era! But 99 euros for a 9 square meter room single room in a two star hotel is over-priced...60 Would be a good value for a room on the fourth floor (no elevator). There was construction and nothing was on the website of the hotel.

Fantastic view over the old port and the Notre Dame de la Garde. Also very central situated, you can reach most of the "must see" places within short and at foot Cannot say anything negative

We loved the view of the Old Harbor. The room was very small but immaculate with a good bathroom. The bar on the second floor had the same great view and very nice service. We definitely would return. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants. The lack of an elevator. But the price was right.

Nothing, the room 41 was terrible with a putrid smell emanating from the bathroom. It was so bad my wife could not even shower in the morning. The bar on floor 1 was excellent, old world with great staff, but this had nothing to do with the accommodation. Additionally you could not charge your bar bill to your room, which is antiquated , but possibly it is leased out.

This hottel is lpcated beautifully in the harbour of the city of Marseille. The terrace is beautiful, frinedly staff... The hotel advertises that is has WiIFI, but as i understood from the staff it hardly ever works, as it did not during my stay. This was very annoying for me as i was on a business trip and selected the hotel partly on the basis that it did have WIFI. Dealbreaker in my point of view.

I liked the location of the Hotel Belle-Vue for a varied holiday, also many restaurants to chose from within the area of the hotel, the local transport is located close by for easy access to visit nearby beaches sliding wardrobe doors would not slide to close, limited clothes hangers, jazz band not there in the bar area in peak tourist times

Cocktail bar looking over the marina was a delight. A lift would be helpful, not a hotel suitable for anyone who cannot manage stairs.

The location is amazing. Having a view overlooking the old port and a view of the Notre Dame de la Gard at night was beautful. Being able to lean from the window and watch the people in the streets at night was lovely. We knew about there being no lift and once the bags had being taken up to the rooms on the 4th floor it wasn't a problem - just viewed the daily climbs as our exercise for the day!

“I don't believe you can find a better value with location and quality in Marseille. It is easy to locate, ideal for walking to all areas of the city including (obviously) the Vieux-port, the city's shopping area, boat rides, as well as Notre Dame de la Garde. No charge for Wifi is a big plus. Parking is across the street in an underground garage, easy to get back and forth to hotel. I have stayed here on two separate trips and will continue to stay here on return trips. ” Ursula, Norfolk |
