Score from 284 reviews Very good
the staff were all friendly, we seemed to be checked in by the chef which was certainly a first. The hotel looked very clean and tidy and the Restaurant menu looked very appealing.
We asked for a double bed and got two singles pushed together. I think when your paying over €100 a night you want a proper double bed. Although the price is very much a reflection of the excellent location. Use of the pool was very expensive at €15 pp a day and so we didn't use it. Would like to see the pool being free to guests, I've never had to pay to use a hotel pool before, although I understand it does include the use of other facilities.
The hotel is very good although not much of a carpark . staff are very friendly .
There was a confusion about tea and coffee in the room .. The hotel brochure states tea and coffee in the room but there was no kettle ! Also the restaurant was a bit expensive
well styled classy hotel, friendly and very wecoming. the rooms were excellent too.
The welcome, the courteous staff, the attention to detail, THE FOOD WAS EXCEPTIONAL!! far beyond what we were expecting. Great presentation, local sourcing perfect cooking and excellent waiting service, made for a very memorable evening. Well done to all involved.
The room could have been a little larger with a relaxing couple of chairs or a sofa, but no reason not to stay again.
Everything perfect, shame I didn't pack swimsuits. Main breakfast bit pricey but first class nevertheless.
room was great, staff were mostly helpful.hotel close to town centre and harbour
wifi not great in the room, breakfast not worth the 16euro price. To top it all asked about the spa and was told we had to book and pay 15euro each.a bit much when we paid over 100euro a night. would not stay there again
the staff where so helpful attending to us whenever asked and even helping when we didn't e.g., my husband was cleaning the insects of our car windscreen and they kindly offered as a bowl of warm water and a cloth to help with the job.
it was very noisy the first night until the early hours of the morning. I think there was a student event going on somewhere.
All staff were friendly, courteous and helpful and the room was superb for such a centrally located hotel.
A little awkward getting into and out of the car-park at times, but this is only to be expected from such a central location.
The hotel location provides easy access to the pedestrian zone and museums.
Standard room quite small. Since there was no a/c the window needed to stay open all night which increased street / courtyard noise. Not a restful night.
Great location and helpful staff
The hotel has pictures of the spa etc but you have to reserve it and it costs 15 euro per person per hour even if there are very few guests at the hotel. It's a pity this is a surcharge.
Accommodation. Ambiance. Efficient staff. Excellent fine dining & wines. Easy drive to ferry terminal at 0630 hours just 15 kilometres. Definitely worth a visit for the food & wines.
Risked missing the ferry due to inconsiderate parking by the vehicle parked at the entrance to the driveway. There is a concrete block on the left to prevent vehicles touching the wall at the exit but the vehicle parked in the bay to the right stood out from the wall thereby restricting exit!! maybe an inch either side to escape. I would recommend the hotel staff to supervise the parking in that space as it would not be possible to identify the driver & get him or her out of bed to move the vehicle blocking the exit at 0630 hours when there are no staff on the reception desk.
The staff was very good and happy.
Was not our favorite town.
A superb meal in lovely quiet room. And they upgraded us to a suite.
The location and the free onsite car park - when available.
Arrived at 3 pm to be told our room was not ready, then another member of staff said, in a manner which suggested he was doing us a great favour, that we could be given another room which was ready. This room was accessed by a door from the parking area into the lift lobby - tiny lift and narrow spiral staircase.
This hotel is spotlessly clean and very central.
We stayed in the top floor where you have to go outside the building to go to. The stairs is so narrow & twisty!! Lift is tiny!!!!
Great central location
Staff Extremely expensive Small room Cracked toilet seats Dated design
The friendly, helpful staff The room and the comfortable bed
The spa is not free to residents. The wine list in the restaurant contained only very expensive options. The bottled water and after-dinner coffee were also pricey. Although we enjoyed our stay we felt a bit ripped off by these 'extras'.
The staff were extremely helpful and spoke good English. Our room was very spacious and clean with an extremely comfortable bed. Located in the heart of Caen, this hotel is close to shops, restaurants and the most beautiful architecture you could ever hope to see. I can highly recommend this lovely hotel.
The location & staff were wonderful
The gym was tiny & some equipment didn't work. Significant extra cost to use any spa facilities - so I can't comment on them.
rooms + parking
breakfst with no eggs with bacon & tomatoes
Even with the event period, the value for money was not quite there
Convenient location, quiet spot
No lift, no wardrobe in room, just shower and no bath tub, unreliable WiFi, cramped room, room temperature not controlled, limited parking
The food in the restaurant was Michelin star quality.
There is no lift in the old part of the hotel.
