Fab.......just in front of booking cabin for ferry to Ils de Brehat. Parking facilities, but not pre warned.....at an additional cost.
Restaurant very expensive. Nothing else available other than gaustro restaurant. (Although food fantastic!)
The location, of course, right opposite the Isle de Bréhat, a "pedestrian only" breton jewel. The Isle de Bréhat is very popular and the "vedette" leaves right in front of the hotel, which is very entertaining as the landing point can be either right at the feet of the hotel terrasse or a few hundred meters away -- the tides are most spectacular at this point! Very friendly personnel, good advice, super-clean hotel, excellent view (for the front rooms). Good internet system, ample parking. Spa small but very usable. Restaurant is of very high standard and offers very good service -- we've had the best seafood platter ever, the "plateau royal".
Renovation a bit too modern, present owners could have left some of the "old world" charm of the original "Hôtel du Barbu" at least in the front building. Be prepared to put up with the huge surrounding parkings and some bustle.
Our room was in the gable and we had to be careful not to bang our heads. However the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom very modern. Nice to have tea making facilities. Excellent breakfast.
we were not impressed with the dinner menu. very poor choice and very expensive.
fantastic location at sea side
noisy parking place in front of the hotel, inefficient service in the expensive restaurant
The room was very modern and new. The people at the front desk went out of their way to be helpful, and they spoke good English. Food and service at the restaurant were great.
The view and the breakfast!!
Warmth of welcome. We were shown to our room and given lots of information on hotel & Brehat. Plenty of areas for relaxation on the terraces, in the conservatory and elsewhere. Swimming Pool. On the beach. Stunning views.
Could have had clearer instructions/notices to find hotel initially. No air conditioning in room. Breakfast was poor value and disappointing quality unless you liked champagne & oysters!
The location is fantastic and the view from our room amazing there was always something to look at. The room was very comfortable and had everything we required. The welcome plate of fruit was lovely.
The room was very clean and well presented. Having use of the pool was a real bonus. But the views were the best part, located just next to the sea it has great views of the stunning coastline. Overall this was our favourite stay during our 10 days in France.
Ok it's not the cheapest place to stay but value wise it's worth the money.
View and facilities
location views comfort
waitress attitude when told the meat could not be cut
Beautiful spot . Lovely views over water. Wish we'd found the accom earlier so could have enjoyed more time in area. Only had an overnight stop
Location and room terraces
In a wonderful location with excellent views. A great restaurant although not cheap. Staff were all very helpful and most understood a little English, some were fluent.
Limited facilities outside the hotel without driving. You might not be aware when booking that there is an extra charge for parking although the security of the car park is welcome.
Reception staff very helpful when we checked in. Meal in the hotel was very good but expensive.
Room was quite small which was OK for one night but not if we were going to be staying longer.
Our room was excellent, the staff most helpful and pleasant. The sea view from our room was outstanding, and thus the sunrises magnificent. The breakfasts were excellent, I have never seen Oysters and Champagne on a breakfast bar before, (not that we availed ourselves of this choice!!) For sure the best Fillet Steak I have ever had!! Superb.
We must emphasise that the following is In no way a criticism of this hotel, or anything to do with it, but an observation of the area and tourist facilities: Judging by the massive parking facilities in the area, we wondered if, in high season, it may become overcrowded. It was not high season when we were there. The Isle de Bréhat was not particularly interesting for us, indeed we wondered what the attraction was. Although we speak some French, the 'round the island' commentary was somewhat above our heads and thus it was disappointing to see one of the crew members standing with a hat held out for donations as we left the Ferry. We had not understood most of the commentary, we did not donate, we had paid for the trip as it was. This can be an embarrassment for some and leave a poor impression.
