Score from 212 reviews Wonderful
Set in the picturesque historic town of Le Mans, set along the Sarthe River, the hotel is located within easy reach of all that the area has to offer.
Score from 138 reviews Good
the peaceful setting.
the fact that we could not get anything to eat on arrival, at 8:30pm. Dinning room fully ( we hadn't booked), staff too busy for room service. not good as there was no where in the village to eat.
Room, bathroom, staff
Cost of dining, especially breakfast which was expensive
Lovely room and bathroom. Staff very helpful.
Could do with a fan in the room.
Good hotel, family room a lovely size and layout. main building better than stable block. Grounds were beautiful.
Over-priced for the facilities available. Lack of menu choice and restaurant timings for children a real let down as had to drive 15mins to find food for kids... and overpriced breakfasts a shame.
The location and dinner
The bath and sink in the bedroom, not in a cool contemporary way !
We arrived late due to hold ups at Euro tunnel but staff all helpful and although restaurant closed we were served with cold platters and delicious local wine. We stayed in newly renovated stables all very well equipped and comfortable. The chateau building and grounds outstanding, shame outdoor facilities need to be updated now eg. Tennis court. However, for a short stopover this was a great start to our holiday.
The view on arrival was impressive. The room was a good size and comfortable. The staff were helpful and courteous. The restaurant was good at dinner. Car parking was very good.
No air conditioning caused us to request an alternative room, as the room initially offered was on a SW elevation an suffered the effects of the sun all day. An alternative room was offered at the opposite end of the hotel which was a more acceptable temp. We were also given a fan.
The location, house & grounds were lovely. The staff were excellent & the food in the restaurant for dinner was fantastic.
The breakfast wasn't very inspiring. It was a continental buffet with not much choice & burnt croissants.
Helpfulness of the receptionist. Pleasant evening meal. Amazing setting for a beautiful building.
Signage to the hotel limited
The people here are just fantastic. So helpful. My French is not what it used to be, they were straight in to helping and charming with it too. The food was great, the place is great. very enjoyable.
my only problem was trying to find the place. The address I downloaded was not helpful. It gave the name of a town miles away from the hotel. It would make more sense to use the name of the village it is near and to have directions too. There are no signs when you come off the motorway giving a clue. Why name the hotel in 2 different ways????
The position and grounds; the easy-access bedroom; the food and service for the dinner.
The instructions for access (inadequate for coming from the motorway); the lack of shelf space in the bathroom; the almost total chaos at breakfast (inadequate machines, and poor physical arrangement of everything)
Location was perfect and room slept all 5 of us.
Slightly pricey room for a one night stop over but still enjoyed it.
Food was good, simple and tasty. Outside seating area for dinner was great, beautiful outlook. Peaceful. Staff very professional and polite.
the location,the building,the staff
the standard of food in the restaurant was disapointing.
The beautiful castle and its park
The room was very clean and the bed confortable. Lovely shower etc. Even though we were disapointed not to be staying in the main house the room was very good. The hotel looks great from the outside. Would we stay here again? Not sure.
Place very difficult to find. Decor was too modern for the building. We were not staying in the main house but what must have been stables. There was very heavy rain during our stay and we got quite wet on the trip from our room to the main house for breakfast. This meal was a joke as we had to look for cutlery etc and no-one seemed to understand what we wanted even with my best schoolgirl french and lots of miming. There seemed to be a lack of head waiter/waitress which caused a bit of confusion.
Lovely quiet location. Friendly helpful staff. Very large room in one of the out-buildings.
Beautiful chateau hotel, drinks on the patio on arrival, great room and full body shower, followed by a very good evening dinner. Highly recommended
Could not find anything to not like
Staff were friendly and helpful, particularly Michel.
We booked a Privilege room @ Euro155 per night. There were no drawers for clothes, tiles missing on the bathroom floor, damage to the sink surround, on 2 of the 5 nozzles on the power shower worked, the bedside lamp was broken and, of the 18 channels advertised on the tv, only 9 worked. A walk in the woodland around the hotel revealed poorly maintained paths and a huge pile of rubbish (old sinks and other debris). Despite being called a Country Club, there are no facilities whatsoever. We had one evening meal which was ok, but pricey (the wine, a St Nicolas, was 30 Euros - freely available locally for around 7 Euros). We constantly had to ask for milk, tea and coffee to be replaced in the room. The bill for two nights, with one meal only and no breakfast ? 413.40 Euros. Compare this to the Hotel Ricordeau in Loue nearby: way, way superior in every aspect, great food, superb facilities, beautiful rooms at a comparable price (we stayed there before, but missed booking it for this trip).
When you see the picture of this magnificent building and find out you are not sleeping there but into an annex building about 100 yards away is disappointing.
Clean and comfortable
The shockingly lime green and soulless reception. Expecting old and traditional, it was quite harrowing on arrival. The rooms were functional and bland, no original character or charm of what was probably once a beautiful Chateaux.
Impressive from the outside
Poor quality inside and not clean. Very run down. Menu limited
No satellite TV
Room, bathroom, breakfast extremely poor, staff non english speaking, reception non 24h, etc. Should be a 2-3 stars hotel, definitely not 4.
Lovely chateau building
Rather expensive restaurant with limited menu
