Grand Hotel, a Boscolo First Class Hotel11 Rue Grolée, La Presqu'île, 69002 Lyon (Show map) Good, Score from 591 reviews“The hotel is extremely well located, which is a huge advantage when we are visiting the city without a car. The room was small though for a 4 stars hotel, however very clean and comfortable. It was very well heated. The breakfast buffet was great. I would recommend it for a nice stay in Lyon.”
Claudine,
Beirut

The soundproofed rooms have a classic décor and are air conditioned and equipped with a private bathroom, satellite TV and wired internet. Some rooms have a view of the courtyard. Guests can enjoy a drink in the Boscolo’s art-deco lounge bar, Le Tilbury. A buffet breakfast is served daily in the stylish dining area. Boscolo Grand Hotel Lyon is ideally located less than half a mile from Place Bellecour, the largest pedestrian square in Europe and less than half a mile from Nouvel Opera House. It is a 2-minute walk from the Cordeliers Bourse metro station. Hotel Rooms: 140, Hotel Chain: Boscolo First Class Hotels.

It was in an excellent Lyon location, and we could walk to everything. The staff was friendly and the lobby area was very nice. We were upgraded to a suite, but the room was pretty small so I would recommend getting a "suite" because the standard rooms must have been even smaller. We were on the top floor during a heat wave and the air conditioning was not working. When we informed them of this upon checking out (we weren't entirely sure it wasn't working, but the room was awfully hot), they said that yes they knew it wasn't working. But there was no discount on the room or anything; all they said was that we should have informed them and they would have switched rooms. The only thing difficult about the location is transporting from the train station (where the express train from the airport takes you)...they are not near either of the two train stations in the center of the city, so you must take a cab or a bus from the train station. If you take the bus, then you still have to walk several blocks with your luggage, so the taxi is the better option.

Location of the hotel is fine and the room was clean. I don't like the cold floor in the bathroom and there were not slippers and I had to put on my boots when I entered the bathroom. There were very unconvinient beds in the room and very cold covers. I cold in your hotel!!!!!!

Location and price The bar was closed @ 21:00. There was nothing going on in the lobby that was empty all the time you could think you were the only client. It had a "has been" feeling, like it had seen better days. Smelled of cost cutting. Could do with some fresher paints in the rooms and all.

The staff was very helpful. Bathrooms are large and have been updated. Not a four star hotel. Faded elegance.

The hotel was well located. The look of the room, which was very old fashion and the carpet was dirty. The elevator was out of order.

Hotel is located in the central of Lyon. It is very convenient. ... However, facilities in the hotel are very old. The bed in our room is absolutely overused so that it is not comfortable at all. The room is on 5th floor (top floor) and it is quite hot since air conditioner does not work very well (not very cold, noisy). We asked a quite room, but the staff gave us a room next to the street. I wish they could have given us a room facing court

The hotel needs a refurbishment. In fact, it would have needed a refurbishement in the 1980s already. It looks like nothing has been done since the 1960s, and it definitely needs it. The building is very nice, and the hotel could be first class... But huge lack of investment here!

The location is perfect and the building is "Grand", for access to sights, markets restaurants it is difficult to beat. The hotel is tired. Some rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment and there is a real contrast between what you recieve in terms of accomodation. With some lifts not working and the having to ask for better accomodation in which the staff were helpful the broad negative comment would be that it needs a face lift.

Hotel staff and reception very friendly and helpful. Furniture in art-deco style is comfortable, the room was clean and of acceptable size. Breakfast buffet was correct. All in all good value for money. Excellent situation in the heart of the city within walking distance of all major attractions.

Staff are nice and friendly, and the location is good. This is not a four star, not even a good three star hotel. The room we stayed in had a tiny poky bathroom with a shower which flooded the whole bathroom (inc toilet) when in use. It was ok-ish for the price we paid (although I think even then, we could have done better elsewhere). I don't know how Boscolo gets away calling this a Boscolo First Class Hotel when it is clearly not! No room service by the way on Sunday - what's that about? The star rating is ridiculous, it is deception.

This hotel is ideally situated for my family visit I possibly would use it again because of this. staff very obliging. I did not think the room was as good as I thought it might be and we were put at the back of the hotel. Having a classic room we thought might be more than a standard room which we would suggest this was. We had a long walk to the dining room. (Lift out of order) no facilities to have dinner and the cost of drinks in the bar was very expensive over 23 Euros for 1 gin and tonic and a pint of larger! The entrance and foyer are lovely but its lifeless and the bar area is very under utilised jean phillis december 2011

We liked everything about our stay at the Boscolo Hotel; its level of comfort (even in the not so large rooms of the 5th floor!), the cleanliness and absolute quietness, the smiling welcome of the staff. Excellent breakfast, perfect location. In short, remarkable value for the money!

Lovely location, and grand entrance, but rooms are getting old: needs badly refreshing. Usually stay at sofitel and for same price, this latter is much nicer, modern, and generally more welcoming. Bsocolo needs badly a revamp.

My husband and I found the hotel very well located and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They even managed to find us a good restaurant to go to at midnight! The room was adequate, a little small, but very quiet. We will use this hotel again when we are next in Lyon.

Centrally located in Lyon, right across the street from a Michelin two star restaurant or a short walk from Leon de Lyon. Great service to compensate for some shortcomings like an iffy internet access.

On arrival our room was not made up. The staff were excellent and most apologetic. So much so they instantly upgraded us to a luxury room with views over the river Rhone. The staff were most helpful and friendly. Not much to criticise. I understand that the Boscolo group have only recently taken over the hotel. To nit pick the room could be redecorated sometime soon but I'm sure that is all being organised anyway.
