Arrived with my girlfriend for a weekend. We booked the hotel for three nights. On the second night I find out that my best friend is in the hospital with a major food poisoning in another European city. In the morning (9-10am) I notify the hotel that I urgently need to depart and asked them to book me a train ticket and prepare my checkout invoice. The concierge called me back stating that the only tickets available (for 2 people) 900 euros. As the concierge stated, there was nothing else available. Considering the urgency, I was going to buy them although the whole thing was quite pricey for a train. Than my gf said I should check myself, I downloaded the thyles app and to my surprise found loads of tickets for my route (160 euros for the two of us) ...alright, typical rip off that concierge pulls on their visitors, I can understand that. I called the concierge and said I wouldn't be needing their service (of cheating me) As I rush down to check out, I explain the urgency, apologise for my early check out, nevertheless the receptionist and then the manager that day, tell me they won't refund my money for the last night because I didn't notify them 24 hrs in advance (I found out about my buddy in the middle of the night) ...for the next 40 minutes we are screaming at each other, I'm emotional, they almost cheat me with the train tickets and now the want to keep my money for the last night. They say that they are overbooked, and we didn't notify them 24hrs in advance. My girlfriend checked booking at that point, 3-4 available rooms. Another lie. Than the manager says something that really throws me away, "if you can send us a proof that your friend is in the hospital, than we'll refund you your 550 euros." I didn't know how to react, I felt like I was back in elementary school, I need a doctors note.
The best thing about the hotel is the bar, that's near by ...and not actually the hotel. They should stick to what they know best.
