We were completing a 2-week vacation in Normandy and Brittany, and catching an early morning tgv to Paris, connecting by bus to cdg for our return flight to California. We chose Campanile Rennes Centre primarily for its proximity to the train station, economical pricing, and selected it over other nearby hotels based on reviews from previous guests that we read on line. The room was very nice, with extras like WiFi, and a coffee service, very clean, comfortable and quiet; larger bathroom. The manager helped us locate a nearby restaurant (we wanted duck), where we had an excellent dinner within a very short walk. Due to the high level of traffic congestion near the train depot, there is no place to disembark from a car, except by double parking, turning on the hazard flashers, and hope not to be cited by the police. This seems to be common practice, but unfamiliar to visitors.

The location of the hotel is superb, directly across from main railway station and metro for around the city Cleaners can be a bit quick in the morning to get in a clean up. However going to a hotel where this is happening is more of a pleasure than a problem

The location of the Hotel to the station is walking distance. The staff were very helpful and welcoming on our arrival. This is a budget hotel with clean comfortable rooms and most adequate for a short stay.

No parking available. It is a very high additionnal expense in the center. At least a discount on parking would be needed.

Good location and amenities for the price. You had to leave your keys at the front desk, which is normal, however the staff seem put off if you were going out past 22h or if you came back to your room more than once in a short period of time. I know there's not much of a nightlife in Rennes, but this hotel seemed to cater more towards older couples.

Very helpful staff, willing to go that extra mile to ensure our stay was perfect. Very clean and comfortable room. In a great location in a wonderful city. The hotel served it's purpose perfectly. My only negative comment is the elevator is very small and it was quite tough fitting in there with a pushchair.

Kettle and tea in room. Instructions to find it not clear - took ages to find even though it is right next to the station - this could have been explained better.

Very good for the price. The hotel is only a few steps from the station (and also the bus stop to get to Mont St Michel). The only hotel at this price that offers tea/coffee facilities and air conditioner. The room is a bit small

The staff were very friendly and eager to help us. What was described as a twin room was in fact a double sofa bed which, when folded out, meant that we couldn't walk around the bed as there was a table and so had to go onto the bed just to get to the other side of the room. Also, despite the staff being friendly they asked us to clean our own kitchen, empty our own bins, take off the linen and towels and ensure the bathroom was clean, which was because they apparantly didn't have a maid. We were told check out was at 10am which was fine, however someone woke us up at quarter to 9 and asked if we were on our way out, when we said no she asked if we could be out before 10am as she wanted to clean!

“The Hoel Kyriad is a lovely hotel, and very conveniently located across the road from the gare-SNCF and within a short walk of all the sights and restaurants of the 'old centre'. The staff are very welcoming and speak several languages to suit their clientele. They very helpfully let us park our two bicycles in a safe area in a staff room, and were happy to give us access to the area so that we couldtake the bikes apart for the train trip home. The buffet is very good. The rooms are clean and large, with airconditioning.” Katrina, Aix En Provence |
