The CapEurope was noisey, with clanging doors. You can hear other people who are staying especially if they're noisey and inconsiderate. There was also an incident with bedbugs in one of the rooms.

Calm area but still not far from the real center with the shopping facilities. Half way walking from the train station and the European parliament where I had to go. There is a park at the end of the street for relaxing. The toilet in my room was too high and when I sat my feet hardly touched the floor. This is absolutely not ergonomic. In Summer Strasbourg is a very hot place, so the air conditionning would be a nice to have. Maybe the price would raise then.

The staff. I have stayed at this hotel before and like it very much. All rooms have got their own kitchen corners, the hotel is very reasonably priced and the location is rather good (very close to a tram stop, 15 minutes to the city center on foot, 20 minutes to the European Parliament).

I had a very spacious room, as a Standard Apartment for 2 persons. It had a lcd tv that we almost never used, being too busy. The bed was also very nice and wide, the pillows were the only problem, they were strange and somehow uncomfortable. In the kitchen you get the hot plates, refrigerator, microwave oven. They took out the garbage and changed the towels every day. It's good to go there in late autumn, winter and spring, it's very warm inside because of their centralized system, but they have no air conditioners so it will be at least uncomfortable to go there in summer. Our first room was awful, about half the area of the current one, and full of smoke smell like someone smoked there for weeks, so we had to go at the reception and ask for another room, and then the second room was perfect, a strange feeling that almost all the hotels I've been have the same attitude in giving rooms. As it had the kitchen with some cutlery and plates, it didn't have anything to use it to prepare something on the hot plates given, not even a boiler or something, we had only some dishes that seemed to be brought by other people in the past and left there, so the hot plates are useless if you don't bring something to use on them by yourself, at the reception they said that they don't have anything to give us. For some people the fact that they clean the room only once in a week or so, will be unacceptable.

Great location, walking distance to town center as well as to the nearest tram station. Room was equipped with kitchen utensils, including pots and various cutlery and a microwave. Room was clean, fairly new as well as well-heated. The bathroom would have been better with a proper shower door and drainage instead of flimsy curtains that flooded the floors. Walls are also thin and noise from the staircase and corridors could be heard loudly. Certain staff members were unfriendly/unhelpful.

The hotel rooms are dingy and poorly lit. Non-smoking rooms are that in name only. Guests can smoke like mad and the odor permeates the hallways and other rooms. Also, even in a non-smoking room the linens smell of cigarette smoke. The so-called "apartment" for 4 persons was a single room with 2 double beds, neither of which was a queen and neither of had 2 separate mattresses. Be sure to have an alarm as there are no telephones for wake up calls. The hotel advertises that it has parking but there is not nearly enough to accommodate the clients and we were simply fortunate to have found street parking nearby. The hotel bathrooms work but have virtually no amenities and only limited linens. The staff was adequate but no more.

The room was ideal for self catering in the short term, the location was just the right distance from city centre and close to the excellent city tram service. We will be going back to Strasborg and will stay at the Cap again.

“The apartment is literally a stone's throw away from the train station, making it very easy to get to and fro the station. The room was very large and spacious and the toilet was pretty clean too. The reception spoke very good English (and a whole host of other languages, e.g. Spanish). For the price we paid, it is definitely something we would recommend to others visiting Strasbourg. We had a small kitchen in the room, but we didn't use it at all (they had crockeries and utensils provided). The reception is also open 24 hours.” Erik, Glasgow |
