The hotel Castex has been our preferred hotel for several visits to Paris. It is quiet, comfortable and has a great location near the Bastille and St Paul metros. If you want to walk into Paris it is 15 minutes up the road and the Seine is just 5 minutes away, as is Notre Dame and Place Des Vosges. As in all of Paris there are great bakeries and pastry shops all around. Some of the best falafel are just minutes away in Rue du Rosiers and there some excellent Moroccan places east of Bastille. There is a very good Monoprix supermarket 5 minutes walk away and a laundromat around the corner. The staff are very friendly and efficient and there is free wifi.

Nice style and clean. The bed was comfortable and the room was very quite. Close to good shopping, bakeries, food and nighlife. Easy walk to Notre Dame. Good eleavator and good bathroom with nice towels and shanpoo ect. I was worried that we would have noise with the eleavator on one side of the room and the stairs on the other but never heard a thing! Some things were a bit sloppy like paint splatered on drapes and a couple of burnt out bulbs. Very small closets (but there was one on each side of the bed!) and no drawer space. Only one person could pass at a time in front of the bed, but this is Paris. Maybe some of the other rooms had better clearance. Ours was next to the stairs that cut into our floor space

Comfortable, clean and great location. Bastille is a beautiful place to wander around - great bakeries and coffee. Close to all the main tourist spots like the notre dame etc. You can walk, ride or catch a quick (5min) train to the centre of town. We loved staying in this area. Go with your own plans - while staff are friendly, not a lot of help offered by them in terms of booking day trips or getting familiar with the city.

Location is fantastic - quiet road very close to Bastille and Place des Vosges. A 'local feel' and possible to find reasonable restaurants close by, as well as reputed brasseries eg Bofinger (3 mins walk), and several on Rue de St Louis en L'isle (10 mins walk). Staff welcoming and very helpful. Easy transport (metro 5 stops from Gare du Nord). Good-value breakfast. Nice to have a full bathroom with bath as well as shower. All in all the hotel exceeded our expectations. As with so many Paris hotels, the bedrooms are a bit small (perfect for one!)

Castex Hotel is a non-descript hotel in the Marais district in Paris. When you walk up there is nothing that makes you think it is a great hotel. The lobby is very modest. The rooms small (just like most 2 or 3 stars in Paris!) However, the room is spotless, the sheets are crisp and clean and everyday, my room was cleaned perfectly. For me, that is so important. Few rooms in the usa, unless you are staying in a very nice hotel, are what I would consider very clean. The breakfast, I do not feel is worth 11 euros. It's bread, coffee, packets of cheese and some sort of egg dish. They were wonderful about just letting me have a cup of coffee, but the best thing would be to go out to the street and grab a wonderful croissant for a euro. Lastly, the staff. Very helpful. Go in with expectations of a modest hotel and you will not be disappointed.

Castex was in a fabulous location, just off the Bastille. Staff were friendly but reserved. Rooms were quite small but generally clean and comfortable. Rooms at the front were very noisy (double-glazing didn't fit well). Rooms at back were much quieter. A good hotel for sight- seeing, with many good restaurants and cafes nearby.

The Castex Hotel was very close to the Bastille, convenient to the Metro, and exceptional in every way. Our host upon arrival, Eskander, was absolutely fantastic in his immeccable English, warm reception, and answering our many questions about Paris. Nassim and Christof, other front desk hosts, were also very kind and helpful. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Paris. It was clean, the front desk personnel were friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and the breakfast buffet was wonderful.

I had 2 bookings here first one was last minute single day stay the room was smaller than a full size bathroom but because it was a very last minute booking can't complain much, next 2 days I had booked a triple room and that was fantastic both occasions they gave complimentary french wine excellent the reception staff is very cooperative & nice Hotel is located in a small street and taxi fellow had to struggle to find it just want to warn travelers in paris to be aware of taxi drivers overall nice stay good restaurants around.

The hotel staff were always courtesy & helpful. The room by Paris standards was comfortable and reasonably spacious. The en-suite bathroom, especially the shower, was very good. Although close to the Bastille we were not disturb at night by traffic noise. We felt that breakfast was not good value for money and our one breakfast on the morning we left was not inspiring with little of no service from the staff which spoilt things just a little. Maybe we chose the wrong morning.
