The decor was quirky and unusual but it worked for the type of hotel. The rooms were very large, airy and well furnished. Breakfast was good and the hotel was quiet. The owner was very helpful and spoke very good English.

This is a standalone chateau with a big park. Very romantic place. There is a real atmosphere of old chateau. It is a quiet area close to a river. The management is very polite and helpful. I got a ride in an owner’s car to get a center of Saumur. I liked that when I arrived before check-in time my room was already prepared and I was able to get it.

It would be good if rooms had fridges.

Bruno made us feel very welcome. Excellent suggestion for our evening meal, one of our best we had in Europe. Slept like a log.

The toilet in the cupboard was a little small if you were 6foot tall or larger. A little expensive for what we got.

The room was fabulous. Absolutely spotless and huge. Bathroom amazing and so much room. We had lovely breakfasts with delicious bread and croissants. A lovely warm welcome from a friendly and helpful host. The whole building and grounds are quirky, interesting, extremely comfortable and we would love to return.

This chateau is a short drive (10 mins max) from the centre of Saumur. It is set in a quiet residential area but feels like it's in the middle of the French countryside. Bruno, the owner, speaks fluent English has restored and furnished the Chateau to its original plendour. Bruno's Our room was large and opulently furnished with a patio door that opened into the orangery. The mature gardens have a number of hidden gems. The ample breakfast included fresh fruit, Yoghurt, juice, bread and pastries. This was a most relaxing stay, I only wish I'd booked longer than one night.

nothing to dislike, we were made to feel very welcome.

The Chateau was just as it looks in the photos. The grounds were lovely with lots of trees and flowers. The town is a short distance away by car and is picturesque.

Setting, grounds, ambiance, and welcome by our host Bruno.

Although the bathroom was sumptuous and very well appointed, it was a little let down by taps swhich were quite difficult to manouver with wet hands, as one would have after soaking in the generous size bath. Overall though, a very delightful stopover experience

Bruno is an excellent host and has made the chateau a place to make his guests comfortable. While I was there I needed to call a recovery service for my car, he translated for me when the engineer arrived and let us wait in the chateau. The breakfast was very good and fresh and the room, large with an equally impressive bathroom. The room's window looked out at the town's famous chateau in the distance.

This may sound a little "picky" but the marvellous super king bed had a mattress that was too soft for us and we felt as if we wer falling out of it. I think that it is us and not thebed that was a problem!

We stayed here for four nights and we enjoyed ourselves so much. We went downtown, we visited the castle, we rode bikes down a great bike path that goes for miles. You can go in either direction to ride and see all kinds of wine producers, chateaus and caves. Most of this was suggested by our host. Bruno was very accommodating and he suggested great restaurants at night to end the perfect day in Saumur. He was so helpful, he even made reservations for us! Our room was very nice and spacious, with a nice view of the castle in the distance. Our breakfast was great, I hope for good croissants in France, these were really good. We had some bad ones in Paris. The grounds are big and there is a pool for those hot days, but we were so busy going to see everything, we did not have time to relax in it. The house is close to nice restaurants and some wineries. This is a great place to stay and Bruno will always be ready to suggest anything you want to do or places to go. Or if you just want to relax, bring a book and sit by the pool or sit in the Terrace and enjoy the view.

We didn't get to talk to Bruno about the history of the house.

Bruno, the owner/Manager was an excellent host! Very pleasant, friendly, helpful and informative. I would recommend to everyone!

There was nothing not to like! Only thing I didn't like was that it was fully booked and I couldn't stay longer!
