Very nice and old castle, equipped with old furniture, very huge rooms, authentic feeling, familiy-owned, very nice and helpful staff
This is an excellent place to stay. Brunot, the owner is so gentle that your staying is so pleasant that you must return.
Bruno is a wonderful and caring host. The rooms are big and well appointed. The chateau is a slice of days gone by and has a great ambiance. Breakfast was good.
Quite a hike from the city centre, is about 25 min walk.
Bruno (owner & staff) was very friendly and usefull. The room is like in a movie; an amazing castle and romantic. We were very surprised and loved it. Spent time in the golden jacuzzy and my wife loved the room decoration. One of the best hotel we have been...
This chateau is wonderful, and the host was warm and welcoming. We enjoyed sitting in the gardens having some wine, and exploring the Saumur area.
Lovely place to stay and thanks to the host's hospitality we had a great stay during a 2 days visit. The place is near a supermarket and not quite far away from the downtown (by car). Also I would strongly recommend you to have a jogging outside to join the fresh air. There's a cute little forest behind the castle which really worth a visit.
A little expensive
king size bed clean kind host
litte far from the saumur chateau
We had 5 nights and will recommend both Saumur and Chateau Bouvet Ladubay to our friends as the ideal base to explore the Loire. Our room on the ground floor was large, comfortable and elegant and better than the website photos depicted. Bruno was a great host, very helpful with restaurant suggestions and always had time for a chat to explain the areas we were visiting for the day. Good location in Saumur 5 minute drive to city centre.
The guest who arrived noisily at 1.30am because of some unavoidable delay. I thought they would have sneaked in quietly given that Bruno was exceptionally accomodating.
What didn't we like the room was bigger than our house it was like sleeping in a piece of history. Bruno the owner was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and breakfast was great.it was easy to find and not far from town.
The only thing was it was really hard to get wifi there you had to walk around to get the right spot for it to work so if you are relying on your wifi to book accommodation or keep in touch it was frustrating at times.
Welcome from Bruno the owner of the hotel. Beautiful bedroom, well presented and beautifully decorated Good breakfast included in room rate Easy access by car
Nothing not to like
Beautiful suite in a unique property. The owner, Bruno was very welcoming and very helpful. A very pleasant stay!
The bed and pillows weren't as comfortable as they might have been
Lovely chateau (ask the owner about it's history). Fabulous decor, clean, comfortable with a decent breakfast. Nice park all around, but we didn't try the pool. Twenty minutes walk to town along road and footpaths. Excellent centre for sightseeing.
Searching hard for something to criticise... the loo made a bit of noise which could be heard when flushed at night.
Great host, spotlessly clean, general ambience of antiquity, excellent advice about local area
Could have done with a few more personal comfort amenities
Amazing place to stay! Beautiful house and amazing rooms. Host is very kind and welcoming.
Nothing at all.
The Owner was a fantastic host, charming, very attentive and helpful. And, the hotel itself was magnificent. A wonderful experience.
Nothing to dislike
Friendly owner. Nice big room and bathroom, recently decorated. Breakfast included in price.
Had to phone to get let in the gates as they were closed and no answer on intercom.
From the warm greeting to the checkout, it was a privilege to share such a grand and historic building. Excellent value for money for such an experience - large comfortable rooms, pretty grounds and a good location within a short drive or a moderate walk of central Saumur
Loved all the rooms and furniture. Good breakfast, very friendly staff.
The decor was quirky and unusual but it worked for the type of hotel. The rooms were very large, airy and well furnished. Breakfast was good and the hotel was quiet. The owner was very helpful and spoke very good English.
Wonderful glasshouse attached to the house. Impressive staircase. Huge rooms.
Location Rooms Breakfast Gardens and surroundings
This is a standalone chateau with a big park. Very romantic place. There is a real atmosphere of old chateau. It is a quiet area close to a river. The management is very polite and helpful. I got a ride in an owner’s car to get a center of Saumur. I liked that when I arrived before check-in time my room was already prepared and I was able to get it.
It would be good if rooms had fridges.
All the castle......
I don't like the moment when I go.....
Bruno made us feel very welcome. Excellent suggestion for our evening meal, one of our best we had in Europe. Slept like a log.
The toilet in the cupboard was a little small if you were 6foot tall or larger. A little expensive for what we got.
