very nice ambiance. Breakfast was good. Nice lady of the house.
everything was clean, except the bathroom floor, this was full of hear. The heating was broken, so it was very cold. This was mentioned the next morning, not the day we arrived.
Otherwise very good we were happy.
Our bedroom door could not be locked so we didn't feel secure..
The lady and gentleman were very helpful, friendly and welcoming and although they spoke no English we communicated fine, the house is beautiful, there are things broken or in need of repair but what do you expect from an old house,we loved staying there. My children played on the outside swing while we got unpacked, there are chickens and sheep on the grounds, again my children loved looking at them, the bath was huge, the shower was fine, lovely hot water, very comfortable beds, beautiful view out of the windows, old fashioned and interesting decor- we absolutely loved staying here and didn't want to leave,it was a shame that we had only booked one night as it was a stop-over for us to get close to Le Havre,I would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend it if you would appreciate staying in an old, interesting and quirky mansion.
The church bells chime often but you do get used to that(obviously not the hotels fault) and a kettle in the room would have made the accommodation perfect.
Having read the reviews I was sceptical but from MAdame greeting us at the door we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was rather like stepping back into a tardis but the whole experience was delightful. It is probably not to everyone's taste as the accommodation is basic and the property is old but it was. Ertainly a very different experience for us . Everything was clean but with the en suite facilities being "home made " and like nothing I have ever seen before you had to simply take it for what it was. The breakfast was traditionally French and you could buy home made jam and home grown vegetables and freshly laid eggs. I definately would stay for another night but as stated previously it will not suit everyone.
This is a fantastic place to stay, we booked in for just the one night but could have stayed there for ever, the owners were outstandingly friendly, the house and grounds were beautiful, the continental breakfast was served in a fantastic dining room with a single large table where all guest's sit and dine together - A Must Return Place For a Longer Stay
House is beautiful Host, though spoke little english, was really nice Great location Good breakfast Farm animals on the property Cute town
Be prepared for the church bells every 15 minutes.
The place and the house are nice and pleasant. The staff was really kind and wellcoming.
The entrydoor was not perfectly functioning The intimacy in the room was not ideal. (lavatories are not really independant, and we could also hear guests in the other rooms). I am tall (1m90) and the bed was too small for me.
Wonderful old house.
The house was in desperate need of repair and maintenance.
the owner was so sweet!
it was not well-labeled, so we wandered around awhile before we found it… but we waited until after dark, so partly our fault.
Beautiful house, lovely paintings, beautiful antique pieces of furniture
Toilet and shower too small, has no ventilation, ventilates into the room. Toilet and room not cleaned during our entire stay of 4 days. Dust had accumulated under the bed. The bedspread used to cover the bed had stains on it. No plate supplied to eat breakfast on. Had to eat breakfast on a napkin which is not an usual practice in UK or any country I know of. Some of the steps on the staircase broken and is a trip hazard.
The location is good, 10 min drive to the cliff
the staff does not speak english well. And they don't except cards for payment.
Great coupe who hosted us. She only spoke French but we got by with the little we knew. It is a nice chateau that made us feel like we were in the 19th century. Breakfast was simple but typically French. Great location for a day trip to Etretat and exploring the rest of that part of Normandy.
