Chambre d'Hôtes du Phenix

The b&b is in a tranquil location on a well-planned residential estate of large detached houses on the outskirts of Lacanau-Ocean. We were the only guests and had the benefit of nearly continuous sunshine in the first week of the off-season, so we spent all of our days on the amazing beaches and dined out well in the town. The host was a charming young man who prepared a simple but delicious breakfast of bread and croissants which, if they were not freshly baked, were the best imitation of it that we have come across. They were definitely not frozen and microwaved! Hot water has been an issue in some previous reviews but we had plenty – however there was plenty of sun for the solar panels and only the host and us to supply. We were in the one of the three available room that is on the opposite end of the house from the other two and it is clearly for a couple rather than a family. We imagine that families would be catered for in the other end of the building.

From the hand-painted designs and artefacts it is clear that at some point someone has put a lot of love and creativity into this project. Sadly, though, that appears to have been in the past and much has faded. The rickety and dangerous entry gate leads through a veritable junkyard of broken items to a terrace and pool that is scruffy, chaotic and uninviting. A day's work with a skip and a good clean of the pool would transform the place into something resembling its heydey. Our accommodation was alleged to contain a kitchenette and a sitting area. The kitchenette was a cramped cubbyhole outside the bathroom with no cutlery or crockery, but with a microwave, fridge and kettle stacked above each other. The sitting accommodation was a hinged breakfast bar with two mis-matched stools. Because the host was alone and mainly did not use the large living area, we enjoyed privacy, but if the family living area were to be used, the (non-lockable) single, thin door separating the b&b accommodation transmits even low level conversation. And if other units had housed a noisy family or the weather had confined us to the room, our very pleasant stay would have been very different. One could excuse all this by saying that it's only b&b and it's cheap. However it isn't cheap and the general standard of b&b in France is much higher.

Przemiła właścicielka obiektu, mozliwośc zabrania psa, mimo braku informacji przy dokonywaniu rezerwacji - bardzo istotne w moim przypadku. Codziennie sniadanie typowo francuskie - rogalik, bagietka, dżem, kawa, jogurt I kompot owocowy - bardzo smaczne, aczkowliek dla amamtorów typowo polskiego sniadania może by,c niewystarczające. Doskonała lokalizacja, stosunkowo niedaleko od ocenau, centrum miasteczka, w lesie z wieloma scieżkami rowerowymi w okolicy do wyboru. Jestem zadowolona I ptrzy kolejnej okazji będe sie starała skorzystac ponownie z oferty Chambre D'Hotes du Phenix.

Nieczynny basen niestety, czasem dobrze jest miec pod nosem wode do schłodzenia przy skwarze 35 stopniowym.

Accueil charmant , petite chambre attenante a la maison et indépendante.

Ambiance baba cool, les adeptes de l'ordre et de la propreté n'y trouveront pas leur compte. Equipements rudimentaires mais fonctionnels Trop cher pour la prestation.

un accueil très sympathique et une grande liberté de mouvement. Une maison ouverte à ses hôtes au grand air comme à la maison.

L'environnement et le placement idéal pour des balades...

Tres bien situé entre plage et lac de Lacanau, golf, pistes cyclables.

Pas d'eau chaude de tout le séjour ; Hygiene douteuse (poussiere, ménage d'ordre général), on retrouve meme le passage du chat sur le plateau du petit déjeuner fraichement apporter par sa propriétaire ... Sécurité limité pour jeunes et moins jeunes des pseudo aménagements exterieur (+ bazar) Aucune intimité ce qui laisse "apprécier" le bruit et les odeurs de tabac froid et du chien... Trop cher compte tenu de la prestation!

Superbe acceuil, 3 terrasses différentes pour profiter du soleil et quel petit déjeuner. Super rapport qualité/prix. On reviendra l'année prochaine

Très gentille propriétaire, aux petits soins. Appartement de 2 pièces + cuisine très bien équipé et confortable avec terrasse en bois. Environnement calme et boisé. Bien situé

Not much! Breakfast was its saving grace.

Waited hours to get into our accommodation, couldn't rouse the host. Entry door wouldn't shut, so security was non existent, stairs up to the verandah which led to our room were very dangerous, not to building standard, and will cause someone an injury eventually. Room very small, couldn't open the door fully without shifting the bed over.
