Hotel Chaptal  

The staff was extremely helpful and the location is perfect. In the town and on the edge of convenient shopping and restaurants and the sites. Bus transportation to castles available. Everything you could need within walking distance.

*Very clean - spotless *hotel owners worked very hard *breakfast reasonable *close to Amboise castle *short drive to Chenonceau chateau and others *many tours companies if you take the train to Amboise *short drive to Vouvray wine area *there is a microwave that we used to make coffee and tea *decor is fresh and bright green *a budget accommodation

*The rooms are very small *family room which has double bed and bunk beds much larger *no coffee machine or kettle *parking could be difficult in high season. There is free parking a short walk away from hotel - parking early or late in the day would be a good idea.

For the price, the location was excellent. Clean and quiet. Close to shops and restaurants. Breakfast nothing exceptional, very simple. Again great price.

Staff didn't speak English. Room small and shower really tiny.They shoudn't advertise they have free wi-fi, because it doesn't work, you can't send emails.

The hotel locates near the Amboise chateau and the Clos Luce. There are also lots of restaurants and shops in the neighborhood. Our room was very small but had everything we needed, such as tv, hair dryer, shampoos...etc. The room price is quite friendly and suitable for those with limited buget.

There was only one socket in the room. We had to take turns to recharge our camera batteries.

The staff were very helpful. It was a convenient location to everything.

The phone system is quite outdated. No electrical plugs in the room for recharging electronics.

It's a great location for shopping and dining in the heart of Amboise. And is very neat to the Chateau.

The breakfast was a little sparse in selections and we had a bit of a language barrier but otherwise for the value it is a good hotel

Internet is just below the lobby. Sound insulation disappointing me. You think the next sleeping in your room.

For the price it is absolute "value for money". Staff was superlative and very nice and also it was overall very clean.

Maybe the walls were a bit too thin and the noise was creeping through too easily but with some ear plugs the work is done. A trivial point was that because I like to keep informed even when travelling, the television did not have English channels (bbc, cnn).

Location, close to town centre & chateau

No a/c- room was like an oven, so avoid in summer. Moldy smell in bathroom, shower access difficult, carpets dirty, wifi extremely slow & dysfunctional. Pas de clim, donc chambre comme un four! Forte odeur de moisi dans la salle de bain, acces a la douche difficile, wifi fonctionnait tres mal et trop lent pour vraiment en profiter.

The location can't be beat---right in the downtown area of Amboise and free municipal parking is available within a couple blocks. There's an unloading area right in front of the hotel for easy loading/unloading of suitcases. My family really liked the community room and all the newspapers and magazines that were available for guests' reading. We didn't purchase the breakfast, but it looked pretty good and plentiful.

The internet link on the hotel computer didn't seem to work well for non- French websites (either couldn't get a link or link kept breaking down) and the wifi only worked if you were in the community room. Also, the wifi worked well on my ipod, but not on my Nook color. There was some traffic noise, but the windows were modern with double panes, which helped reduce the noise a lot (although that would have made the room hot and stuffy if the weather had been hotter---we were lucky to have pretty cool evenings when we were there, even though it was mid July). However, I must say it's unfair to complain about traffic noise. If you want to be downtown, you're going to have some traffic noise no matter where you stay.

Value for money experience coupled with convenient location.
