Beds were very hard. It was understaffed at the front desk. The hotel was closed from about 10:00-2:00 so if you had luggage, you couldn't get rid of it or check in.

Excellent services and staff extremely helpful and spoke very good English which was good with my minimal French. Highly recommend. Room was very clean, not the most spacious compared to other hotels in France but more than adequate. Location was in the middle of old town with all restaurants and walking distance to river and chateaus, including Leonardo Divinci gardens and chateau. Highly recommend visiting Divinci's gardens.

No fridge or kettle, although this seems to be common in France.

Good location but not on the main streets so it was fairly quiet. The town of Amboise is very small and the hotel is located very close to the central square. Beautiful town on the Loire river.

Great value for money, well run, very nice staff, conveniently located in center of town. Hotel Chaptal is what it is, a no-frills two-star hotel, but we knew that when we booked. We were very pleased with the hotel and our stay.

Comfortable. Budget friendly. Room immaculate. Staff helpful. Breakfast more than ample and tasty. Central location.

It was well located for what we were doing and our bikes were able to be secured on the premises. Room were adequate and breakfast ok.

Staff were ok

The staff were friendly. The food at the restaurant was very good. The Hotel was an easy walk away from the Chateau. Parking was easy.

The shower was a hand piece attached to th bath taps.

Excellent location, nearby the Tourist Information office, markets, cafes, restaurants, and the river. There is a free parking lot a bloks away from the hotel. Hotel personel was very friendly and helpful. They speak English well. Breakfast was very good. I would definitely recommed this hotel : Good price and good location.

Something needs to be improve: Is the rooms climate. Rooms in upper floor were very, very hot this summer; and there were not even a fan or ventilator to relive the high temperature.

Conviently situated, and in a quietish side-street. Friendly and helpful welcome. Nice family room. Great value.

Double bed was rather hard. Breakfast was a bit spartan, but perfectly adequate - my daughter loved the crepes and honey!

Centre of the city.

Weak wifi - almost useless. The 'triple' room had 12 square meters, insuficient to double + single beds, resulting in virtually no circulation space. We could also hear every footstep from the room above.

The location of the hotel was great.

The staff was very rude. We arrived late and the checking in ends at 7:00 P.M. and that created a lot of problems. At the end one person came to help us to get into the hotel.

Hotel Chaptal was centrally located. It was within walking distance to shops, restaurants and tourist attractions.

Hotel Chaptal did not have parking and only offered street parking. Even though they offered WiFi, it was only available in the reception area. The rooms did not have air conditioning or a fan. The bathroom did not have outside ventilation and had mold in the shower and on the walls.

Very satisfied. Perfect place for vacation with childrens. Very comfortable for visits castles. Personal is very frendly and helpful. I'm going to book it again.

I liked the fact that at the daily cleaning and high-quality, excellent staff. Very convenient location - in the heart of Amboise, near the castle, river and shops.

The lack of rooms with mini-bar or refrigerator and microwave.

Not too much, was clean

This is a 2 star hotel - barely. walls are paper thin, eg not meant to use hair dryer after 9pm. shower clogged up. very very basic.

Receptionist spoke English and was helpful.

Very basic. One power point which was for TV. Wi-fi would not work and kept cutting out when we could connect (They did have a slow computer in the reception area for use) Shower was very small and unable to bend down. Lights in hallways were on very short timer and found ourseves fumbling in the dark.

Central, friendly, breakfast was value for money.

June 2012 Quirky old hotel, well located in the centre of the town. Good room for money and excellent value breakfast. Happy to return.
