Château de Candie  

The room was beautiful, the staff were excellent, the grounds were lovely.

I would have liked an English written pamphlet on the history of the Chateau. Who owned it originally and how old it was.

Our second visit. Another comfortable, well appointed traditionally decorated room. Excellent dinner and breakfast. Helpful staff. Wonderful setting in extensive grounds.

The restaurant gave us a super dinner but Euro 100 per head still seems a lot

One room was great, the other not so special! Suggest you ask for one of the older rooms! The breakfast was wonderful and well worth the price... Great views! Brilliant location and very easy to find

That the restaurant shuts promptly at 9.30pm. We arrived at 10.20pm and despite having called ahead in the hope of ordering in anticipation, this was not possible. There is no room service. Also, there is no bar or lounge area to speak of - frustrating if you just want to have a quiet drink after an 11 hour drive!

Excellent room in an outbuilding with a lovely bath tub. Great views, very warm and cosy and a good sized room. Did not eat in the hotel but looked like an excellent menu.Extensive grounds to walk around in.

Staff: Warm, friendly,efficient. Restaurant/Food: Excellent. Location: Excellent. Beautiful property and setting. Quiet and unhurried, yet close to Chambery Centre and routes to Mountains. Very convenient for Chambery Airport.

Bathroom: First room did not have a shower. After I asked, and was moved to a room with a shower, it was ok.

Luxury Gourmet restaurant!

We came to a warm welcome with a friendly greating. The suite was a nice surprise and comfortably fit the entire family. If you are in the area, especially a young couple, you must stay here.

Splendid atmosphere and facilities. Lovely slightly old world decor, perfectly suited. Helpful staff seemed genuinely interested in giving good service - rare these days. Great value for money for the rooms - even if it was off season. Superb restaurant.

The satnav found it easily, but I am not sure it would have been so easy without a specific map. Eating is reasonable value because it is very good, but is pretty expensive.

It was easy to find and the reception staff were efficient and friendly. The food was excellent as was the wine. The dining room was beautifully appointed.

The room we stayed in did not represent 5 star (the rating given on Bookings.com) The bathroom was basic and cold.

Very beautiful and romantic; staff was excellent. The restaurant was top notch- incredible menu with many local meats and veggies. This was our third visit to the L'Orangerie in the hotel- every time it is amazing and we swear it is the best meal we have ever had! This is our favorite hotel as a couple and hope to return for many years to come.

Everything! The staff, the castle itself, the location close to the motorway to Italy but not so close that it was noticeable; the room, and, worth a special mention: the food, both dinner and breakfast. Gourmets will be happy here!

Slightly hard to find

We've stayed at the chateau for 4 seperate overnight stays, this year, and enjoyed every minute of each occasion. We've even been given free room upgrades as returning guests ! The rooms are extremely comfortable and spacious and the restaurant is fanastic. It's not cheap but we think it's worth every penny (*) if you're going to spoil yourself at least once on your journey

(*) Despite the wonderful selection of local produce and home made specialties (like the ready made smoothies) we thought the actual cost of breakfast was a bit on the high side (unless you've got a massive early morning appetite)

Lack of eating choices around. The restaurant at the Chateau was overpriced, and we had to drive to the city (the hotel is located a few kms outside Chambery, and traffic was challenging, with all the construction) to grab a meal. By the time we reached, most of the restaurants were closed (8PM). We don't blame the Chateau for this (we knew about the location before we arrived), but it's something to keep in mind when comparing with hotels located in Chambery

Extremely helpful staff, beautiful room, wonderful bed to sleep on and the restaurant was fabulous - wonderful food and great service.

The Chateau is set in its own country grounds yet only 10 minutes away from the historical centre of Chambery. A special place to enjoy excellent food, feel pampered and totally relax.

Beautiful grounds and building

No airconditioning, some areas of the rooms are starting to look tired. Quite expensive for what you get, but it is a chateu. so dont expect it to be cheap.

It was perfect for a relaxing week-end. I could not find any fault with the hotel, staff or food. Superb.

The restaurant was superb, but the chateau is badly let down by its rooms. We had a lux room and felt like we were staying in student accommodation. Eat at the chateau but find somewhere else to stay.

Beautiful location, excellent staff, lovely restaurant and fabulous swimming pool.

No air-conditioning (disappointing), no bar, no dining option other than gourmet (too expensive for more than one visit and menu doesn't seem to change).

The grounds of this Chateau are beautiful and the pool is nice. The location was great if you are not wanting to stay in Chambery as it was a quick drive to both Chambery and Aix-les-Bains. We stayed in the double room and the bed was comfortable. There is plenty of parking.

The double room that we stayed in had a dark bathroom and the shower/bath had a drainage issue which meant to room had a damp smell. We only stayed for one night and didn't spend a lot of time in the room so it was a major issue for us.
