Chateau de Chissay

I loved everything about the Chateu - big room, super comfortable, warm, beautiful bath and then the chateau itself which was wonderful and just like something out of a fairy tale. The staff were great and the dinner was practically the best I have ever had.

Loved everything.

A lovely hotel with a really special atmosphere and character. The Bedrooms were comfortable rather than luxurious with a slightly faded splendour. We had an appartment which meant a separate room for our teenage children. The mosaic tiles in the bathroom were interesting. The staff were friendly and helpful. Dinner was fabulous but a gourmet treat rather than for someone on a budget.

When we arrived for breakfast at 9am on a Sunday we had been beaten to it by a coach party. The waitress although friendly was unable to provide us with any clean bowls or more orange juice, which at an establishment of this type was rather disappointing, especially considering the cost of breakfast. The coffee was stewed and not as hot as it could be.

Enjoyed the beautiful setting. The rooms were very comfortable and well furnished. Some of the staff were very helpful.

Very expensive to eat at hotel. Had booked half board and head waiter tried to insist that the menu with no choices was the only one we could have. We had to be quite insistant before we were given another menu (at the same price) that had choices. We were a group of 6. We had booked 2 apartments each sleeping 4 people. One of the apartments already had 5 beds in it. Even though there were only 3 people in each apartment they tried to charge us for an extra bed.

Good reception. Friendly and efficient. Very good restaurant. Helpful waiting staff. Excellent food both at Dinner and Breakfast. Good location - 5 minutes stroll from the Cher river. Close to Chateaux. Last stayed about 20 years ago. Just as impressive now.

The building was magnificant and the grounds were lovely. There was a lot of history in the building. The location was great if you are looking to explore the area.

The room was a little dated and the bath/shower was a little difficult. The walls were thin.

The restaurant is quite expensive and no variety in the menu formula The price of a cofe milk is unaceptable, 8€

It's a castle so you don't get the 5 star treatment of a big city hotel

Fantastic hotel!!!! But be careful, the bath is right next to the bed and the wc might not be exactly separated also:))) Very stylish!! Perfect dinners in the hotel restaurant (not cheep, but it's worth it).

Real Castle, Nice Meal & Pool

The Chateau is beautiful as is the setting. It is well maintained and comfortable. We had one of the less expensive `loft ' rooms and found it excellent value although as described a fairly small room but it was part of a small suite. Probably a bit small for more than 2 nights. At the end of a very hot day the pool was great, and as we were under the rood we had an air-con unit which was much appreciated. We would certainly come again.

The shower was in the bath due to the ceiling shape and a proper shower cubicle would be good - perhaps a bathroom makeover is needed?

Everything was great staff very happy to help assist. A lovely place to stay on a return journey to England.

The chateau was beautiful. We ended up staying in the cave room which had all the modern conveniences but looks rustic as the walls are all stone. We even had a walled off bread oven that was left over from the time the cave rooms were used as a kitchen. There was a large bed in the room and a small bed for our daughter. The room was dim because it was a cave but they had a large window/door that let in light during the day. Two complementary bottles of Evian were in our room and plenty of towels. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They worked with us before our arrival to make sure we were able to book horseback riding and dinner. They also gave us early breakfast as well as an early check-out. It was easy to enjoy a night here.

We booked a room that could have been in the tower or caves. We ended up in the caves which was a wonderful experience, but it would have been nice to pick between the tower or caves.

Hotel nicely located; fine dining, but the service team is not at all first class.

Service staff at the reception and in the restaurant not very competent, professional with regard to basic visitor desires.

Chateau de Chissay is a treasure. An elegant hotel in a beautiful setting with a very attentive and professional staff and all the amenities one could want.

We enjoyed everything. Rooms were spectacular. Wifi reception in the lobby was fine too, and understandable that wifi in every corner of every room wasn't perfect.... But that probably makes sense on a chateau originating 500 years ago.

Nice pool - but poor weather at the time we stayed. Breakfast just about OK.

Not very happy about being on the top floor with a spiral stone staircase to climb up and down everytime you wanted something.. Staff not friendly. No other facility in the village if you wanted to sample the local atmosphere. Poor Wi-Fi, poor TV facility.

Nice chateau in a good location. Large room with nice view and excellent bathroom. Friendly staff and excellent dinner.

Furnishings a bit dated in bedroom, but still OK. Breakfast was a bit disappointing considering the cost.

レストランまで含めると少し贅沢な価格帯に入ってしまうかなと思います。

L'esprit retour dans le passé,et l'oubli partiel des nouvelles technologies le temps d'un week end.La table est bonne ainsi que l'acceuil et le service.

Très belle vue du chateau éclairé en arrivant la nuit. Un hall d'accueil très agréable avec le feu dans la cheminée, cette odeur de bois... Un très beau chateau avec sa cour intérieure. Une très beau et bon restaurant. Le petit déjeuner délicieux, varié avec une belle vue sur la campagne et toujours un feu de cheminée.

La chambre dans un état déplorable. Moquette et tentures élimées et tâchées. Les peintures viellissantes La salle de bains avec ses traces de moisisure, un mobilier sanitaire très rustique. Un nid de coccinelles dans les moulures du plafond. Il faut très rapidement penser à rénover les chambres.

Beauté des lieux, calme, luxe sobre.

C'est la 2ème fois que nous séjournons au chateau de Chissay. Chaque fois, à 18h, un car débarque 50 personnes bruyantes. L'année dernière, la salle du petit déjeuner était un véritable champ de bataille après le passage de ce groupe. Cela donne un coté "tourisme de masse" ou colonie de vacances, qui ne va pas du tout avec le cadre et la cible de ce chateau. Dommage, sans cela tout serait parfait.

Le cadre patrimonial exceptionnel (château du XVe siècle), le caractère chaleureux de la chambre, le site de Chissay-en-Touraine avec son village bucolique.

Le tarif du restaurant gastronomique, davantage justifié par son cadre exceptionnel que par les menus proposés.
