Château de Gramazie

Fabulous building with wonderful grounds. Superb huge funky room. Great shower. Good breakfast. Obliging owner/manager. Pre-dinner drinks under sun umbrellas -it was just lovely.

Nothing. It was superb.

The chateau was small and friendly, we were the only guest. Hughes, the owner, was amazingly friendly and helpful. He cooked our dinner which was very good value for money, but you have to order it in the morning (I did this by email) and there was no choice.

The room was large and sparsely furnished, which was fine, but the bed was very hard.

Large spacious rooms, well appointed, very authentic chateau experience.

Breakfast a little pedestrian though ample, and dinner had no vegetables although very good value.

The inn keeper was gracious & helpful. Wonderful meals at a great price. Peaceful location in the country, but near historic sites.

A great place to spend a few days or even more. Hugues is a very nice and friendly host. We enjoyed everything!

countryside location alltought nearby carcassonne, quiet situation

Everything. The rooms are beautiful and we had a 2 metre wide bed!] Lovely evening meal.

Fantastic hotel, lovely stay, the owner was helpful and pleasant, the building tastefully restored, the bed huge and comfortable. After endless chain hotels it's simply fantastic to find a gem like this. Breakfast was fantastic too and INCLUDED! Take note big chains!!

It says a lot that the only thing I would add is a soap holder in the shower and a loo paper holder in the WC!

Charm and tranquility.

We loved the setting and the grandeur of the chateau. The owner was very helpful and speaks excellent English.

The hotel has a very quiet atmosphere and the lunch/living room have a very homey atmosphere. We had a standard double room and that was quite large, with comfortable bed a d modern bathrom ammenities. It was the only room on the ground floor and it was next to the livingroom, so ift felt like having our own livingroom. Breakfast is good and if you choose for dinning in house the owner prepares the food himaelf. That was quite nice. We only stayed some few hrs by the pool, it has some chairs but no matrasses.

The hotel is in quite a remote location. Internet did not really reached our room but we had no problem with this because we could get access in the livingroom.

Lovely building full of character. Very friendly and welcoming. The problem of the church bells ringing was soon solved by closing the window.

Friendliness of owners. Beautiful rooms and surroundings.

Excellent. Very large and comfortable room with a fabulous bathroom. The chateau has been very tastefully renovated and lies in extensive grounds. The proprietor and his staff were very helpful and ensured that we had a very enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

Beautiful chateau in a beautiful setting.

The chateau has recently been renovated to a high standard.. The rooms very very spacious and comfortable and the host made us feel very welcome. The bar was a pleasant place to relax at the end of a long journey. We dined at a superb restaurant in a vineyard nearby recommend by our host. We will definitely be back for a longer visit next year.

Nothing all good

As you approach the Chateau you imagine you should be in a coach with four stately horses slowing down as they canter up the drive. The chateau looks magnificent at first view. The rooms are amazing - huge, airy and still very historical despite the modern amenities. Apparently the chateau was a gift from Napoleon to one of his field marshalls or similar and it has wonderful grounds, tall trees, a comfortable bar off to one side and elegantly decorated ceilings, wooden staircase with stone steps, carvings etc. The owner is extremely welcoming and the whole experience was enervating - you can feel the history, enjoy the natural surrounds and relax in the very comfortable rooms or in in the lounge. Half way between Carcassone and Mirepoix, it is a real find especialy with the remains of the original Medieval farmhouse to one side. Well done Hugo.

The only problem with Chateau de Gramazie was our short stay. I would have liked a week to totally relax by the pool, read, write or just wander in the rural landscape. Hugo also recommended a nearby winery for dinner one night and it was a superb and very memorable meal. Thanks so much.
