Lovely chateaux and setting.
no lift for disabled. Did not enjoy restaurant meal.
Beautiful chateau just a few minutes drive from all the tourist places, but out of the way enough to escape.
Good location for visiting area
The room was large the staff were excellent the pool was very pleasant the breakfast was plentiful.
We had to ask for toiletries and milk for the room continuously and you need a car to get to the nearest village.
The hotel location and pool were both excellent. Our room #1 was spacious and the bathroom good. Staff was good and were helpful.
No air conditioning. No bar service at night. We tried getting a drink in the restaurant after we returned from dinner and they were busy serving the dinner guests and ignored us.
It was a pleasure to be looked after as special people during our two day visit from the arrival greeting until our departure. The room in the tower was perfect. The meals excellent. The grounds peaceful.
The climb to the tower but it was worth it.
Great location for exploring the Dordogne. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Excellent pool and great views. Good parking facilities.
Proximity to so many attractions- Excellent restaurant- Superb comfort- Exceptional and friendly service
Non-availability of informal snack meals for which facilities do exist- but rankle it is hard to criticize. We had everything we needed. It was splendid!
Location - exceptional Ambience and character - exceptional Pool Helpful staff Facilities
No big minuses Room partitions are thin so you can hear neighboring rooms and cleanliness only OK, but minor gripes
Location Very well lit building Pleasant and helpful staff Nice swimming pool
Noisy Breakfast is not worth the price - very basic Overpriced for what you get Hard to open / close shades at windows
Location View Decor Friendly helpful stuff
As family traveler we needed and did not get some must items for children breakfast such as fresh milk (always was spoiled???!!!),eggs and porridge, no vegetables. No prices for children dinner menu put us in un-pleasant situation .
If you like big grand castle hotels and want to be able to dine smart or casual in the hotel's gourmet restaurant then this is the place for you. It is set near some historic and lovely villages in the Dordogne area which also have some fine restaurants. The hotel's breakrast selection is outstanding. The main hotel pool is surrounded with sunloungers and there is another pool for the gite accommodation on site.
1) The hotel has a fine restaurant but there is no bar area in the hotel to have a quick drink after dining out. 2) Although there was a cross-section of younger and older guests staying when we were there, our 15-year-old daughter felt it had an ambience of catering for the more well-heeled older set than the younger. This was amplified by the decor in the main rooms.
Not much to dislike but if was really pushed no bread one morning
Beautiful chateau in a fantastic location, wish we could have stayed longer.
The staff, particularly those at reception, were delightful and very helpful. Loved the four poster bed and the wonderful views from our room. Wherever we looked there were castles. The free self serve laundry was a bonus I hadn't expected and the complementary wifi was great.
Wifi didn't extend to the grounds
The bed as comfortable Splash out and eat at the restaurant - fabulous We had a lot of stairs to walk up but..... Well we just didn't return to the room to get something we forgot! The view and the ambiance were fantastic
Nice location close to the river, nice staff, great swimming pool, nice views across the valley
No lifts and the floors are quite high, breakfast was OK but not great
In my three stays at the Hotel du Chateau de Monrecour, I have found the place to be a true slice of old-world elegance, comfort, and relaxation!
There is nothing I did not like about Monrecour!
The building, the location, the amenities including the Reading Room, the evening meal/dinner
We only stayed one night.
The staff were absolutely fantastic and genuinely cared about those staying, making every effort to provide for guests. The room was very impressive as was the bathroom, and breakfast was also good (although the coffee could have been better). Breakfast was a continental selection of cold meats, pastries, fruits, cereals and yogurts with plenty of choice to please any appetite in the morning. The restaurant we did not visit, but we did order a few drinks out to the terrace (which by the way is very nice with a great view of the valley) and the waiting staff were likewise excellent, and recommended a good cocktail. All in all a very good overnight stay. Strongly recommended. The building is fantastic.
The billiards room as advertised was not ready. It could be used but it was down in the basement. The white fencing around the swimming pool is a bit of an eye sore in the lovely view from the terrace.
Lovely Chateau, full of charm. Good room with restaurant on site.Friendly and informative staff. Good location for he many interesting villages and Chateau close by.
Superb location. Very romantic chateau,
The Chateau was beautiful. We ate at the restaurant and the food was really good.
The decor of the restaurant was cold- the lights were too bright for us all to enjoy the sophistication of the food.
Lovely property with very helpful and friendly host and hostess. Would recommend highly, we enjoyed our stay.
