Price a bit high
Not very much actually.
For a start our welcome was very "unwelcoming". We arrived early apparently which I did'nt realise would be an issue but we were informed she was having lunch. Then we were told to move our car which we had driven into the front of the hotel/B&B to unload the cases. The parking area is over the road, down quite a slope & its gravel so not easy to drag cases. We did'nt know where the parking was until we were told. Overall it was not particularly pleasant not because it was bad accommodation so much as difficult, with quite a few stairs, the parking issue & feeling we had done wrong by arriving early. There were no pleasantry's as far as communication with anyone & the WiFi was a joke.
We stayed overnight in this lovely old manor when visiting Carcassonne, and I'm very glad that we did. It is only a five minute drive to the medieval city, set in a warm country landscape with pretty gardens and a homely, gentile feel to the place. The owners, Cathy and her husband, were absolutely delightful - and this delight manifested in such things as a library with an impressive collection of comic books for children and for adults as well! Our family room was great, a relief indeed - with a separate room for the kids - the shower was generous, and the breakfast ample. I am very pleased that we decided to stay here rather than Carcassonne. This manor, with its gardens and light, country retreat feel, was perfect for us.
Warm welcome by host. Excellent breakfast spread. Peaceful location. You can hear the birds sing. Only 5-minutes to Carcasonne.
loved the sauna after long day of site seeing
The hotel has a good location - only 10 minutes drive from Carcassonne. The staff was very nice, who introduced the location, the food, the restaurants in great detail when we checked in, which helped us a lot. By the way, we loved the free drinks offered in the hotel's lobby.
Lovely location. Good sized room. Fabulous bathroom. Excellent restaurant next door.
Twin beds held together by large sheet, moved apart during the night!
Large bedroom. Grounds. Wine.
Located in isolated village. Attached restaurant (different owner) was closes. Only one other restaurant in village. Breakfast poor value but no alternative.
Great accommodation. Easy access to Carcassonne. Fantastic restaurant next door. Beautiful gardens. Easy parking on grounds. Very friendly hosts.
The lady at the reception was Very helpful and friendly, the latter something one does not always find in F. In the countryside, away from the buses of tourist but only a 7 minutes drive to the.....crowd, i.e. "The Castle".
Mme Remy is a wonderful host, she made us very welcome even though we arrived early. She gave us great suggestions on places to visit in the region. The chateau is a lovely retreat 5km from Carcassonne and while the town of Palaja has nothing to recommend it, we found the location very convenient for visits to the old city.
Everything was perfect. This was our favourite accommodation of a 5 week holiday in France.
Ideal quiet Location for touring the environs and carcassonne city; lovely friendly staff, beautiful relaxing grounds, lovely pool, able to take complementary teas and coffees throughout the day to take in gardens, spotlessly clean, a very good Belgian restaurant next door to the chateau!
No tea and coffee facilities in bedrooms: Average continental breakfast / limited selection / not good value for money Could be more generous with replenishing the shampoos and shower gels etc.
The receptionist was very helpful, explaining all the facilities of the hotel and offered a map and tourist advice for Carcasonne. A good choice at breakfast too.
Great location, 5 minutes drive from Carcassonne, but a superb location in itself, wonderful restoration and Kati is the perfect host
was very nicely decorated and maintained. friendly owner, who made sure everything ran smoothly. a lovely change from a hotel eperience. good quality breakfast items and toiletries.
bathroom basins did not drain unless you lifted the silver plug. strange!
Very nice room and the receptionist was extremely nice and friendly. The restaurant next-door has fabulous food. The hotel can make you a reservation in advance of your arrival. Both the hotel and the restaurant employees spoke very good English. Would definitely stay there again.
No dislikes, everything was great!!
Location, high quality accommodation, breakfast, gardens, service.
Wonderful staff always so helpful. Gorgeous room - very clean and airy. So relaxing - great breakfast
Loved the location in the charming village of Palaja near Carcasonne. The garden setting was excellent with beautiful views from our room. Owners were extremely helpful with advice on places to visit and made sure our stay was comfortable. Room was spacious with good facilities.
We only stayed one night as part of our journey to the South of France. The grounds of the hotel were very pretty and the inside had been refurbished in a modernish manner. Our room was at the front of the hotel and was nice and spacious. The bathroom was fine and the quality of the towels very good. We ate in the hotel's restaurant, which was excellent. It is located in a pretty little courtyard and we had a super meal and sat outside. Unfortunately for coffee we had to move inside due to a horrific thunder storm!! But again the inside of the restaurant was very pleasant. Breakfast was a good french style buffet. All in all a very nice hotel that is also close to Carcassone.
Very hospitable and friendly owner
The decoration of the room was a bit garish and not very tasteful - it looked more like a 1980's average hotel than a chateau
The place is very charming and the room was just great! Breakfast was very good. The owner, who runs the business, is very nice and helpful.
It is a bit far away from Carcassone but if you travel by car should not be a problem and might become an advantage because the place is very nice and peaceful and you can get to the cité in five minutes.
