Chateau de Rere

This is a magical place! I can't say enough good things about Chateau de Rere and it's gracious hosts. They made us feel like close friends staying at their beautiful home,anticipating and taking care of all our needs and desires. We stayed at the Georges Pompidou suit and loved it. It worked out great since we were traveling with our 5 yr old, so the separate room was perfect. Amazing views from both rooms, great feel through the entire Chateau. You can tell that a lot of love has been put into preserving it and making it comfortable for the today's traveler.My only regret is not staying longer (we spent 4 nights). We are already planning our next trip to the Chateau de Rere. I can't wait to tell all my friends about it!

The only bad thing was that Booking.com did not list clearly enough that the Chateau does not accept credit cards for payment. It was a bit of a challenge to obtain a bunch of cash during a holiday period when most banks were closed. It killed more than half of a day to do so.

Chateau de Rere was a unique place to stay for our family with young children. We were warmly welcomed by Alberic & his young son and were instantly made to feel quite at home. The room was huge, warm and comfortable. Alberic happily gave us a tour of his home and was very interesting to talk to about the history of Chateau de Rere - fascinating stuff! Great value & breakfast, and well worth a stay. Would happily stay here again. Thanks Alberic & Robert!

Very helpful and friendly staff

Staying at this chateau was a wonderful experience! The building is simply stunning: a historic chateau, with two Mediaeval turrets, and surrounded by a moat in the middle of hundreds of acres of forest. We booked knowing that dinner was not going to be available - the premises are run by the family who live there, and they do not employ a cook. They provide an excellent continental breakfast, but guests need to travel for dinner. There are some very good restaurants nearby: the closest being 10 minutes' drive. The small number of guest rooms all look out over the rear of the building. The location is incredibly peaceful and, if you like walking in forests, you may do so for hours at a time. We were travelling from the south of France to the UK and chose this location as a good point to break the journey; travelling north, it is about two hours to Paris. The final bonus was that the charming owners showed us round parts of the building, and discussed the history (from Napolean to WW2) with us. In conclusion, I would not wish to stay in this area for an entire holiday, but for a peaceful and magical overnight stay, or short break, this chateau is superb.

It was a beautiful house and well located for the motorway. The owner was very pleasant and gave us a tour of the chateau and told us of some of the family history. We stayed in a room not in the main chateau but ate breakfast in the chateau. Breakfast was good and in a lovely setting.

Peace and tranquility... both much needed after camping in the South of France. We used it as a stop over to break up the return leg of our drive back to the ferry in the North but will definitely stay for two nights next time. So much to see and beautiful surrounding countryside. In the same family for 22 generations; a very lovely, non-commercialised B&B... well worth a visit.

We stayed only one night at double room. A great historical building surrounded by nature. Though this Chateau was built a couple hundred years ago, but the room was well renovated and was comfortable with clean. The breakfast room is so gorgeous and we enjoyed the nice breakfast with nice atmosphere. It was very nice that the owner guided us for the short tour at this Chateau with the explanation of the great history of this Chateau/castle.

Nice a Chateau build to be a hotel, but above all very nice people that run the place, since this year. They need still to do some work, but this might become a very nice place to stay

The charming owner who was most helpful and accomodating. His explanation of the history of his house and his guidance about places to eat locally were much appreciated.

Nous sommes enchantés de notre séjour au Château de Rere. L'acceuil y est extrémement courtois et très attentionné. C'est un lieu plein de charme et d'authenticité qui constitue un excellent point de départ pour la visite des châteaux de la Loire.

Le cadre, l'accueil chaleureux, la qualité des produits au petit déjeuner, la décoration de notre chambre, sobre, mais dans des coloris harmonieux, mélangeant des meubles anciens et plus simples/modernes.

La douche un peu vieillotte...mais le prix dans la suite familiale (dépendances) était raisonnable, alors on ne peut pas tout avoir!

L'endroit était très jolie le prix exceptionnel. Et nous avons fait une visite du château! Bonus! Extra séjour, on y reviens!

Accueil et décor . Trés agréable soirée avec conseil sur restaurants aux alentours.
