It's like stepping back in time to a very bad decor era - circa 1970. Hotel badly needs doing up. It was also very understaffed. One poor waiter who had to deal with six tables of diners plus act as the sommelier. Made for a 3.5 hour dinner due to delays. Restaurant very overpriced
Breakfast did not offer much choice but confiture and honey. The building has been modernized using shortcuts (e.g. Plastic windows, cheap fittings), which could have been avoided. The staff gives the impression that inspiration and motivation is missing. Maybe this place could benefit from Gordon Ramsey passing by?
the position of the hotel was beautiful, not well signposted and a little difficult to find. the room was lovely. the garden was lovely.the staff were helpful.
there were stains on the bed spread, which I found distasteful. the mean was very expensive. and just ok. that is all.
Our stay at the Chateau des Bondons was lovely. Set in a beauitful park, the chateau itself is warm and inviting without being pretentious. Our room, a superior suite, was enormous, the bed extremely comfortable, the jacuzzi dreamy, and our large balcony overlooked the park. We were just sorry Le Castel was closed for the time we were there. A lovely weekend spent for our 30th wedding anniversary. Head to Meaux for late afternoon stroll and then to Coloummiers for Sunday marche.
We were unimpressed with the breakfast (not the reason why anyone would choose one hotel over another) but for 15 euros per person, we could have had more than a few mini crossaints, juice, coffee and yogurt. We would also have liked a complementary glass of champagne as we had notified the hotel before hand that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Ah well.
